Weekend Events: Hoops, Easter and Elephants
Cool temperatures and a chance of showers will make for a less-than-ideal late-March weekend, but when all is said and done the weather shouldn't be too maddening for basketball fans heading to and from the Verizon Center on Saturday, nor for early-risers on Easter Sunday. Forecast confidence drops come Monday, just when the Easter eggs start rolling and the elephants start walking, but at least the trend is toward dry rather than wet or snowy.
SATURDAY
NCAA Men's Tournament, 2nd Round, Tipoff: 2:10 p.m ... Fans coming and going from the Verizon Center may have to dodge a few sprinkles or showers (50% chance) during the afternoon and early evening, but they would likely be of the light variety. Temperatures should be close to their highs in the mid to upper 40s on the way into the arena, dropping back into the low to mid 40s by the time the games let out in the early evening.

SUNDAY
Easter Sunrise Services, Sunrise: 7:06 a.m. ... Saturday's clouds and showers should be gone, replaced by partly to mostly clear skies by sunrise on Sunday. Temperatures should start the morning out in the low 30s, reaching the low 40s by noon.
MONDAY

White House Easter Egg Roll, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. ... Is it me, or does it always rain on the White House Easter Egg Roll? This year, rain or even snow are not completely out of the question. But more and more it is looking like a potential storm will stay far enough off the Atlantic coast, leaving us with dry weather and partly sunny skies. Morning temperatures in the mid to upper 30s should rise to the mid to upper 40s by early afternoon.
Elephant Walk, 1:30 p.m. ... The circus is coming to town on Monday, which means elephants will be walking the streets of D.C. It'll be a chilly one for both the spectators and elephants (anyone have some size XL sweaters the circus can borrow?), with temperatures in the mid to upper 40s. Odds are the weather will be dry and partly sunny. But, as mentioned above, there's still an outside chance that more clouds and precipitation could enter the picture.

Early Sunday should be rather crisp, but otherwise a delightful early spring morning. Skies should be partly cloudy, winds near calm, but exposed areas may have a light northwest to north breeze, with temperatures depending on location, running from 27 to 32 degrees.

Easter is about as early this year as I can remember. When was the last time we had a Sunday remaining in March AFTER Easter Sunday???
