Forecast: A Cold Easter Weekend
The calendar says spring, but old man winter says "wait a minute D.C., I'm not done with you." Don't get caught off guard -- you'll need to dress for cold conditions this Easter weekend. Temperatures may not get out of the 40s until Tuesday! A little rain is possible today, but more of the weekend will be dry than wet.
Cool with patchy light rain. 45-50. College basketball fans glued to their TVs won't notice, but it won't be the finest of days outside. A weak area of low pressure will pass through the metro region bringing overcast skies and some intermittent light rain. Temperatures will generally hold in the 40s.
Overnight, skies will partially clear and it will be cold. Lows will drop to near freezing downtown to the upper 20s in the colder suburbs.
Keep reading for the forecast for Easter Sunday and early next week...
SUNDAY
Mostly sunny and cold. 45-50. With the jet stream taking a big dip over the East Coast, it's going to be pretty darn chilly. Churchgoers should wear an extra layer. Despite a lot of sunshine, temperatures are going to have a tough time reaching 50.
Overnight, a weak disturbance will ripple through the region causing an increase in clouds. Some light showers or snow flurries (especially north and west) can't be ruled out (25% chance) with cold lows in the low to mid 30s.
A LOOK AHEAD
Unseasonably cold conditions persist into Monday with temperatures again struggling to escape the 40s under variably cloudy skies and the outside chance of a shower. Temperatures moderate Tuesday, with mostly sunny skies and highs reaching the mid 50s.

Reason for these continual cold spells: There's still a lot of snow on the ground north of us. Until it all melts we will keep getting these raw outbreaks whenever there's a NW wind.
This huge snowpack is also the reason for the continual flood outlooks for places northwest of us. There's not enough room for it to go when it finally does melt, hence the flooding.
