Richardson's New Mexico Cash Boom
On a presidential candidate's list of lucrative donor destinations, New Mexico barely rates a mention (its electoral competitiveness is another story). During the entire 2004 election, New Mexican donors combined to give just more than $3 million to the presidential candidates. But now that Bill Richardson, the state's governor, is a candidate in the Democratic primary, New Mexico contributions during the first quarter of 2007 have nearly equaled the amount raised in the 2004 contest.
Richardson has received 94 percent of the money raised from New Mexico donors, about $2.8 million through March 31. Nearly $1.85 million of that came in contributions of $2,300, the maximum individual donation for the primary election. The next-highest New Mexico total, $40,671, went to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York. Mitt Romney was the top GOP fundraiser in New Mexico with $21,800.

BTW we contribute to Richardson because we have seen how he gets results. He is easily the best candidate, too bad he is not the choice of the kingmakers in the media. I will see if WaPo runs this comment, when I criticize their Hillary-mania the comments usually do not appear.

Alas, NM reader, you are quite right. The WaPo will post your comment, but it will get no attention. Let's wait for some brave, intelligent, and perspicacious WaPo columnist to suggest that the best ticket for America would be Richardson--Obama. On the other hand, our troops will long be home before that happens.
