yeah, whatever, gwyneth, blame it on your spanish speaking skills. after all you were talking to a portuguese newspaper.

but even before that, who's stupid enough to even compare americans to britons anyway? just say it's different to live here v. there and say you like both. everyone's happy and people will go see your flicks.

Lance and Reich, we hardly knew ye

I think Gwenyth's PR rep urged her to say this. I don't believe her. I'm still not going to see her movies.

Posted by: Sharon | December 5, 2006 10:39 AM

Oh, Blythe Danner, where did you go wrong?

Posted by: not bluto | December 5, 2006 10:47 AM

Spanish and Portuguese are different languages. It is entirely and completely possible that the Portuguese reporter simply made it up, especially if s/he is working for one of these Euro-rags that is more about T&A, sports and scandal than meaningful/accurate content. It could easily be a case of "anything for a headline". AFter all, what about all the OTHER reporters at the conference? Why didn't THEY publish the same thing?

Sorry - I just don't believe the hype.

Ahh, those stupid Americans. I can't believe they believed that lame excuse. The intelligent and sophisticated British would've seen right through it. God Bless America.

Very funny, Gwyneth. Now get back to watching "Benny Hill."

Posted by: Liz | December 5, 2006 11:01 AM

Someone please add Eddie Murphy to the Celebrity Neuterathon list.

Posted by: Cubeland, MD | December 5, 2006 11:15 AM

Yeah, Gwyn, too bad those shocking quotes are more or less what you've been saying _in English_, for years now. Good riddance.

Just when I thought it wasn't possible to heart her any more than I already do, Liz pulls out an Ultaman reference. Sad news, yes, but good memories, too. Thanks, Liz.

Remember Gwyneth, Americans are smart enough to know Coldplay is highly overrated.

* No matter how much spin her publicist puts on this, Gwennie's going to have to work hard at living this one down. Just stay on that side of the pond, Sunshine.

* Gwennie's remarks pale in comparison to Eddie Murphy's, tho. What a low-life. Mel B, just think what a narrow escape you had and move on w/ your life. (And I like the other poster's comment that Eddie needs to be added to the Celebrity Neuterathon list! Ha.)

Thank you Lisa! Now I know I'm not the only one who thinks that way about Coldplay!

I thought Tracey Edmonds had more class than that -- she goes from Babyface to Eddie?! That's just crazy. Wait, is Tracey actually a man?!
I cannot wait for 24 to start, the cast gets better and better.
Instead of "penning" a memoir, Tori should shop around new episodes of "so noTORIous," which was freakin' hysterical / brilliant. And how cool is it that her best buddy from that show is now Sylar?! Talk about upgrading.
I thought George's pig was already dead, it stopped getting ink long ago. RIP, porky.

Oh my god, Eddie Murphy has how many kids? I had no idea.
Yeah, he will have to meet the spay and neuter clinic bus when it comes to his neighborhood.
And maybe Gwynneth should too. God knows what name she will think of for her next kid (I hope Madonna helps her choose..she has such exquisite taste.)

Just saw that the Holly Golightly dress sold for $800,000 plus. Oh did you see the photo! I would have paid that if I could. So beautiful.

why was the oh so sophisticated and civilized paltrow speaking spanish to a portuguese magazine. doesn't she realise they are 2 different languages and countries. oh yeah paltrow, for the next movie contract, i look forward to your NOT demanding your usual 10 figure compensation amount--in respect of your newly found european sensibilities.

Gwyneth spoke in Spanish at a news conference, not a one-on-one interview with a Portuguese newspaper.
