Hump Day Snow Day Valentine's Day Wednesday List

Violets are blue,
Roses are red,
Get in on the list,
If you're not still in bed.

(For real poetic artistry, see last post)

In a survey of 5,000 Australians, more than 70 percent of respondents (of both sexes) said they'd rather spend Valentine's Day with their partner than a celebrity dream date.

While fidelity is commendable, we here in the land of list-making know that there's nothing wrong with a healthy imagination and today we'll get our creative juices flowing by compiling a list of fantasy dream dates. We could opt for the obvious and name our celebrity dream dates ("and then Russell Crowe would duel the "Donnie Darko"-era Jake Gyllenhaal for my affection"), but why make this a rehash of our top fives?

To give this list a little twist, we'll make the objects of our affection completely unattainable: If you could spend Valentine's Day with one fictional character -- from a book, TV show, comic, movie, whatever -- who would it be and why?

P.S. While researching today's list, I came across this fab article quoting Jamaican musicians on their Valentine's plans. My favorite is from Mavado: "I plan to spend Valentine's on the street and flex wit mi girl still."

I'm going to go classically sappy here and go with Colonel Brandon from Sense and Sensibility. He's definitely capable of some spectacular doting. But, specifically the Colonel from the Hugh Grant/Emma Thompson 1995 film version. Because if I'm going to spend my V'Day listening to a fictional character read poetry to me, he should definitely sound just like Alan Rickman.

Posted by: loonatic | February 14, 2007 11:17 AM

Wolverine. I'm sure he wouldn't get too sappy.

Posted by: Another Liz | February 14, 2007 11:21 AM

Oh, this one is too easy! Mr. Darcy, of course!

Runner ups would be Jake from 16 Candles, Michael Vaughn from Alias and Jace Buckley from a book trilogy I love.

Posted by: coldinindiana | February 14, 2007 11:21 AM

YES! Mr. Darcy of course (Colin Firth, naturally).

But also Horatio Hornblower as played by Ioan Gruffuld. He can sail my ship anytime!

Posted by: Largo, MD | February 14, 2007 11:23 AM

Johnny Depp's Don Juan DeMarco. He could melt the snow.

Posted by: stuck in Toronto | February 14, 2007 11:26 AM

ooh, Christian Bale's magician from The Prestige. sizzle.............

Posted by: DC | February 14, 2007 11:27 AM

Batman.

Posted by: darastar | February 14, 2007 11:33 AM

Linda Carter's Wonder Woman. She could tie me up with her golden lasso!

Posted by: dmk | February 14, 2007 11:34 AM

Diana Rigg as Emma Peel, surely.

Posted by: Michael T | February 14, 2007 11:35 AM

Mr. Big from Sex and the City, hands down... he could show a girl a good time.

Posted by: CMC | February 14, 2007 11:37 AM

Cliched, I know, but give me Lloyd Dobbler any day of the week. If it was Lloyd Dobbler with an English accent, that would be even better.

Posted by: Emmie | February 14, 2007 11:37 AM

hermione granger, you know, if she were old enough. because I like smart women.

Posted by: retep | February 14, 2007 11:37 AM

Colleen McMurphy from China Beach . . . Dana Delany is a beautiful woman (with a real woman's body, not the stick figures that pass for Hollywood stars today) she was compassionate and caring . . . who wouldn't love her?

Posted by: Colorado Kool-Aid | February 14, 2007 11:39 AM

Hands down, Capt. Frederick Wentworth from Persuasion. He pens a good love letter.

Posted by: Editress | February 14, 2007 11:40 AM

Give me Christian from Moulin Rouge any day. Man's got talent.

Posted by: Musigal | February 14, 2007 11:44 AM

Oh, how about that guy in Love Actually who is in love with his best friend's wife (Keira Knightly) and goes to her door with those hand-written signs? If he weren't hung up on Keira, I'm sure he'd be a great Valentine date. Plus, I know he's got an accent.

Posted by: Emmie | February 14, 2007 11:47 AM

Give me Christian from Moulin Rouge any day. Man's got talent.

Posted by: Musigal | February 14, 2007 11:50 AM

Oh that's easy for me. Josh Lyman, Deputy Chief of Staff on the West Wing. I love a mix of snarkiness and political savvy.

Posted by: LV | February 14, 2007 11:52 AM

Oh that's easy for me. Josh Lyman, Deputy Chief of Staff on the West Wing. I love a mix of snarkiness and political savvy.

Posted by: LV | February 14, 2007 11:52 AM

Emmie, I second that. Thought of him first, but I think I'd be better off with Wesley from Princess Bride. Valentine's Day would be lovely filled with the phrase "as you wish". ;-)

Posted by: anon | February 14, 2007 11:52 AM

I've always wanted to enter the Xander Zone (Vin Diesel from XXX). He's got the voice of the Devil but the arms of a Greek God...*sigh*

Posted by: Sharon | February 14, 2007 11:52 AM

Kermit the Frog... Miss Piggy move over!

Posted by: M | February 14, 2007 11:54 AM

Mark Darcy (from Bridget Jones Diary, love the British accent)
Leonardo DiCaprio (I know he's not fiction, but damn it I LOVE him)
Lance Sullivan (from the Best Man, Morris Chestnut is smokin' hot)
This is really weird, Captain Jack Sparrow (from Pirates of the Caribbean, the man has bad teeth and probably smells, but I don't care Johnny Depp is still hot)

Posted by: Lisa | February 14, 2007 11:55 AM

Noah Calhoun (the younger version) the main character from The Notebook..::sigh:: Romantic, strong, funny, talk about devoted..and hot as all heck..!
Or maybe Westley from The Princess Bride..'as *I* wish' indeed...

Posted by: Beth | February 14, 2007 11:55 AM

Have to agree with Lisa on that last one, all reasons pro and con included....:)

Posted by: LOL.... | February 14, 2007 12:03 PM

Jim Halpert! Yes... and he can even make funny faces into the camera that follows us around.

Posted by: Nicole | February 14, 2007 12:04 PM

George Clooney's character from ER:
a) it's George - he's hot hot hot
b) he's a doctor - and a pediatrician at that
c) he was smooth with the ladies

Posted by: yummy men | February 14, 2007 12:06 PM

Heathcliff, from "Wuthering Heights" b/c he's got serious passion

Posted by: brigitte | February 14, 2007 12:07 PM

Ferris Bueller. We've only got one day here, people, he'd make it count.

Posted by: funny men | February 14, 2007 12:09 PM

I have an inexcusable crush on Annabeth Chase from "Close to Home."

Posted by: polystyreneman | February 14, 2007 12:14 PM

Stephan Maturin from the Patrick O'Brien books- Brilliant, diverse, adventurous, compassionate, worldly, wealthy. After all, he did eventually overcome the laudenaum addiction. We would have to work on the sense of humor, though.

The Ninth Doctor Who- smart, funny, compassionate, and could take me anywhere I wanted to go. Plus I think Christopher Eccleston is gorgeous (although he's better looking on Heroes.)

Posted by: a bit out to sea | February 14, 2007 12:19 PM

Jim Halpert, absolutely. Move over, Pam and Karen!

Posted by: bethesda | February 14, 2007 12:20 PM

Lloyd Dobler (John Cusack) from "Say Anything" - he's confused, funny, and an incurable romantic (holding stereo aloft with "In Your Eyes" playing outside his love interest's room)

Posted by: T | February 14, 2007 12:25 PM

Legolas - i love that crazy elf.

Posted by: jcm | February 14, 2007 12:27 PM

Ah, back in my soap-watching days, I LOVED "Sonny Corinthos", General Hospital's hot, dark, and handsome mobster. Mmmmm... dangerous, rich, hot latin temper... love it!

These days I'd say McDreamy because he is so freaking dreamy. Drives me nuts. I swore I'd never like that show and now I can't help myself.

Posted by: Melinda Boyd | February 14, 2007 12:28 PM

Vic Mackey from The Shield...he's so dirty, so nasty, but it's just a one-nighter and you know he would make it worth the while! Yum.

Posted by: IndyAnna | February 14, 2007 12:32 PM

What great posts....most of my ideas are already taken!
But I have to add the Cary Grant character (Johnnie) from the movie "Holiday." He's gets rich and then wants to go off and have fun.
Also Mr. Knightley from "Emma."

Posted by: Barb | February 14, 2007 12:33 PM

Jordan Catalano from My So Called Life. No need for him to actually talk...

Posted by: S | February 14, 2007 12:34 PM

1. Mr. Darcy from the newest Pride and Predjudice. Colin Firth is great, but the actor in the Kiera Knightly version makes me melt every time I watch the movie.

2. Noah Calhoun (Ryan Gosling) in The Notebook

3. Lloyd Dobbler

Posted by: LS | February 14, 2007 12:35 PM

Jake Ryan is definitely high on my list. As is Jim Halpert. Oh, and Rhett Butler should be on the list as well.

Posted by: Snowed In | February 14, 2007 12:36 PM

James Bond, as portrayed by Daniel Craig. Especially at his little villa in the Bahamas, or the Mediterranean. O yes

Posted by: mmmmm | February 14, 2007 12:37 PM

I second the Josh Lyman poster, but would just as happy with Sam Seaborne.

Posted by: m | February 14, 2007 12:40 PM

Depp's role in Chocolat, kind of a gypsie, those eyes, nice hair.....I'm sorry was I saying something?

Posted by: depp fan | February 14, 2007 12:47 PM

Major Dick Winters from Band of Brothers, I have a huge crush on Damian Lewis and this is his best character.

Posted by: dym | February 14, 2007 12:50 PM

Give me Josh Lyman anyday of the week, but I'd much prefer EVERYDAY. :)

Jake Ryan is up there because he looks so similar to my high school sweetheart.

Of course McDreamy.

Posted by: Jessica | February 14, 2007 12:54 PM

It's a tie between Mr. Big from Sex and the City and Will Bailey from The West Wing!

Posted by: C.M. | February 14, 2007 12:55 PM

Peter Petrelli from Heroes...assuming he had access to all his powers. Moonlit flying over NYC, anyone? Actually, his brother Nathan would be preferable, but he's married. Sigh.

Barring anyone with superpowers, Agent Sealy Booth from Bones would do it for me. Snarky, sexy, sensitive, manly...

Posted by: funky | February 14, 2007 12:57 PM

Jack Bauer, Sam Seaborne - though he's kind of quirky, Samantha's young boyfriend Smith from Sex and the City - delish!

Posted by: In Luv | February 14, 2007 12:57 PM

Dr. McDreamy
Dr. McSteamy

At the same time. :)

Posted by: Danielle | February 14, 2007 12:59 PM

George Clooney, of course, but in One Fine Day or Ocean's Eleven, even if he's a con. He'd have serious competition in the form of Francisco Leal, the main character in Isabel Allende's novel 'Of Love and Shadow'-- have loved him since I was 14 (am 36 now).

Posted by: JJE | February 14, 2007 12:59 PM

Grissom from "CSI."

Det. Dave Robicheaux from the James Lee Burke books

Either of Bradley Whitfield's characters ("West Wing," "Studio 60").

Tony Hill (Robson Green) in "Wire in the Blood"

Posted by: b | February 14, 2007 1:06 PM

Susan Ivonova from Babylon 5 -- smart, funny, beautiful, and has her own space ship; what's not to love?

Although Colorado Kool-Aid's got a good pick, too. Colleen McMurphy is definitely in the top 3 (maybe after Willow from Buffy the Buffy Slayer, back when she still liked guys).

Posted by: GP | February 14, 2007 1:07 PM

"Legolas - i love that crazy elf."

You ain't kiddin'.

Posted by: Kim | February 14, 2007 1:08 PM

If I say my dream date is Elizabeth Bennet, will that help me hook up with the secretly-hot English major types that I dig in real life?

Posted by: Call me Darcy | February 14, 2007 1:11 PM

C.K. Dexter Haven (Philadelphia Story-Cary Grant version, please)I'd be his redhead...

Posted by: LABF | February 14, 2007 1:14 PM

Emmie & Anon -
the name of the actors you're speaking of are Andrew Lincoln and Cary Elwes.

Posted by: | February 14, 2007 1:21 PM

Han Solo or even maybe Bo Duke (if he let me drive the General?) ;-)

Then there's Angel- you know, the vampire? OMG his eyes........ Or maybe Spike...... something about a 'bad boy'........

Posted by: Dawn | February 14, 2007 1:21 PM

I'd go along with any of the Jane Austen heroes - Alan Rickman's Col. Brandon (Sense & Sensibility) for sure, but also Wentworth (Persuasion) and Knightley (Emma). Colin Firth was the perfect Mr. Darcy, IMO, but not sure if he's Valentine material for me. Not sentimental enough!

Posted by: Cindy | February 14, 2007 1:25 PM

Samantha Carter from Stargate SG-1. Brilliantly smart & brilliant blue eyes.

Or maybe Michelle Pfeifer's Catwoman. Woof.

Posted by: Dorko | February 14, 2007 1:38 PM

Much as I adore Ioan, I was in agreement with the wanker in the first film that Horatio was snotty. He never really loosened up, either, unless you count the Spanish prison bit with Archie. Give me Archie Kennedy any day. Failing that, Hans from Daniel Deronda (or Daniel). Or Lee Adama. I just want me some Jamie Bamber :)

Posted by: MB | February 14, 2007 1:49 PM

Nick Stokes from "CSI" - hot hot hot.

Posted by: | February 14, 2007 1:50 PM

Thomas Crown, the Pierce Brosnan version.

Posted by: musicgeek | February 14, 2007 1:52 PM

Hard to choose.....

Peter Parker (Spiderman)
Lloyd Dobler (Say Anything)
William Thacker (Notting Hill)
Legolas (Lord of the Rings)
George Bailey (It's a Wonderful Life)

weird, I know!

but especially Ryan Adams (the singer) - he is real but definitely unattainable - for me anyway

Posted by: kindatired | February 14, 2007 2:09 PM

Fox Mulder. Yummy. Or Sam Beckett from Quantum Leap. Double yummy.

Does anyone else notice how fantasy men outnumber fantasy women by about 20 to 1?

Posted by: Mister Methane | February 14, 2007 2:15 PM

John Crichton from Farscape (especially when he's wearing those leather pants).

Han Solo from Star Wars.

Bobby McDonnell from The Practice.

Alan Shore from Boston Legal.

Posted by: CJB | February 14, 2007 2:19 PM

Thanks Methane - I was about to make the same observation. Maybe we just don't go for fictional characters... Either it's Liz Bennett (VERY cool but a little repressed) or its Laura Croft or however you spell it (hot but a total wacko nutjob). Where are the strong women characters of fiction? There ARE some, I'm sure, but why don't we fall in love with them?

Posted by: Bogota | February 14, 2007 2:24 PM

OK, let me date my self:
Magnum, PI
George Caldwell (Gene Wilder in "Silver Streak")
The Sackett brother played by Sam Elliott in "The Sacketts"...I can listen to his voice anytime, anywhere
Any Fred Astaire character.... just so I could dance with him.

Posted by: oregoncshell | February 14, 2007 2:25 PM

George Caldwell (Gene Wilder in "Silver Streak")...just something about him
The Sackett brother played by Sam Elliott in "The Sacketts"...I can listen to his voice all day, every day
Any Fred Astaire character.... just so I could dance with him.

Posted by: oregoncshell | February 14, 2007 2:26 PM

Hellboy.

Okay, he's a bit red and lumpy, and he does sometimes sprout horns, but a strong woman needs a strong man.

Sometimes you just can't get enough of that demon testosterone.

Posted by: Cubeland, MD | February 14, 2007 2:27 PM

Harry Lockhart from Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. (Robert Downey Jr.)

Posted by: | February 14, 2007 2:35 PM

Capt. Jack Harkness from Doctor Who.
Rick Sammler from Once and Again.
Either Henry, Daniel or Ignacio from Ugly Betty. Any of them.
Jack Bauer.
Definitely agree that Horatio Hornblower would be swoon-worthy.
Rupert Giles from Buffy.
Lorne from Angel.
That really cute guy on the Metro. OK, he's real, but he's still unattainable.

Posted by: So many fictional characters, so little time | February 14, 2007 2:37 PM

The first one that comes to mind is Fox Mulder ... he is corny, but yet so hot. Perfect! :)

Runners-up include Indiana Jones (Raiders of the Lost Ark era), Jordan Catalano (I always wished I could be Angela in the scene where they hold hands for the first time in the hallway .... sigh!), and Val Kilmer's Batman.

Posted by: Amber | February 14, 2007 2:38 PM

ahhh...lloyd dobbler...

Posted by: Betty | February 14, 2007 2:42 PM

The Woman, of course. Irene Adler from "A Scandal in Bohemia."

Posted by: Great Stone Face | February 14, 2007 2:44 PM

1. Senator McCallister (Rob Lowe, "Brothers and Sisters") (I don't normally go for Republicans, but seriously, so hot.)

2. Johnny Depp/Captain Jack Sparrow("Pirates of the Carribean")/J.M. Barrie("Finding Neverland") (really any of them, any time)

3. Mr. Darcy (preferably right after he's emerged from a lake)

4. Aragorn/Boromir/Faramir (I have a thing for Lord of the Rings in general)

5. George Clooney (classic, enough said)

Posted by: hc | February 14, 2007 2:49 PM

1. McDreamy
1. Josh Lyman
1. Mr. Darcy (Colin Firth style)

Hermione Granger, preferably once she's a little older. Intelligence, courage, conscience, loyalty, an independent spirit and a feminine heart, what more could a man want? Magic powers?

(Well... there is the matter of looks, but she's got that covered too.)

Posted by: Alexander | February 14, 2007 3:01 PM

Krycek, baby!

The runners up are:

Gillian Anderson as Agent Scully
Susan Sarandon's character in "Bull Durham"
Patricia Heaton's character in "...Raymond"
Tina Fey as Weekend Update anchor "Tina Fey"
Karen Allen as tavern owner in "Raiders..." especially the way she kisses Indy him at the end. *Sigh*

And the winner is: CJ Craig in "West Wing" . Tough/fragile and sexy/ugly at the same time.

Posted by: dlg | February 14, 2007 3:04 PM

Finn from Grey's Anatomy- I never would pick McDreamy! Bring on Chris O'Donnell!

I could get Lost on an island with Sawyer anytime.

Posted by: Moll | February 14, 2007 3:08 PM

Sam Seaborn- The West Wing
Jason Bourne- The Bourne series
Danny Ocean- Ocean's Eleven
Billy Costigan- The Departed
Rob Gordon- High Fidelity

all very yummy

Posted by: ajy | February 14, 2007 3:11 PM

(Sorry in advance for the blasphemy.) He's a good looking man, but why are Colin Firth's Darcy roles such desirable Valentine's dates? Neither would provide sparkling dinner conversation and they're kind of stalkers. I'd prefer someone like Vince Vaughan in Swingers. We'd never see each other again, but it would be an epic evening.

Posted by: Be my valentine, Colin Firth | February 14, 2007 3:31 PM

Absolutely Sealy Booth from Bones!

And is it possible that I'm the only loser who finds Michael Scofield (Prison Break) attractive? Minus the whole convict aspect, of course...

Posted by: | February 14, 2007 3:32 PM

1. LOST's Sawyer.

2. Mr. Big. Abso-lutely

Posted by: Julie | February 14, 2007 3:35 PM

Robert Wagner's Alexander Mundy from It Takes a Thief TV show in the last 60s. I know this shows my age but that character was my first Hollywood crush and I still love him. What a sexy character.

Posted by: b | February 14, 2007 3:35 PM

and not to forget...Dr. Burke or Sam Seaborn.

Posted by: | February 14, 2007 3:38 PM

Pacey Witter - Dawson's Creek

Danny McCoy - Las Vegas (Josh Duhamel) - I'm quite suprised he hasn't shown up yet.

Posted by: cb | February 14, 2007 3:44 PM

Lloyd Dobbler
Josh Lyman
how about Steve from Sex and the City? I like the nerdy intellectual type.

Posted by: | February 14, 2007 3:48 PM

Dr. John Carter. Tormented, smart, trying to save the world.

Posted by: | February 14, 2007 3:49 PM

1. Julian Sands as George Emerson (whom I would want to be seduced by...)

2. Daniel Day-Lewis as Cecil Vyse (with whom I would want to do the seducing)
-both from the movie "A Room with a View"

Posted by: | February 14, 2007 3:50 PM

Jessica Rabbit. As Chandler, from Friends, said, I'd really like to see if I could make her eyes do that *booiiinnngg!!!* thing. Or maybe Willow - does magic and likes girls. Think of the possibilities.

Posted by: fft5305 | February 14, 2007 3:50 PM

Han Solo or even maybe Bo Duke (if he let me drive the General?) ;-)

Then there's Angel- you know, the vampire? OMG his eyes........ Or maybe Spike...... something about a 'bad boy'........

Willow? The midget warrior?

Posted by: Emmie | February 14, 2007 3:58 PM

Cubeland!!! Talk about thinking outside the box!!! Your choice easily blows away all the other fantasy males. I take it you're thinking of Ron Perlman's portrayal of Hellboy: swaggering, tough and sardonic on the outside, tender and kind hearted on the inside. Ane he even loves cats. What's there not to like? Hellboy can take the heat.

Anyone who tags Hellboy as a fantasy date has got to be one tough woman. I admire your choice.

Aidan on Sex and the City used to be Chris in the Morning on Northern Exposure -- John Corbett (in real life now with Bo Derek). Anyone remember the running of the bulls in Cicely, Alaska?

Posted by: | February 14, 2007 4:09 PM

1.)Tony Leung from the movie Hero. For so much hot to be crammed in to one person is in defiance of all rules of physics.

2.)Martin Freeman (Tim from the British office). He is ridiculousy dorky and muppet-like, but still utterly, completely my dream man. I will form an orderly queue for you anytime, Tim.

3.) Last but most definitely not least...Ewan MacGregor in any durn role he plays. My friends and I rented Velvet Goldmine just to watch him dance around completely naked on stage. I thought my eyes would burn out from the pure beams of radiant perfection shooting from the screen. Oh baby.

Emmie, I'll gladly take Warwick Davies. I was distraught (ok, not really - mildly disappointed?) to learn that he's married.

Jim Halpert, definitely. That guy has a lot of romantic energy pent up...

Posted by: office pam | February 14, 2007 4:24 PM

John Malkovitch's character from Dangerous Liasons. Valmont? Swoon.

Posted by: emb | February 14, 2007 4:28 PM

Angel ("Angel") or Aragorn (Lord of the Rings)

Posted by: acarp | February 14, 2007 4:31 PM

Spike the Vampire. He's the ultimate reformed bad boy, he's got an English accent (even if it's fake) and dimples and a lovely physique, and it would be kinda interesting because he'd be all room temperature. Seriously, I always wondered how the (ahem) mechanics of that worked with someone who has no pulse...

Posted by: Sunnydale (not Snowyville like here) | February 14, 2007 4:32 PM

So much hotness, so little time....
Top 10: in no particular order
-Lincoln Burrows, Prison Break(who doesn't love a man who's running from the law)
-Dean Winchester, Supernatural(what can I say, the man does it for me every thursday night!)
-Sawyer, Lost(I know I'm not the only one here!)
-Jake Green, Jericho(it's those quiet types you gotta watch out for)
-Jim, The Office(who wouldn't fall in love with a prankster)
-Dexter Morgan, Dexter (serial killer or not, he's totally hot)
-Noah Calhoun, The Notebook(need I say more)
-The Transporter(I always like a man who can get the job done)
-Angel, Angel/Buffy(I think we all know what I'm talking about)
-Van Wilder(who wouldn't want a man that can make you laugh?!)

1. Fielding Pierce from Scott Spencer's "Waking the Dead" (played perfectly by Billy Crudup in the movie, but really as long as it's Fielding, I'd be happy!)

2. And rather obviously, Dr. McDreamy aka Derek Shepherd on Grey's Anatomy - one dimensional he may be, but with that smile and those eyes, who cares?

** Side note, did anyone on here realize that Mr. Darcy (Colin Firth) and Mr. Darcy (Matthew Macfadyen, from the 2005 version) played brothers in Love, Actually? Firth's girl totally left him for Macfadyen. **

Jack Foley - Out of Sight (George Clooney)
And I second Rick Sammler - Once & Again (Bill Campbell)
Denny - Grey's Anatomy (Jeffrey Dean Morgan...hello? Minus the whole heart condition thing. And he's coming back to Grey's...hmmm)

For one evening of romantic shmoop? I would definitely have to go with a romantic...

Don Juan de Marco
Henry Roth from 50 first dates
Lloyd Dobler from Say Anything
Any Fred Astaire character (for snarky conversation and loving looks)
and... er...
Rodney McKay from Stargate Atlantis. What? I like my nerds! I could learn something!

Posted by: slightlyinsane | February 14, 2007 4:47 PM

Hawkeye (Daniel Day-Lewis) from Last of the Mohicans
Danny from Las Vegas
Rhett Butler - Gone With The Wind

Re the Darcy's - I definitely didn't notice that and I've seen both movies about a million times. Great catch. I'll just have to make it a million-and-one! Both are dreamy actors :-)

Vincent d'Onofrio was hot in "Mystic Pizza", & still not so bad in L&O CI.

Posted by: | February 14, 2007 5:13 PM

Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Wolverine. I loooove the bad guys with a soft spot (that's definitely not the abs, pecs, or arms!).

Posted by: falls church | February 14, 2007 5:17 PM

...totally agree with Michael Scofield from Prison Break. Brainy, buffed, devoted to his family. Nothing not to love.

Posted by: one more thought | February 14, 2007 5:23 PM

I'd spend valumtimes with Strongbad - that would be rockin cool if it didnt make my face hurt.

Posted by: Quintilius Varus | February 14, 2007 5:33 PM

I once had a raunchy dream about Gil Grisham. My friends teased me for weeks that our love child is the little girl with the bug obsession in the PBS commercials.

Pierce Brosnan's Thomas Crown and yes, I'd do my best Renee Russo imitation. "(sigh) Men make women messy..."

Hill Harper's The Nephew. I love sweet, dangerous, forbidden love.

Steve Harris' lawyer on The Practice - THOSE LIPS, THAT HEAD, THOSE HANDS - Holy Smoke - its hot in here...

Malike Yoba's New York Undercover detective. THOSE LIPS, THAT HEAD, THOSE HANDS - I am sensing a pattern here.

Russell Wong's lecherous character in the Joy Luck Club. This is one time a sister would have no problems eating watermelon in front of non-family members.

Gotta take Number Six (Tricia Helfer) from the new Battlestar Galactica! Man is she HOT! And she KNOWS how to flaunt it. And as a Cylon, she probably does not have any problem with stamina.

Have to also say that I'm a long-time fan of Scully!! Smart AND Sexy!! But also, honorable mention to the women of Alias -- Sydney and Nadia, of course, but also Renée Rienne and even Lauren Reed! I'll take any one (or two or three)!

Mr. Big from Sex & the City-

Bullitt- Steve McQueen

Have I told you lately that you rock? Fabulous list.

Posted by: Liz | February 14, 2007 9:38 PM

That was really sad about Anna Nicole. First her son and then her. That poor baby will have to grow up alone.

Posted by: Tanning Lotion | February 15, 2007 12:44 AM

Okay, apparently neither guys nor lesbians want any part of this List. Interesting convergence of interests.

Posted by: WoW | February 15, 2007 12:45 AM

John Barrowan from Torchwood. LOVELY!!

Posted by: alliecat | February 15, 2007 5:45 AM

Rhett Butler from Gone With the Wind would be my choice.

"* Side note, did anyone on here realize that Mr. Darcy (Colin Firth) and Mr. Darcy (Matthew Macfadyen, from the 2005 version) played brothers in Love, Actually? Firth's girl totally left him for Macfadyen. **"

FYI, it was Dan Fredenburgh not Matthew MacFayden playing Colin Firth's brother in Love, Actually.

Posted by: Anne | February 15, 2007 10:00 AM

Has anyone said Jack Bauer yet? I think Valentine's Day would probably end up sucking because we'd get no time together, I'd be kidnapped and he'd be tortured. But whatever, he's still all grit and hotness.

Also, the two dudes from Y Tu Mama Tambien, because, yikes.

And Michael Bluth from Arrested Development. Even if that means I wouldn't want to marry into the family. :)

Posted by: Gala | February 15, 2007 10:32 AM

Captain Von Trapp from the Sound of Music. I have had a crush on him since I was 10.

Posted by: ExCap | February 15, 2007 10:43 AM

Tristan (Brad Pitt) in Legends of the Fall. Wow.

Posted by: JL | February 15, 2007 10:52 AM

How about Jack from Dawson's Creek...

Posted by: Gregnva | February 15, 2007 11:56 AM

FYI, Emmie - Willow from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, not Willow the little person.

Posted by: fft5305 | February 15, 2007 11:56 AM

Bailey Quarters... or maybe Maggie O'Connell.

Posted by: Max | February 15, 2007 11:58 AM

Erm. The entire cast of Band of Brothers. Especially, the British guy who played Major Winters. Oh and Matthew Settle who played Capt. Speirs. I could go on and on.

Posted by: sigh | February 15, 2007 3:04 PM

Ooooh... not to reveal myself as the Trek Geek I am, but Jean Luc Picard. Mr. Spock. Data ("Fully functional"). Captain Benjamin Sisko!!!

And B.J. Honeycutt from M*A*S*H always seemed like a sweetie.

Posted by: Margo | February 15, 2007 3:23 PM

Ken McCoy from W. E. B. Griffin's Marine Corps series.

Posted by: Windy | February 15, 2007 3:43 PM

Gilbert Blythe from Anne of Green Gables. I had a HUGE crush on him as a kid....

Posted by: late | February 15, 2007 3:49 PM

House from House
Grissom from CSI
Toby from The West Wing

(I like my men intelligent, introverted, and often grumpy)

Wolverine

Remington Steele

The Austen trio: Mr. Darcy, Captain Wentworth, Colonel Brandon (as played by Colin Firth, Ciaran Hinds, and Alan Rickman)

Posted by: Arlington | February 15, 2007 3:55 PM

Pierce Brosnan as Thomas Crown or Remington Steele - the suave sophistication, that accent, those eyes

Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry) - he'd keep me laughing all night, and I always thought he was cuter than Joey

Sawyer from Lost - he can take me in a cage any time

Posted by: Rosslyn | February 15, 2007 4:30 PM

Also, Superman from Lois & Clark (Dean Cane) - so hot

Posted by: Rosslyn | February 15, 2007 5:10 PM

moe syzlak...........I hate to love that little troll.

Carhole!

Posted by: your husband | February 16, 2007 3:58 PM

Grimace, no doubt.

Posted by: The Hamburgler | February 16, 2007 6:26 PM

You all can keep your Jane-Austen-leading-men! I'll take Richard Armitage as 'John Thornton' from Elizabeth Gaskell's "North and South" any day!
