Wynn endorses Obama
U.S. Rep. Albert R. Wynn (D-Md.) yesterday endorsed Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) for president.
Wynn, an eight-term congressman whose district includes most of Prince George's and part of Montgomery County, said Obama "brings a positive energy, a new vision and has the political courage to bring about the change this country so desperately needs on the Presidential level."
In a statement, Wynn called the Democratic field seeking the presidential nomination this year "an exceptional group of very talented individuals." But he said he believed Obama is in the best position to bring about "real change."
Wynn faces his own tough reelection battle, facing five Democratic challengers during the Feb. 12 primary, including Prince George's activist Donna F. Edwards. Edwards came within three percentage points of defeating Wynn in 2006.

I only hope Wynn's endorsement does not imperil Obama's chances of victory in Maryland.

Wynn's support showed that Obama could draw Republicans into his camp. Did I say Republican? What do you call someone who voted to support the Iraq war and the 2005 Bankruptcy bill, to repeal the estate tax, and support Bush'es energy bill? He's also spoken up for stricter border controls.
Well, he resigned today -- so Obama will have to woo Donna Edwards once she becomes the Rep.
