Ganging Up on Schaefer

Schaefer was asking who pays for educating immigrants? Immigrants and their children have education paid for the same way everyone else does--with revenues from their income, sales and property taxes. Mr. Schaefer asked the question, I'd like to know what HIS answer is.

Where does one sign up to help with this voter registration drive? There isn't much time before the primary deadline.

If these groups really hope to oust Schaefer, they probably need to unify behind one candidate. Or, Janet Owens (who possibly wouldn't be a bad comptroller but who can't win this race) needs to drop out of the race.

Why bother even registering to vote? Just show up at the polls and vote under someone else's name. They aren't checking IDs.

The wealthy and snooty graduate degree types support illegal immigration so they should pay the costs. Raise taxes on the rich to pay for special education programs for illegals. "I'm not a racist, my maid is from the Phillipenes". The rhetoric from the Fox News/New York Times coalition that runs the country is pathetic.

Schaeffer is a joke. I hope he gets knocked out. Franchot deserves to be our next Comptroller.

However, this ethnic coalition doesn't inspire much confidence in me. They claim that they will register new minority voters and turn them out to defeat Schaeffer. Let's examine that more carefully.

The deadline to register new voters is August 22. The primary is September 12th. So this coalition has to convince this population to register to vote as Democrats by August 22 and then vote in the September 12th primary. I have intimate knowledge of trying to make voters out of non-voters. It is VERY VERY tough. The reason they are non-voters is because they haven't bothered to register and vote. IE: They don't care enough. Also, presumably, many of these people are not native English-speakers.... Which just makes things that much harder. Oftentimes (but not always) people who aren't fluent in English don't feel a strong connection to American society. They feel they are "invested" enough to vote.

The Democrats' core constituency is Christian( or Christian heritage ) heterosexual white people with high school degrees. Has Schaeffer alienated them? He seems like a smart, hard working guy that some people in the press are "out to get" and those press attack wolves use fake pseudo-racial groups to support their point of view. I think most people regardless of their parents would vote to have some one better than Schaeffer. Well that better someone is not running this year. Schaeffer is way better than any of his opponents. Franchot is a failed legislator and marginal lawyer who'd is bad news for the day to day running of the goverment. Franchot doesn't understand finance.

Please explain to me what sounds "smart" or "hard-working" about Schaeffer's comments injecting North Korea's military policy into a discussion of educating people who are living in the US? You say that Franchot doesn't understand finance. On what basis do you make that statement? Schaeffer runs as a Democrat and then works directly against the other elected Democrats in the state. That may be what you want, but it isn't what the majority of the Democrats in Maryland want.

Like Zell Miller, Schaeffer didn't leave the Democratic Party...they left him. Every day that the PC crowd feign being insulted, so that they can play the "victim" card, Mr. Schaeffer gets another gold star in my book.

Failed Legislator?

Sure, a 20 year veteran of the House who has consistently stood up for middle class and working families.

And another thing, does anyone remember the $700 MILLION dollar tax rebate to middle class families that Franchot championed!? But no, Schaefer and his allies just want everyone to think he's a tax and spend liberal

Well alright then, we've got the Zell Miller/WD Schaeffer Democrats on one side and the Franchot Liberals on the other. This is almost as good as having a two-party system! I've yet to see anyone actually make an argument in favor of Schaeffer. Dim says he "tells it like it is". You mean when he helps Ehrlich stab the Dems in the back? Strange logic, IMHO.

The "Donald" was a fabulous Mayor back in the '70s and did great things for downtown Baltimore. However, this is 2006 and lots of things have changed. I am distressed about his unfortunate comments as reported in the Post. Maybe it is time for new blood in the comptroller's office.

Franchot is too old to run. Schaefer would kick his bottom in one of those ultimate fighting cages.

Yes, Franchot is a failure. He never got a leadership post. He failed running for congress. He was always the junior on his legislative slate in Silver Spring. He represents the out to lunch liberals of Takoma Park, the one's who are still mad we did not surrender to Russia or declare a syndicalist commune in Silver Spring. If you think we should increase taxes on hard working middle class Americans to pay for failed, effete social experimens, then Franchot is your man. Franchot is the posterboy Montgomery County politician that gets pushed around by the rest of the state. We're better off with a proven success and a proven failure. Schaefer gets the pass. Again.

The notion that Schaefer is too old to govern is a little off. There are plenty of folks who have been capable well into old age. For every Schaefer and Strom Thurmond there is a Daniel Patrick Moniyhan. Schaefer's problem isn't specifically that's he's too old it's that he's old and doesn't care. When old folks speak their mind, it's entertaining. My grandfather used to whine and moan about everything and was usually about as PC as a George Carlin special, but the difference between my grandfather and WDS is that my grandfather was never crotchety or potentially offensive in before a statewide audience.

Any Democrat who still votes for Schaefer forgets how he endorsed George H. W. Bush for president when he ran against Bill Clinton. He was a traitor to the party then and he is still a moron now.

Oh, this is rich. We have here a bunch of grievance groups whose sole purpose is to garner publicity--not to do anything substantive. And they're meeting up with a delegate whose sole purpose is to garner publicity--not to do anything substantive.

The delegate has done nothing in 20 years in the legislature. And so someone raises the $700 MILLION tax rebate the delegate "championed"? Three questions--which rebate was that; what actions, exactly, did the delegate undertake that were instrumental in getting it passed; and were you in favor of Ehrlich's property tax reduction?

Schaefer is a character. He says what he thinks, which happens to coincide with what a lot of Marylanders think. Remember, the last election an issue was made of his views towards minorities and women (his supposed views, that is--his record on both policy issues and personnel decisions from his earliest days as mayor to his second term as Comptroller are not what the grievance groups would have you believe). The issue was raised, debated, and roundly rejected by Marylanders as he won more votes than anyone else in the State.

And what shortcomings has he shown in his administration of tax laws and the Comptroller's Office? Bueller? Bueller? That's what I thought--no complaints about him except that he offends the perpetually offended.

So the choice is vote for a man with a demonstrated record of achievement (that's just in the Comptroller's office, let alone the other 40 years of public service) or vote for a 20-year backbencher with no legislative record. Should you choose the latter, however, please don't complain when a delegate with zero experience in managing three people, let alone a major state agency with 1,000+ employees, sends your income tax refund in mid-August instead of April 18 or you get seven bills for a tax liability you cleared up three months ago.

The more Schaefer says these days, the more I'm inclined to support him. We need more anti-criminal, pro-American proven administrators like Shaefer, not pro-criminal, pro-tax, pro-waste, anti-American, ineffective fools like Franchot.

$700 million tax rebate for working families? What, exactly, was that?

Are you perhaps confusing Franchot'soutspoken support for Delegate Busch's $1 billion tax increase? You know, the one that raised the sales tax--the one that hits working families hardest--to 6%? And applied the sales tax to tanning salons and physical fitness centers? And raised the motor vehicle excise tax--you know, on the car purchases working families need to make to get to their jobs--from 5% to 6%?

Is that the kind of support for working families Delegate Franchot shows?

Or do you mean, instead, his support for the doubling of the cigarette tax? One of the few taxes likely more regressive than the sales tax?

Yeah, vote for Franchot--he wants to raise regressive taxes by more than $1 billion annually, all in support of working families!

Franchot hasnot met a tax he does not like and want to hike. Hold on to your wallet!

So anyway, what is the answer to Schaefer's question: Who pays for the education?"

From my perspective, I keep seeing my kids' school classes get larger while the schools are spending more and more time and money teaching English as a second language and teaching 10th grade kids from the third world how to do basic arithmetic.

And while I pay $40,000 per year in taxes, the parents of the third world students are getting handouts from the county.

So who pays? The taxpayers.

Schaefer gets it. Franchot doesn't.

Now who do you think will be getting my vote?

Franchot proved his idiocy when his initial response was something to the effct of "does Schaefer think this will make a Korean-American CEO of a biotech company in Seattle move to MD?" Well hello Peter, you've managed to vote on every anti-business initiative out there. JO will capitalize on your anti-business attitude. Schaefer may win because of the JO/PF fight. People just love to bash Schaefer. Well, plenty of people support him . I predict he will win by a landslide.

Notwithstanding Willie Don's long history of stupid remarks and sleazebag activities, the real deciding factor to me is that I could never vote for someone who I wouldn't in close proximity to any female member of my own family. Schaefer is indeed like Zell Miller, in that both are ossified cretins from an outmoded good-ol'-boy era who have no business in 21st century government.

An immigrant is a person who obtains an immigration visa from a U.S. Consulate, expresses a wish & a will to become a U.S. citizen, and abides by the law.

We hear the same Politicians speaking of seeking Bipartisan support for a Comprehensive solution to Illegal Aliens which are code words for Amnesty without any means or intend to enforce the Laws or our Constitution & close our Borders, just like they did with the 1986 Amnesty!

They further obscure & confuse the issue with Political Spin & Lies by saying it is only 7 or 8 million when the best independent estimates of the Illegal population was 20 million years ago & we have 5 to 10 thousand more pouring across our borders every day since then.

They conveniently forget to inform American Citizens that each Illegal Alien granted citizenship has the option to bringing in 5 family members in a never ending chain, so at the very least we are talking about 60 million or so in the next 15 to 20 years, a more realistic number is probably 200 million or more.

This Nation will be inundated with 10,s of Millions of Prolific breeders. Citizens with an average of 6 grade education and a 50 percent school drop out rate to populate the gangs & welfare rolls.

This is the same thing that happens with the last Amnesty, only this time it is on a scale large enough to destroy this Nation and turn the USA into another Mexico!

What we really have is a club of Millionaires in the Senate & the Democrat party seeking to deceive American Citizens again & pass a Law to reward other Millionaires with an unlimited supply of 21 First Century slaves.

While they reward their selves with the votes from Latinos and money they receive from Corporations for destroying this Nation!

The intent is to exploit both the Illegal Aliens for their Cheap Labor and the Poor & Middle class American Citizens as victims of the Illegal Alien's crime, deteriorating standard of living and the 100,s of billions in welfare costs!

In Bush's term in office 5.4 million more American Citizens have slipped into poverty so he has been effective in his goal & if they succeed in this Amnesty their victory will be Complete! The press is as guilty as the Politicians in trying to foster off this massive Amnesty bill on the American Public. They continue to refer to the Mass Invasion of Illegal Aliens as Immigrants which could not be further from the truth.

They fail to point out the harmful impact of the last Amnesty in 1986.
