McCain Campaign Casualty

A great example of the layoffs announced Monday by Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign arrived in the inboxes of reporters a few moments ago: campaign spokesman Kevin McLaughlin is gone.

Looks like he's been replaced by Amanda Henneberg. Here's the e-mail as delivered a few minutes ago (we've taken out contact information):

Good Morning,

I know you all had a great relationship with Kevin here at the campaign, and we are very sad to see him go! Going forward, if you have any booking requests or need any information, please don't hesitate to contact me. My full contact information is below:

Office: xxx-xxx-xxxx

Cell: xxx-xxx-xxxx

E-Mail: xxxxxxxx@mccain08hq.com

If you are covering the changes that are taking place here at the campaign and would like to speak to a McCain surrogate, please let me know.

Thanks,

Amanda Henneberg

Sorry about McCain losing many of his staff, but may I say that some people are supporting 2008 candidates and donate their time and effort to organize in promoting their candidates.

Case in point: The group, www.thinkcondi.net, has many people who are employed during the day and donate funds to hold events in promoting Secretary of State Condi Rice as a viable contender for 2008. If you look at the national polls, she has maintained a strong 10% to 15% in support by the people.

If any reader is in the Chicago area, I want to invite them to attend an informational meeting at The Red Ivy, on 3545 N Clark St, in downtown Chicago. It will be held on Friday, July 6; starting at 7pm.

Condi? I'd support a gazillion others before she'd even be a fleeting thought. She's bright but zippies as a SOS. Not of presidential material... but, then, neither was Bush and look where he is.

As for McCain, he should've been the candidate in 2000, not this yokel in office now. I think McCains' window of opportunity came and went in 2000 and 2004. I would've voted for him then. But then he started pandering to the far right and waffling... Nope - he sold himself out.

Is that the "BS Express" over there on the side of the road with a flat tire and it's radiator spewing hot air?
