Forecast: Hot Today. Blowtorch on the Way?
A few p.m. storms today and tomorrow
No doubt today's low-to-mid 90s will feel plenty hot. But will temperatures early next week make today's seem like a garden-variety heat? Models are waffling on that answer, and on whether a front bothering us with midweek storm chances will clear out in time for the weekend. Should they develop, some storms could be strong late today and tomorrow.
Hot and humid. 40% chance of late-day storm. Low-to-mid 90s. What we have here is a classic summer scorcher: Mostly sunny to start with temperatures climbing toward highs in the low-to-mid 90s, afternoon heat index in the mid 90s to near 100, and building afternoon clouds with a chance of late-afternoon or evening thunderstorms. I'd put the chance of seeing a storm where you happen to be at about 40%.
Tonight, after a chance of an evening storm, partly cloudy with lows in the low-to-mid 70s.
Confidence: Medium-High

TOMORROW (THURSDAY)
Partly sunny and humid. Low 90s. 30-40% chance of late-day storm. Tomorrow should be partly sunny and just as humid as today, and in some spots just as hot with highs in the low 90s. Again, a few late-afternoon or evening thunderstorms could pop up. Your chances of getting hit by one of these are in the range of 30-40%. Overnight, diminishing storm chances and clearing skies with lows in the low-to-mid 70s.
On Friday and Saturday, humidity will be reduced but not totally eliminated. Highs should reach near 90 both days under partly to mostly sunny skies. A passing shower or two can't be ruled out as a little piece of energy in the atmosphere moves through. Confidence: Medium
Sunday through Tuesday: Yesterday, signs were pointing to some serious heat and humidity, especially for Monday and Tuesday (like mid 90s to near 100). But the models have backed off a bit for the moment. Best guess for now is highs near 90 on Sunday, and low-to-mid 90s on Monday and Tuesday. Rain chances are uncertain, too, as one model has hinted at a juicy low-pressure system in our vicinity, while others have not. Confidence: Low
