Without question: "Tremors," with Fred Ward, Kevin Bacon, Michael Gross, Reba McEntire and Finn Carter...I don't care much for horror movies generally, but this one had just the right combination of humor and thrills to make it one I've seen at least ten times...I'll watch it every time it is on cable, particularly HBO or pay cable, so I can hear the unexpurgated "F*********** YOU!" Kevin Bacon says to the giant groundworm that has brained itself on the side of the irrigation ditch...The sequel Tremors 3 isn't too bad either...

If I see The Princess Bride, Office Space, or Real Genius, I feel compelled to watch.

The only videos my toddler and I can stand to watch over and over again are the HBO Classical Babys. I like them because they don't try to teach anything. Other videos are SO repetitive with their earnest recitations of the alphabet, letters, shapes and colors.

I agree with IndyAnna - A lot of these are not guilty pleasure movies at all, but are just really good movies. For example, "The Shawshank Redemption" and "Goodfellas" are terrific movies, nowhere near being guilty pleasures.

To be considered at all for the appellation "guilty pleasure", a movie should have been decimated by the critics. Completely tanking at the box office helps, too. The old 1966 "Batman" mentioned above is a great example. For guys, I think we get a pass on a good, popular movie if it's too much of a "chick flick". Anything with Shirley MacLaine could qualify as a guilty pleasure for a guy.

For me, "Joe versus the Volcano" is my guilty pleasure. It has it all--critics hated it like cancer, it did as well at the box office as an art-house foreign language documentary, and it gives off a strong whiff of chickflickness. But I always stop to watch it if its on TV. That scene with the luggage store guy KILLS me!

Blazing Saddles - definitely - lots of yiddish in there that almost no one understands. Always good to have a second language for Mel Brooks movies!
Something about Mary????? The scene where the dog flies out of the window accidentally... and Mary with the sperm on her hair that she thinks is hair gel???
My favorite movie to restore my faith in humanity: "A Town Called Alice" - it's an Aussie film based on Neville Chute's book "The Legacy". Keep it around for when I feel dark.
