"Hot" Songs

Whenever it's hot, three songs pop into my head:

1) The Heat is On, from the movie "Beverly Hills Cop", performed by Glenn Frey (1984). Best lyric: The pressure's high/Just to stay alive/'Cause the heat is on

2) Hot in Herre, by Nelly (2002). Best lyric: It's gettin' hot in here/So take off all your clothes/I am gettin' so hot/I wanna take my clothes off

3) Too Darn Hot, from the musical "Kiss me Kate" (1948). Best lyric: I'd like to stop with my baby tonight/And blow my top with my baby tonight/But I'd be a flop with my baby tonight/Cause it's too darn hot

Whether you like 80s music, hip-hop, or show tunes, there's something for everyone here. Check out the videos...

Summer in the City

Dock of the Bay

Most anything by Jimmy Buffet. Or the Beach Boys.

That's a slam dunk: Summer in the City by the Lovin' Spoonful.

"All around, people looking half dead
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head"

A CLASSIC!

What are the chances that our Chantilly Youth Association championship baseball game will be completed tonight? First pitch: 7:30PM. Radar doesn't show anything off to the west.

Lyrics from the B52s song "Rock Lobster"

"Bakin' potatoes
Bakin' in the sun

Put on your noseguard
Put on the Lifeguard
Pass the tanning butter"

I like "hot in the city" by Billy Idol! Here in Nashville we have cooled off into the mid 80s for highs! Sorry you all are still baking!

The only song that pops into my head in this heat is, "Waiting For Snow" and it's classic line, "Nothing takes longer than waiting for snow"

I'll take the middle of winter over this heat anytime, and just thinking of the conditions these past few days renews my yearning for the next big snowstorm in DC

Heaven help me, because I think it's cliche, but Buster Poindexter's "Hot Hot Hot" is one of mine.

Oh this is so easy: "Hot Hot Hot" by the Cure. It even contains the line "I like it when that lightning comes."

"Fever" by Peggy Lee.

How about "Baby its cold outside" - Dean Martin

I vote for "Summer in the City".

"But at night it's a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come-on come-on and dance all night
Despite the heat it'll be alright"
