Boudreau: Poti, Green Will Play
Coach Bruce Boudreau just said he expects defensemen Tom Poti and Mike Green to be ready to go tonight after both suffered minor injuries in Monday's 4-2 win in Philadelphia.
Poti was whacked in the head by teammate Brooks Laich's stick in the third period and afterward said he had a headache. He did not skate this morning, but is "okay" according to Boudreau.
Green, meantime, also experienced an "issue" in third period. Boudreau said last night that it was a skate problem, but today Green skated on his own (without pads) this morning and looked a bit uncomfortable. He did not acknowledge that he was hurt, saying only, "I wouldn't miss it for the world. They would have to cut off one of my legs."
The "it", of course, is the Caps' sixth game 7 in franchise history, which will be tonight at Verizon Center. It's the team's first Game 7 since 1995 and first at home since 1992.
They're are 1-4 all-time in Game 7s, with the lone win coming in 1988 on an OT goal by Dale Hunter ... against -- who else? -- the Flyers. The league adopted the seven-game format in 1939, and since then 121 series have gone to Game 7, with the home team winning 77 times (64 percent).
"We've been in so many Game 7s in the last few months," Boudreau said. "It's [another] Game 7. We just have to do it. That's where our mentality has been for the past two months."

Was sorta of interesting after the game last night. We were trying to figure out if the team would be spending the night in Philly or comming home and getting some rest. On the post game show Joe and Craig said that they boys would be flying home. Does anyne know if the Flyers traveled last night or this morning......just wondering.
Posted by: Capfannmiss | April 22, 2008 11:48 AM
Anyone know when the second round is scheduled to start? I'm a little concerned that if they manage to win tonight there won't be a whole lot of time to rest before making the trip up to Pittsburgh.
Posted by: HolyOlie | April 22, 2008 11:48 AM
Green - you best not be costing the Caps the game trying to play hero... Schultz did the same thing a few games ago and lef the game leaving us with 5 d-men.
I'm all for Green playing - I just hope he is 100% or at least acts like it.
Posted by: 828 | April 22, 2008 11:48 AM
HolyOlie - my guess is that if they win tonight - they play in Pittsburg on Thursday night.
One game at a time though
Posted by: 828 | April 22, 2008 11:49 AM
I will not be attending tonight's game. I will be available tomorrow for comments from 1st tee at 0817am.

You gotta love the way Semin has played during this series. He finally unleashed the fury.

Yes, please ...
Let's help them get the win TONITE.
THEN we can all worry about the 2nd round.
They, again, have to battle like they did last night.
DO NOT give an inch!
Posted by: CantMissKid | April 22, 2008 11:52 AM
Also that new 2nd line is becoming a beast!
Let's hope they can get another goal tonite!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

@828
OOOOOOOOOO! Will you please, please use my Vengeance later ... Golf now idea?? I was telling my girlfriend about it last night and she LOVED it, but unfortunately, we won't be at the game tonight. You'd be scoring a fellow Caps fan MAJOR MAJOR points if you make that sign for me! ;-)
Please let me know if you decide to do it - your last sign was terrific!
Posted by: NoCountryForCapsFans | April 22, 2008 11:54 AM
I'm trying to get things done today, i swear to god, i'm trying.
Posted by: oo7 | April 22, 2008 11:55 AM
I don't think the second round starts THAT soon. I don't think it starts as late as next week either, but Thursday sounds too soon. I'd guess Friday or Saturday.

828:
What about making what looks like a Flyers Vengence Now sign, but then crossing the Vengence out and putting Golf in with an arrow ... or putting Golf over it diagonally?
Posted by: Boo! | April 22, 2008 11:57 AM
I like how the fans booed the Flyers at the end the game...It is final, Philly has the worst fans in all pro sports...

NoCountryForCapsFans... it's very possible that I use that idea - less words = less time to make.
I may tweak it though - just flip the words around...
Golf Now... Vengeance Later

Next round - according to NBC, they are showing "Game 2" of the next round on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons. That means the first games are likely Thursday and Friday.
Lets get this one first!!

HuskyHockey: Capitol Q at 707 H is pretty good barbecue (go with the brisket) and they serve Shiner Bock which is lucky beer because I was drinking it for game 5.

Good News...I sent an email to the Folks that own the Cinema Draft House in Arlington and they are gonna start running the Caps games once we smoke the Flyers tonight.

My co-worker ("Die Hard" Flyer Fan)is giving me crap for spending "an unreasonable amount of money (his words, not mine)" to go to the game alone. I told him I will have plenty of company.

I also recommend Blue Moon with a slice of orange. And maybe some mexican food.
That's a winner.

red green jersey... sorry, that made me laugh.
Well folks, I'm off to work. No matter what happens tonight, stay loud. These boys deserve to have every single person in the house behind them, yelling for them to play their hearts out. No matter what happens tonight, stay proud. They have accomplished so much in so little time and will only be that much better next year. I'm glad I found the Caps, because they are truly a team you can get behind, 110%. I've got my red t-shirt on under my uniform. When I get home from work, the game will be decided (unless it goes to 4OTs). No one is allowed to tell me the score or the outcome before I watch it. I will be on much later, hopefully with words of celebration, not sadness. But with this team, there really is no defeat, because they're only going to get better. Are you scared now, Pierre McGuire??
Let's go Caps!!!!
my 2 cents: I like "Vengeance Later, Golf Now!"
Posted by: jmu_capsgirl | April 22, 2008 12:25 PM
Could you imagine the mayhem and frenzy in the crowd if Dale Hunter came out to wave at the crowd pregame????
The foundation of the Verizon center would shatter.
Posted by: KillerT | April 22, 2008 12:25 PM
@ Eric
I agree. If Hunter made an appearance tonight, the roof would blow off the Phone Booth!!!!
Doubt it will happen, so let's just get crazy Rockin' the Red anyways. "See" you all there tonight.
Let's Go Caps!!!!

Sweet! I didn't even know about the pizza deal. Hopefully there isn't some caveat like "not available on game days" or something like that.

Oy. Did I just misspell "Vengeance" six times in one post.
I made myself look like a Flyers fan. They're very proud of the fact that they can spell "Eagles"... as long as everyone works at it together.
VENGEANCE LATER!!

at 12:40pm Jeff asked:
"How many teams (or what %)that won game 6 also won game 7?"
I heard a stat on XM while driving to work this morning that the home team has won about two-thirds of all game sevens ever played. I don't know how long the NHL has used the here-there-here scheduling for games five, six and seven in a playoff series, but the number to answer your question is probably pretty close to two-thirds as well.
