Coming up in Maryland politics this week:
MONTGOMERY COUNTY
The Montgomery County Council will get an update at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday on the county budget at the council office building, 100 Maryland Ave., Rockville. County Executive Isiah Leggett (D) last week directed county departments to trim 2 percent from their operating budgets to help address Montgomery's projected $400 million budget shortfall for the next fiscal year. The council is also expected to meet with the Board of Education at 3 p.m., at the school district office, 850 Hungerford Drive, Rockville.

Come on Anne. You know he also mentioned the possibility of tax increases. He is almost a sure bet to try and exceed the charter property tax limit. Never mind that his successful call for income, corporate and sales taxes hurts badly. Leggett says he doesn't want to cut "critical services." Of course that doesn't apply to his sweetheart deal of $8 million of aid to the Fillmore center.
Homeowners Alert! There is one chance to protect your home equity which Leggett et. al. covet. Approve our Nov. 2008, ballot question which makes it more difficult to exceed the charter property tax limit and forces elected officials who do so to take "credit."
