Byrd Released From Hospital
Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.) has been released from Inova Fairfax hospital, three days after being admitted with a fever. He is now resting at home, though it remains unclear when he will be able to return to the Senate.
"Senator Byrd will complete the course of his antibiotic treatment as prescribed by his doctors at his home and is expected to return to his official Senate duties upon his doctors' approval," said Byrd spokesman Jesse Jacobs. "Yesterday, Senator Byrd talked with several of his staff members and told them how pleased he was to hear about Senator Ted Kennedy's successful surgery and also asked his staff if Vice President Cheney had issued an apology to the people of West Virginia for his recent derogatory remarks about the people of the Mountain State."
This was Byrd's third stint in the hospital this year. The 90-year-old was hospitalized in February following a fall at his home, and again in March after a bad reaction to antibiotics.

Senator Byrd was in Walter Reed Army Medical Center following a fall. This facility is contaminated with an extremely drug resistant bacteria called Acinetobacter baumannii, as well as a few others.
Senator Byrd's next visit to Walter Reed was due to a reaction to the antibiotics he was on to treat the infection he picked up at Walter Reed. The drugs used to treat Acinetobacter baumannii and the other drug resistant infections are often toxic and as hard on people as chemotherapy for cancer.
Senator Byrd still has an infection which is apparently quite persistent.
Is Senator Byrd suffering from the same infection that has taken so many lives and limbs of our war wounded that would otherwise have been saved?
