Alert: Potomac Primary Problematic Precipitation
As if tomorrow needed any more excitement, two periods of light wintry precipitation should make the election day even more interesting.
Some light snow may break out pre-dawn, especially north and west of the beltway. Portions of Montgomery, Frederick and Loudoun counties could see a dusting or so by dawn. The snow may dry up before getting inside the beltway, but some flurries are possible everywhere. Given temperatures in the 20s, snow that falls will likely stick on most surfaces.
There may be a lull in the precipitation in the mid to late morning. Some more precipitation will develop in the afternoon, likely as a wintry mix of sleet, freezing rain and rain. The evening commute could be a bit nasty, especially north and west of DC where temperatures may remain near or below freezing (30-33). Inside the beltway, temperatures will be at or above the freezing mark (32-35), so travel shouldn't be as hazardous.

So that's interesting. I like the fact that temps will be a tad lower than expected. Can't see any of this making a difference as far as a full day of school is concerned?
Also, did Maryland public school have school today?

I just noticed...so the new graphic at a glance is the National Weather Service forecast, not CWG? What's up with that?

Maryland relies on the schools as voting facilities, but I'm not sure about other jurisdictions. I don't think any others are closed.

re: source of At A Glance -- On our old site and now on the new site, the at a glance has always come from the National Weather Service. The main thing that's changed from the old site is that we've replaced the NWS icons with our own, which we think depict and communicate the weather better than what the NWS provided.
In terms of why we use their 6-day forecast instead of our own? To be frank, they provide a constantly updating forecast feed that we would not be able to do on our own. So we focus our efforts on our detailed forecasts that hopefully act as an important supplement to the NWS at-a-glance and vice-versa.

Solidifying band near FDK makes me think DC area might get spared by much of this, though the stuff west can make it in around daybreak?
Air is super dry still.. FDK another good marker, as they are now very near heaviest echoes and had a dewpoint of 0F last ob. If no snow falls there it can give a good idea of what we need to see before it reaches the ground here.
