I don't understand why this is such big news. She's not the first woman to cut her hair off. She's just going through things, and, hopefully, by the time she's better, her hair will be back. And besides, it's only hair, it will grow back!

Plain and simple, the woman is an immature and emotionally disturbed freak. She has more money than she could ever spend; she has a staff of personal assistants that attends to her every whine; has she the connections to get the very best psychological care available; and she has a couple million fans who continue to finance her self-destructive lifestyle, worship the ground on which she pukes, and support every (bad) decision she makes.
So, do I feel bad for Britney? Not in the least. And neither should you.

You gotta feel a little bad for her - her family should have stepped in a long time ago to help this young woman out. But then you remember she's got two little ones of her own right now, so that little bit of bad dissipates...those kids need a mother. Hard to believe K-Fed is looking like the responsible parent these days...
Posted by: Chasmosaur | February 19, 2007 9:50 AM
Does she think this a good way to win a custody battle? She obviously has no interest in keeping those kids or being a mother to them. She saw them for a few minutes when she flew back from her drive-by rehab then went and got her hair cut and tattoos. Save the court fees and just sign custody over the parent who has a job and keeps his privates covered in public.

maybe she doesn't want to win the custody battle.....

Why is everyone worried about this chick? I'd gladly take her two precious children (or Ms. Smith's) and raise them with my 20 month old so they didn't have to live with her trash- for free. Somebody jump in and save those kids, and not for their inheritance... just because you love kids. AS for Brit... psople don't change unless they want to. Who gives a crap what her hair looks like? The bigger fix would be to grow up, be a mother, don some less-revealing clothes and stop trashing the image of the rest of us who hail from small-town/country America. Let's face it... people always have choices. They may seem impossible, but they're always there. You may not like them, but they're there. And she's chosen to go down the "party my problems away" route. This is really making me think there should be a screening test for celebs (and others) to reproduce in the first place.

Ahh... America's love of trainwrecks has shifted focus from Iraq to Anna Nicole to the living breathing equally incomprehensible (i think people are time travelling and not telling us) Brit.
Can someone please intervene here? i mean this girl is asking for help... and there are plenty of people out there who've done just fine off of her. Sad when someone goes through a public crash like this and no one steps up to help - makes you feel all warm about humanity.

Britney, Britney, Britney. I know you were concerned when, in response to the upskirt paparrazzi photos, some bloggers said they they still couldn't tell if "the rug matched the drapes." This wasn't the solution.
Posted by: WoW | February 19, 2007 11:31 AM
I've been dying my hair for longer than her. I can't tell you how many times I've considered shaving it off and starting over. I have a friend who did it. Whatev. Do you need hair to be a good mother?
Posted by: ho hum | February 19, 2007 12:00 PM
Well, they match now!

Where is her mother! Hello! Lynn... Step up here. Why are you letting your daughter run around town like a hussy, shave her hair off, get tatoos, smoke and show her private parts to the world! LYNN! Step up gramma, Get in there and get a handle on your family.

It isn't that big a deal.

OMG Liz, I couldn't wait until Tuesday Morning Mix. I'm not a fan of Britney, but I do feel sad for her and her children.
This was done out of anger and feeling of not being in control( I know of women who have done the same thing in their teens and twenties)
What Britney's family members(who are not on the payroll) should do is try to convince take a break from her career. She should stay home and raise her sons for the next five years.
Posted by: Lisa | February 19, 2007 2:40 PM
Sorry, Lisa @ 2:40pm, but, even if it's lack of control over her "career" that's caused this apparent psychotic break (which I'm not sure I'm willing to concede), what makes you think that the proper course of treatment is for her to just stay home and raise the kids for 5 years? How is someone who is incapable of managing her own life capable of being a competent stay-at-home mom, even if she has millions and millions of dollars? She's not gonna' miraculously become a stable, normal human being just by refocusing her effed-up life on two small children. The damage apparently has already been done -- what the woman needs is intensive medical intervention, then we can talk about whether allowing her to play mommy is in the best interests of the kids.

I think there is something else going on here. When I Googled "Britney shaves head" I got all sorts of kinky stuff. It seems that the shaved yoo-hoo and shaved head are both a kinky turn-on for some people...not quite sure who, so if anyone knows, please clue us in. Sorry to be so naive....I'm from the Midwest.
Posted by: Barb | February 20, 2007 7:12 AM
Unfortunately, CPH, that is exactly how she becomes stable and normal; by removing herself from the environment that works against stability and normalcy. No one there gets out alive; everyone gets corrupted by the environment you cant maintain or become stable there.
Posted by: Stick | February 20, 2007 7:21 AM
Somewhere in Ireland, Sinead O'Connor just yawned.
Posted by: byoolin | February 20, 2007 8:25 AM
Try reading my comments again, Stick. I never said she should stay in that "environment" to get better; as a matter of fact, I think the phrase I used was "intensive medical intervention". What I was arguing against was the notion that just up and quitting so shoe could "play mommy" wasn't the solution, i.e. that she needed help first, then she could think about being a good mother.

This woman really has media manipulation down to a science! She has very little talent, appears to have very little chance to recapture the vibe she had a few years ago, and has figured out how to make sure she stays in the headlines constantly. Why does she need to change? This is a consumer society -- we want to consume her and she wants to be consumed. Isn't that what things are coming to? She's simply accelerating the process.

Did anyone consider the fact that her hair was damaged from the bleaching and it just had to come off...She couldn't dye her hair back to brown because she was pregnant. Her hair looked really bad and maybe the "saving" treatment for hair wasn't working anymore. I don't blame her for shaving it if that was the reason.

i think she has just gone mad i meen look at her!her sister will have gone balistic!britney is going mad well mad!for her hair to grow back it will take bout 2 years...if i was her i would wear a wig!

It's amazing how everyone is so quick to make judgement on the livestyle of others but yet regret to take a look at their own. Instead of talking about Brittany, pray for her.

We all know that when women go through a big change in their life like marriage, children, divorce they change their hair. BRIT SHAVED IT OFF, LEAVING HER PAST. Its a new cycle and as old as the earth. Brit the Maiden [0-28 yeares old] is 24, the winter of her maiden stage. Seems she's getting a head start to enter the all powerful Mother stage [27-52]. Go Brit !!

Leave the girl alone. To Mrs. S and the rest I have heard say, "they need to take her kids". No, they need to leave Britney alone. WE ALL NEED TO MIND OUR OWN BUSINESS. Bottom line; she is a mother with 2 sons, good or bad, happy or sad. It's she that they love and it is she that they have to grow up with. Who will they hate if you take their mom away? Their mother or the system and your interfering behind. The only abuse Britney is putting out now is self-inflicted. Those boys are with their nanny or nannies, happy and free. And it doesn't matter if you agree with how she's raising her children, "IT AIN'T YOUR BUSINESS" (say it with me - it's not my business).
None of us live in a glass house, so stop throwing STONES. How many grew up with parents who had "SUPER" issues? Be honest? And look at you now. It was life for some and death for others, sure, but no one knocked on your door trying to interfere. And yes, you would have been more messed up if the government and others jumped up in your business every chance they got. LIFE HAS NO GUARNTEES for anyone at any level so just let that woman go and mind your business.
Personally, I fault 24 hour news shows. Simply ridiculous. There is no news going on for 24 hours that people need to know about. It makes us nosey, judgmental, un-loving and unable to focus on our own "mess". If you focus on your own mess, and yes WE!!! ALL HAVE IT - then this world would be a better place. If someone tells you that they are perfect and don't have any issues, if you tell yourself there is nothing that needs work in your life - well then there you go, they have and you have a problem with lying and denial right there. LET BRITYNEY ALONE, AND OPEN YOUR OWN BAGS, AND START TO EMPTY. MOTIVATION FOR 2007 - MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS, AND TURN OFF THE TV.

she is pathetic..and there are many people that have hard times fall on then that they don't act this way. She is a spoiled brat, and the media is catering to her by giving her attention.
I wonder what she will do when she finally loses her kids..(heaven forbid, it comes to that) but, she may need that reality check.

OK, taking her kids is one thing. But raising them?
By now they are scarred for life. And don't forget: the other half of their little genomes comes from that horrible Kevin Federline.
