Forecast: Warm & Stormy, then Cool & Cloudy

Through Saturday, you will experience warm springtime weather: highs at or above 80, but storms threaten late each afternoon as a cold front approaches from the west. A cooling trend starts Sunday -- so enjoy the summer-like warmth the next couple of days, but do so before the late afternoon. That way you dodge any thundershowers!

TODAY

Partly sunny, then storms? Low 80s. Clouds not completely masking the sun, temperatures will rise from the lower 60s toward the 80-degree mark by later afternoon. Sunnier spots south of town really could heat up--into the middle 80s! Rush hour drivers be wary, though. Isolated t-storms are a slight threat (25%). Breezes may increase later in the day, out of the southerly direction.

Into the evening and overnight hours, thunderstorms (if any) should make their final pass through our area by bedtime. Cloud debris may stick around and simultaneously prevent temperatures from falling below 60. Nice 'n mild!

TOMORROW

Variably cloudy & warm, p.m. storms. Low 80s. Here comes a warm day, almost reminiscent of summer. Complete with a late-day stormy threat. By mid-afternoon temperatures could surpass 80 degrees and clouds may gather quickly. There's a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms starting in the late afternoon.

By nightfall, showers and thunderstorms are likely to become more widespread (60% chance) as a cold front pushes through our area. Temperatures may fall into the 50s near dawn, as winds kick up from the northwest.

SUNDAY

Mostly cloudy. Near 70. Northeasterly flow will slow the clearing behind the cold front. Expect considerable cloudiness, with temperatures a good 10 degrees cooler than the last couple of days. Some patchy drizzle or shower activity (20% chance) can't be ruled out in the morning just as a bit of sunshine is possible in the afternoon.

Overnight, showers stand a slightly greater (40%) chance of affecting the area ahead of our next front. But they will stay light. Temperatures only fall into the mid 50s with a solid layer of cloud cover overhead.

A LOOK AHEAD

Showers are likely on Monday -- especially during the first half of the day when the cold front will pass through. The afternoon will probably remain cloudy, with cool highs from 60-65. Confidence: Low-Medium
