CommuteCast: Wonderfully Warm

Temperatures well above average on Wednesday

This has shaped up to be another in a string of great springtime days across the region with highs now reaching the upper 70s in most locations. Partly cloudy skies will continue for the rest of the afternoon before clearing begins with the loss of daytime heating.

Tonight: We'll stay partly to mostly clear overnight with some high clouds moving by. Overnight readings should fall into the low and mid 50s in the suburbs while hitting the upper 50s to near 60 degrees in the city.

Tomorrow: If you've enjoyed the last few days, but wish it was just a little warmer, tomorrow will be your pick of the week. Mostly sunny skies throughout the day, and increasing winds from the southwest, will bring warmer conditions to the entire area. High temperatures should reach 80 degrees everywhere, and low to mid 80s will be possible throughout the southern portions of the region.

See Matt's full forecast through the weekend.

Earthquake!!!!

O.K., so it was a 1.8, but I actually did feel it. of course, it helps that the epicenter was on Wakefield Rd. about 1 km from where I sit.

I am SO jealous that we didn't feel the "quake" down here. :( Maybe there will be another (NON-DAMAGING...disclaimer to ward off the same people who accused me of wanting people injured when snow lovers were wishing for snow last winter...) quake and it'll be more "feelable" this time.

Although, I did feel the 4.5 back in Dec of 2003. That was the strangest thing. Everything was shaking and rattling and it sounded like a truck was right next door. I called my aunt, who lived in Dale City at the time, and she thought a chopper from Quantico was going overhead. 2 days later we had like 9 inches of snow. Very strange week.

We've added a short post on the earthquake above. Feel free to discuss the beautiful weather here and the earthquake in the above post. Thanks...

Pretty good chance of rain on Thurs/Friday?

okay, no doubt it has been beautiful, but am i the only person who doesn't find 80 degrees all that wonderful? every weathercaster talks about how great it is when it hits 80, and all that means to me is that my top floor apartment is gonna be stuffy and that i need sunscreen, a hat, and lots of water during recess duty.

give me 60s and (low)70s!
