Gonzales Hearing Update: No More Pink

Code Pink is the proper name for the organization that the anti-war protestors belong to, and here's an update on their status at the House hearing where the attorney general is answering questions about the U.S. attorney firings:

They've been completely ousted from the hearing room. About eight Code Pink women were in the room during the break, battling with staff for the House Judiciary Committee and the U.S. Capitol Police about whether they could observe the proceedings.

The answer, before the afternoon round of questioning began, was no. They were all told to leave, based on the fact that they were all wearing what committee staff viewed as overtly political clothing.

The women shouted that their First Amendment rights were being violated, but staff told them they had two options -- watch the proceedings in a different room or leave entirely.

Without the Code Pink women on hand, the viewing section for the public in this particular Rayburn House Office Building room is not even half full.

Also, Democratic staff have sent out a pair of video clips for those readers looking to get a visual of what the hearing's atmospherics have been like.

In the Gonzales situation, one of the White Houses many secrets was exposed to the public. Perhaps more time should be spent "exposing" the secrets of the White House. For instance the members of the government agreed to fund and support the Millennium Development goals that will help bring an end to global poverty. However while the white house spends $300 billion a yea in Iraq, $19 billion is missing from the funding to end starvation and malnutrition worldwide. Groups such as the Borgen Project are working to bring government attention to see that the U.S. government holds up their end of the agreement.

If Bush had his way no one would be able to stand up and object to his stupid ideas - this president is without doubt the most ridiculous excuse for a human being the world has ever seen - he belongs back where he came from - drunk at a bar in Texas.

What we have in this presidency is the eqivalent of a coup, this isn't a civil servant doing the business of U.S. citizens, this is special interest re-designing the world to serve their aims, and King George is sitting on top of the heap.

IMPEACH!

I can only hope, and pray (to the Republican God no less), that the obfuscation, lies, half-truths and ommissions of this smarmy AG Gonzo WILL NOT STAND - that the American People will impeach him as soon as possible. It is positively frightening to think that this goofball is the chief of all law enforcement in my country. Instead of running the criminal justice system, he should be chewed up and spit out by it for lying to congress. I hope gets the opportunity to learn how the criminal justice system in my country works - from the inside out!
