Sounds like Varlamov's injury is less serious than Neuvirth's at least. That's good news.

So let's see, Neuvirth has a torn meniscus and Varlamov has a torn ankle ligament. That's just great.

@b.orr4: I don't like the injuries to the goalies either, but they don't seem major, and injuries are part of the game. Best they learn that - and what it takes to rehab (if they haven't already). That's all part of getting ready for the NHL.

BTW: I wonder if OV ever had a serious injury in all his playing?

All I can say is the Flyers better beat the Pens! As much as I hate the Flyers, I can still stomach them better than the Pens.

Oh, and glad to see Nicky is doing his part at Worlds. Hope our young goalies heal fast. I realize that we were not expecting them next season, but still would like to see Varlamov get some good experience at Hershey next year.

Hope we are keeping the lines of communication open between our office and Huet's agent.

can't type much. Montreal series was the weirdest ive ever watched i think... World Series is shaping up into some good hockey... lots of caps youth there. I'm going to keep my posts limited on here for a while. I was going to post at then end of the series so we can talk offseason about the caps and what not, but was going to come on whether in high times or low times... and with luck... a lot of luck... its high times...I know you guys don't know who to cheer for in this penn match up which i think will take place next week i'll leave you with one thought before the series.... Sidney Crosby.... just think about it

Every team has played once thus far at the Workd Championships in Canada. After 2 days of tabulating stats for FHWCT, this is how I have standings.

1st oo7 - [63.25] It Semin, not Ovechkin that got the headlines on opening night. Our very own Sascha netter 2 goals and helped on another and was very Selke-like +4 vs an underwhelming ITA team. oo7 also got big points from his pair of goalies and sits well above the standings, but its early.

2nd Honed - [48.00] Honed guessed correctly in the Russian netminder sweepstakes, as Yeremenko got the nod in the first game vs ITA. Her other goalie, Nickalas Backstrom of FIN was hardly challenged. Honed also got quality scoring from her bluelines, Paul Martin and Jan Hejda who both got her 6 points each.

3rd Sombrero Guy - [43] Not having a starting goalie is the reason why SG is closer to oo7. Varlamov went down due to injury. Ersberg did not play in game 1 and will probably not see mush action if Lundquist joins the SWE team after the NYR playoff fun ends. SG had an amazing performance by Radim Vrbata and great showings from Visnovsky and Getzlaf.

4th Steve R - [42.25] Dany Heatley anchored team SR with 2 goals and an assist as CAN horsewhipped SLO. Gerber was the only goalie playing for SR and got a expected win over FRA. Robert Nilsson also faired nicely with 1 goal and 1 assist.

5th Jeff (DC) - [41.00] Hirsch and Huet got peppered with shots and lost but Jeff got solid points from them. Denis Grebeshkov had even strength assist and was +3 to get Jeff 9 points. Ovie got a goal and was +2, for a modest 5 points. Jeff will surely be looking to replace Sam Gagner and Alexander Edler in the supplemental draft.

6th JSchon - [35.75] Two of the top goalies playing in the tournament belong to JSchon, other than that not much to speak of. JSchon's forwards didnt do anything of note , the blueliners were ok. Look for JSchon to find a couple of producing forwards in the SD to be held May 7th.

7th jmu_capsgirl - [29.75] Lost out in the starting goalie sweepstakes with team RUS, but got good points out of Masalskis, who was brow beaten with 45 SOG. Her mostly Russian team was just ok otherwise. She will definitely need to replace Medvedev who was left off of the roster.

8th Jordan - [27.00] No goalies in action for Jordan spells bad news. Jordan will need a lot of help on draft day as neither Ramo or Anderson seem likely to get many starts. Jordan will also have to figure out to do with Immonen and Widing who both were left off of their national teams rosters.

I agree. Price made some good saves actually, but the Flyers kinda ran over him. They had a couple of high sticks uncalled - however I stand by my opinion that they're playing really good hockey.

all in all it looked like a good effort by philly to take out the Habs. Maybe Price isnt all he is cracked up to be. He looked lost out there.

They didnt really run him much. It was no worse than was the canadiens were doing to Biron.

I'm not too worried about a sprained ankle. At least he didn't break both ankles and have to be euthanized on the ice. (see Kentucky Derby)
