'Bitter' Fight Goes Downballot
The controversy surrounding Sen. Barack Obama's (D-Ill.) "bitter" comments seems to have been explored from nearly every angle in the presidential campaign.
But now GOP strategists are hoping to milk a bit more mileage out of the story by tying Obama's words to Democratic House and Senate candidates.
The National Republican Congressional Committee issued a memo today asking whether downballot Democrats will "'cling' to Obama's elitism." The missive links Obama to another alleged elitist, 2004 nominee John Kerry (D-Mass.), and reminds that the House GOP picked up three seats when Kerry was at the top of the ballot.
"There's a myth being perpetuated by Obama supporters, and even some in the media, that an Obama candidacy is beneficial to down ballot congressional candidates," the NRCC says, adding -- without any real evidence -- that "uncommitted superdelegates ... are wary Obama will lead to a Kerry-like repeat from four years ago."
The National Republican Senatorial Committee, meanwhile, has been busy today releasing a series of Web videos asking whether individual Democratic senators -- each of whom is an uncommitted superdelegate -- will cast their votes for "a man who calls small-town America 'bitter.'"
Now, it's worth remembering that these are just Web videos rather than ads with actual money behind them. At most, Republicans are hoping that at least a few local newspapers and television stations will take the bait and ask their local Democratic lawmaker or candidate what they think of Obama's comments. While the Democratic presidential primary fight is peaking at this very moment, most House and Senate races won't really start to heat up for several months, at which point the "bitter" story will likely have been overtaken by a dozen other controversies and subplots.
And if the GOP really is able to replicate its 2004 performance by picking up three House seats this fall -- an outcome that looks highly unlikely at this point -- Capitol Briefing suspects it will be attributable to a lot more than one Obama quote.

Obama's own bitterness is the result of 20 unbroken years of non-healing at the Church of Militant Hatred he attended. And this will be the "bitter test"
Together with his interference in trying to prop up Marxist-Islamist Opposition leader of Kenya (his cousin Odinga) and receiving the bitter response from Kenya's President who did not appreciate Obama and Dick Morris interfering in his country's affairs, especially when Odinga was promising SHARIA LAW if he had won. The rioting that ensued as result of Obama's cousin's gangs burning 50 churches in December, and going on a raping rampage has left a bitter taste.
The third item that will come to haunt Obama is going to IOWA back in January and telling the hard-luck working folk:
"Well, all you have to do
s just go down to your local WHOLEFOODS store and look at the price of arugula"!!!!
Obama is certainly "out of touch" with common folk and psychoanalyzing the "bitter" small-town folk in Pennsylvania ain't gonna make him seem any more empathetic.
Obama, please return to your tenured Professorial job, and take a Sociology 101 course while yo're at it! Politics will make you even more bitter than leading sermons at Trinity United!

If people were honest, bitter is only one of the emotions they feel about our economy, about being in this war, about elected officials putting the greed of big business before the needs of the people, about elected officials making promises they don't keep, about CEO's getting millions of dollars in bonuses while the federal or local government are bailing their companies out of bankruptcy (with the taxpayer's money) while the employees of these companies are required to take pay cuts and make other concessions. Yes bitter, frustrated, disgusted, disappointed, these are all emotions I feel from time to time. But more often than not I feel happy, excited, thankful and blessed that I live in a country where I am free to voice my opinion.

I am a middle age White Pennsylvanian Woman, and a die-hard supporter of Bill and Hillary Clinton. I stock with them through their difficult years in the White House during the Monica Sex scandal.
I must say that I am very insulted by Hillary's statement calling Obama an "Elitist and out of touch". This statement and many others from Senator Clinton proved that not only is she a racist but out of reality, completely out of touch, and out to destroy the future of the Democratic Party. In my entire adult life, I have never seen a Presidential Candidate who gives the opposing party enough ammunition to not only destroy the other candidate but also destroys the party, and this is exactly what Hillary Clinton is doing to the Democratic Party. She is now making it difficult for future Female Presidential Candidates like me. I am very ashamed as a woman to see the only female candidate out there telling lies, drinking and deceiving voters just to forge a way. Is she calling those of us raised by single mothers and struggle to make it in life Elitist?
When I saw this woman who is supposedly a highly educated Lawyer, a former Board Member of Walmart, and a U.S. Senator, at a Pennsylvanian Bar Drinking beer, and downing a big shot of whisky in front of TV cameras, just makes me wonder as to how low she is willing to go to fake a life style in order to get votes. About a month ago, she lied, cried and cursed her way to win Ohio and Texas, and as suckers, we fell for it. Eight years ago we fell for such gimmick under George Bush. We gave him the benefit of the doubt, because we taught that it was cool to have a president that we can have a beer with. This is how stupid and shallow we were as voters back then. Hillary is hoping to capitalize on such sentiments (not even under Sniper fire). What a joke. Not when you and John MacCain are directly align with George Bush to destroy our country through your ill informed votes. You need to come to us the Military Families whose children continue to arrive home in body bags and explain to us as to what qualifies you to be the next President of this Nation when the only opportunity that you have to show your qualification and experience, you blew it, by not reading the War Authorization Document and straight out voted for it. All you care about is what is popular. Please come to us as Military Families, who are loosing our jobs and homes to sip some suds. I think that the 100 million dollars that you and your husbands have made from his NAFTA friends and supporters in Colombia is just not enough for you. How can the Senator claim that she in touch with the voters, when she and her husband, made more than 100 million dollars when the folks she was drinking beer with, in front of TV Cameras are out of work and many of them lost their homes? Thanks to the Good Senator who together with John MacCain voted for a senseless war that has siphoned all of our Tax-payer money out to Iraq. Thanks to the Hillary and John MacCain for voting to give tax break to the super rich including themselves while the rest of us burn in hell.
Who is out of touch? I AM VERY BITTER AND YOU MUST KNOW THIS.
Monica.

Cling. Cling. Would that be like McCain clings to the Bush war, failed economic policy, broken DOJ and corrupt military procurement process? Is it that kind of cling?
