Update: Shower Chances Increase Today
A band of rain showers is moving through the region, especially the southern suburbs. Here's part of a short term forecast recently issued by the National Weather Service:
NUMEROUS SHOWERS WILL EXTEND FROM THE POTOMAC HIGHLANDS EAST THROUGH NORTH CENTRAL VIRGINIA AND WASHINGTON DC AND INTO CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN MARYLAND THIS MORNING. SHOWERS WILL BRING UP TO A TENTH OF AN INCH OF RAINFALL THROUGH NOON.
This afternoon, shower activity will be more spotty but remains a possibility (40% chance). For the full forecast through the weekend, see Jason's forecast below.

Hopefully, this system rains itself out today and gives us a reasonably decent (mild) day tomorrow when I have my Clarendon Ballroom swing dance before the big event with all the wind & thunder moves through us on Wednesday.
It would sure be nice to get a good Arctic outbreak and snowstorm during the Presidents' Day period. After that the sun's angle gets TOO HIGH for any good sticking snow, even though we can still have a good snowstorm or two until late March or early April. It's just too hard to get a huge "Knickerbocker" style snowstorm after the Presidents' Day period.
