Forecast: Dry but for Saturday's Shower Spoiler

WeatherCamAfter a chilly start this morning in the 30s, sunshine will catapult us well into the 50s. Saturday is less superb with clouds, showers, and temperatures in the 40s. Sunday saves the day with sunshine once again--albeit chilly temperatures in the lower 50s.

TODAY

Clear, slowly calming, near 60. A bit nippy and breezy to start, but sunny skies allow temperatures to head into the 50s and maybe 60 degrees during the afternoon. Winds will slowly die down towards evening. I think you'll find it a pretty keen day, overall.

Into the overnight hours, skies cloud over by midnight and spotty showers (30% chance) may dampen the area before dawn. Temperatures will fall into the upper 30s to about 40 degrees.

TOMORROW

Cloudy, showers. Upper 40s. A weak area of storminess will slide through the region. With cloudy skies and showers (50%) our high temperature will be muted--only reaching the 47-50 mark. A breeze from the northeast direction will make it feel even cooler.

After dinnertime, the showers should dry up and overcast skies will begin to crack open. Low temperatures will dip tonight--into the lower 30s--perhaps some upper 20s in Winchester or Columbia if wind dies down completely. You haven't yet put away that winter coat, right?

Keep reading for the forecast through early next week. Or don't if you hate snow. kidding... ?

Aptly issued Wind Advisory!
High winds claim a tree yesterday afternoon one block from Logan Circle (DC), by Capital Weather Gang's A.Camden Walker

SUNDAY

Sunny, not windy! Lower 50s. Uh, wow. This is the first day this windy March where I can headline a lack of windy weather. Enjoy temperatures in the lower 50s with just a light breeze. Soak up some sunshine, but do watch that UV index "6" on Sunday = "high".

Overnight, most locations will dip into the mid and upper 30s. Clouds may stream into the area late.

A LOOK AHEAD

It's still unclear whether a coastal storm will impact the area Monday with snow or rain. More likely the storm will stay out to sea leaving us dry. Winds from the north along with cloud cover will keep it cold, with highs only in the 40s.

Clearing skies Tuesday seemingly mitigate a northerly wind, with temperatures rebounding as high as the middle 50s.

Looks to be a nice, sunny, and fairly warm Easter...

Canadian lightning update: Nothing over the North American continent or offshore this morning. Yesterday evening there were isolated strikes offshore FL on the Atlantic side of the peninsula.

Boy has that Monday "snowstorm" ever vanished! Sterling is telling me that the only action Monday/Tuesday will be well to our north.

In addition dewpoints falling near 20F indicate that air will be dry and tomorrow's precipitation could be sprinkles at best. There's more expected north of us with this upcoming "clipper". However it does have substantial moisture. Areas in southern WI and Northern IL could get 5 to 8 inches of snow per Tom Skilling @ WGN. Wondering how many folks will be here today (Good Friday) after lunch. Apparently our Investments Division is off with Wall Street closed. (Wonder why THEY close for Good Friday, when the Feds and everyone else make us come in to work. The Feds just WON'T give us a holiday for Easter weekend, though they do observe a "religious" holiday [not really a "holiday" for us Buddhists!] at Christmas. Wonder why that is. BUMMER!)

Argh! Please don't tease the snow lovers (which includes me)! We've got a long 8 months or so comming up. Oh well, I can always start looking forward to summer thunder storms for my weather excitement.

ha, Tim, no agitation intended. just trying to hook ya :) Agreed we have a long time before snow accumulation season begins again (and I won't count 2008 out climatologically until April 10) but Tstorms in the summer really get me going too!

Diminished winds is the best part! All regional airports near me (Winchester, Martinsburg, Leesburg, Hagerstown), which is to say all but Frederick, reported gusts 40-45 yesterday AFTER the advisory ended. From my hilltop perspective, it seemed like the wind storm that would never end. My pets were nervous wrecks. I, of course, was totally calm....
