Forecast: Sunny Day Trifecta
Over the next three days, we continue the unbelievable stretch of spring time weather that began last Friday. These days will feature an abundance of sunshine with afternoon high temperatures warming through the 70s. For much of the week, it will be dry except Thursday night into Friday and perhaps Saturday night into Sunday.
Mostly sunny. 70-75. Grab your jacket when you head out, as temperatures begin the day in the chilly 40s (except near 50 downtown). But with temperatures climbing to near 70 by noon, you can leave the jacket in the wardrobe for lunch. Sunshine will reign supreme throughout the day, allowing high temperatures to close-in on 75 despite a north wind around 5-10 mph.
Count on clear skies overnight, with lows 40-45 in the cooler suburbs to 45-50 inside the beltway and downtown.
Confidence: High
TOMORROW
Mostly sunny. 73-77. Remember today? Feed it through the office copier, up the warmth by a couple degrees and you've essentially got tomorrow. High pressure will remain over the area with lots of sunshine and high temperatures reaching the mid 70s.
The overnight hours will be clear and comfortably cool, dropping down to 55 downtown with some mid to upper 40s in the normally colder suburbs.
Confidence: High
Keep reading for the forecast for the rest of the week. Check in after 11 a.m. for Andrew Freedman's latest contribution.
A LOOK AHEAD
We'll have more sunshine Wednesday, with temperatures nearing 80 as winds become southerly. Confidence: Medium-High
Clouds increase Thursday with a chance of showers and storms late in the day or more likely at night. Highs should again be in the mid 70s to near 80. Confidence: Medium
A few showers could linger into Friday through around noon, with the possibility of sunshine slowly emerging during the afternoon. Highs will likely be near 70. Confidence: Medium
Saturday should be partly sunny and pleasant, with highs in the low 70s. There's a slight chance of showers at night as a weak area of low pressure approaches from the west. Confidence: Medium
Showers may continue into Sunday, with chances highest in the morning. High temperatures will depend on the amount of cloud cover and rain. Right now, I would say a high near 70 is a reasonable prediction.Confidence: Low-Medium
