I love Bruce Willis. I think he is a great actor and I can't wait until Die Hard comes out in the summer.

Posted by: Irish girl | May 1, 2007 9:04 AM

If you read the Debra Messing story, the ads on the page are for Legally Blond the Musical. The movie wasn't bad, but a musical?!?! Oy vey. Why can't anyone come up with an original idea? (see also, every summer blockbuster is a #3)

Posted by: md | May 1, 2007 9:06 AM

Does anyone else find it funny that Size -2 Victoria Beckham has a kitchen as large as a decent sized condo?

Posted by: Chasmosaur | May 1, 2007 9:20 AM

Brit, Brit, Brit... honey, even strippers don't wear cowboy boots with *everything*.

Posted by: byoolin | May 1, 2007 9:42 AM

Why is Bruce Willis still famous? Other than Irish Girl and Tarantino, who likes this guy? He reminds me of my neighbor who middle-age and still tries to be hip.
Bruce is going to end up like Steven Segal making action movies with his pot belly hanging over his belt.

Posted by: Lisa1 | May 1, 2007 9:46 AM

speaking of Segal, why does he always play a cook in his movies?

Posted by: cee_jay | May 1, 2007 9:48 AM

I think the movie industry is still under the impression that most of the money comes from males aged 13-39, with pea brains, so people like Bruce Willis and Adam Sandler are famous because men "like" them.
The rest of us are either intellectual liberal wimps, or stupid women who read chick-lit and just LOVE Jen Aniston.

Posted by: POS | May 1, 2007 9:56 AM

I Like Adam Sandler too. The Wedding Singer was awesome! Maybe it is more of a Midwestern thing. Everyone I know loves John McClain, aka Bruce Willis.

Posted by: Irish girl | May 1, 2007 9:59 AM

I know it's stylish to be cynical, but I think the book that Sting's producing is going to be quite interesting. It's no secret that he was an English teacher before he was a musician and I've always been intrigued by the way he writes his lyrics. I'll have to keep an eye out for that one.

Posted by: 23112 | May 1, 2007 10:00 AM

Bruce Willis is actually pretty talented. And funny. And kind of cute in a Republican gun nut kind of way. And Sandler? How can you not like him? I don't get the people who are "above" Sandler. None of the smart, college educated adults I know fail to laugh at Billy Madison.

Posted by: Another Irish girl | May 1, 2007 10:03 AM

Hey another Irish girl. My dad said he didn't like Bruce because he was a republican. So, I saw an interview with him where he said he wasn't one. Now all is well in our house again when I go visit. Maybe he is an independent? Who knows, I think he is very funny and have been watching him since moonlighting. Sin City was cool too.

Posted by: Irish girl | May 1, 2007 10:06 AM

I'm no Willis fan, but dang did I love me some "Fifth Element."

Posted by: Liz | May 1, 2007 10:13 AM

I think Bruce Willis is awesome. He may not be the best actor in the world but you have to give him kudos on his positive outlook when it comes to Demi, Ashton and raising his kids. You won't hear any nasty voice mails to his kids.

Posted by: Sharon | May 1, 2007 10:17 AM

I'm a 29-year old male. There are very few movies in which I think Bruce Willis fails to act brilliantly. I also think most Adam Sandler movies are hilarious (excepting Spanglish and that weird movie where he has a violent relationship with his girlfriend, but both of those were good movies).

I also consider myself intellectual, but I do not read chick lit. I, however, am in love with Jennifer Aniston. And Debra Messing. And Britney Spears, but in more of a hooker kind of way. And Posh Spice, but not as much now that she's really anorexic.

And I hate Steven Seagal movies.

Just wrapping everything up together.

Posted by: Not Irish, or a Girl | May 1, 2007 10:19 AM

Courtney...
After all this time of showing everyone you had your own right to stardom - to give all that up and cash in on the fame of your dead husband and sell his stuff... i just cant believe it. (*cough*.*cough*)

Posted by: Quintilius Varus | May 1, 2007 10:20 AM

put me in the camp that likes bruce willis too, although unlike the irish girls, i've never even seen the "die hard" franchise of films. i just thought he was terrific in "the whole nine yards." and he was good in 'moonlighting' when he still had a little hair. he's not john gielgud or laurence olivier (who??) but he's decent in the right genre.
i also learned how to make corn cakes from a recipe on his website. crazy, huh?

Posted by: methinks | May 1, 2007 10:42 AM

I like my action heroes along the Harrison Ford type (I loved him in Air Force One and Blade Runner) or even the Nick Cage type (Conair). I would love to Gerard Butler in Die Hard than Bruce Willis.

I don't get Adam Sandler at all. He is like the annoying guy in high school you don't want to sit next to...blah.

Posted by: Lisa1 | May 1, 2007 10:47 AM

I'm sure that "charity" is gonna have Courtney's plastic surgeon's name alllll over it.

I suppose donating the items is out of the question.

Posted by: Bored @ work | May 1, 2007 11:01 AM

I'm sorry, but Britney should not have gone into rehab, it is soooo obvious that she should have gone to one of those "special" hospitals...the ones that have the padded rooms and electrodes. Something just ain't right with the girl.

Posted by: dym | May 1, 2007 11:20 AM

Posh was so damn HOT back in the post-Spice Girls, pre-Mrs. Beckham days that it's really sad to see what she's become. She's anorexic thin, always looking tired and worn-out, she's traded her high-fashion style for jeans and tees, and she has the same PO'ed expression in every photo I've seen this year. She is clearly a very unhappy woman. Be careful what you wish for, ladies!

Posted by: Give the girl a sammich! | May 1, 2007 11:26 AM

It must be tough for Sting to get that head through doorways. A more humble tunesmith might have waited for someone else to publish his lyrics in book form, but not Sting. He seems desperate to tell the world he's no mere musician, he's an Artist. And he's going to prove it.

Posted by: ikeaboy | May 1, 2007 11:29 AM

I'd rather sit next to Sting on a plane than Bruce Willis. Not that I'd be invited onto their private aircraft!!

Posted by: POS | May 1, 2007 11:40 AM

I understand the jealousy and hatred for Courtney Love -- because who's more possessive about their celebrities than alternative music fans? -- but I just can't agree with the viciousness over he selling off Kurt Cocaine's crap. I'm sure he accumulated a lot of junk during his brief career, and what the hell is she going to do with it? I think she's right to give Francis Bean a few relics and sell off the rest. Why shouldn't she get some money? People, that's what happens when you die -- your heirs get to decide what to do with the crap you leave them with.

All the people criticizing Courtney for selling off his stuff should be happy they have the opportunity to buy -- they obviously value it more than it's actually worth to her or in reality, because, really, how much can a fifteen-year old moth-eaten sweater cost you these days?

Posted by: DG | May 1, 2007 11:50 AM

Glad to see I am not the only " pea brain" on the board.

Posted by: Irish girl | May 1, 2007 12:09 PM

Man, Britney just makes it too easy sometimes. What in the world is going on?

Maverick sequel, I really hope this never moves from the Rumor Mill to the actual screen.

Posted by: petal | May 1, 2007 12:29 PM

"What is Britney wearing" could pretty much be a daily item nowadays ... and what's up with those holey pantyhose she wears all the time? Can't she afford a new pair?

Victoria Beckham a size 2? Looks to me like a size 2 would hang off her like a balloon. A double-zero, maybe, if she's bloated and retaining water.

Posted by: Catherine | May 1, 2007 1:04 PM

"Heather Mills likens Paul McCartney to Alec Baldwin..."

Interesting comment on her part, since most people are comparing her to the DC Madam: Both of them were only in it for the money.

Posted by: SoMD | May 1, 2007 1:22 PM

I forgot this earlier...Barbra....your talent is now where near Frank Sinatra or Elvis Presley, to say that is disrespectful. I'm sure some will pay a $1000 but honestly who wants to listen to some nasaly, stuck but biatch.

Posted by: Sharon | May 1, 2007 1:29 PM

My criticism wasn't towards people who like Willis and "Jen" etc, but towards the idiot Hollywood movie machine that attempts to pigeon-hole movie viewers into categories like, "soccer mom", "35 year old adolescent male" etc. They seem to ignore the success of "cross-over" and indie films.
I heard that Adam Sandler made a very different movie lately. Good for him. His agent probably peed his pants, though.
Now the real question is why is Paris Hilton famous?

Posted by: POS | May 1, 2007 2:53 PM

Paris Hilton is famous because of her name, her money, and people take her picture and then people buy magazines with her in it. For those of us who consume celebrity news (i.e., readers of "Celebritology") to question why Paris is famous seems hypocritical. Until the circulation numbers of US Weekly and OK and Star plummet, Paris will be famous.

Oh, and there was the little fact of her home-made movie that was coincidentally released at the same time as her tv show premiered.

That's all you need for fame these days. She'll last until she gets old, at which point, she'll disappear for a few years, and then reappear on a special episode of Dr 90210.

Posted by: OD | May 1, 2007 3:24 PM

Okay, I find Britney Spears repulsive, but I've got to point this out in the interest of fairness. This is what she wears to the GYM.

Posted by: beating a dead horse, here | May 1, 2007 3:47 PM

Wasnt much of a nirvana fan... but still. The idea that society places value on something like a bloodstained shotgun shell casing is bad enough... that this trashy vile excuse for a human feels compelled to profit off of her husband's gruesome and tragic death is, well, typical i suppose. Good for her!!! Yaaaa society!!!! Now some jackass company like Golden Palace will have something to put next to the Britney Spears home pregnancy test - and the rest of us will all feel a little better about ourselves for having wandered into the trailer to take a gander at it.

Posted by: Quintilius Varus | May 1, 2007 5:49 PM

But wait, society is us. That's you and me. We're responsible for what we value. And why is it trashy to sell one's possessions for money? Isn't that what craigslist is for? Just because she has stuff that is considered by society (you and me) to be more valuable than your typical futon doesn't mean that she shouldn't be able to profit from it. In fact, it's a waste for her to keep things that she does not value or for her to throw them out. They _should_ be auctioned off.

If I sell my grandmother's antique sewing machine that I have no use for but some collector would love, is that trashy and vile? Is there a difference? I don't see a significant one. Let's all calm down about this being the downfall of our culture.

Most people hate Courtney Love, just like most people hate Yoko Ono or Heather Mills. And it's all driven by misunderstanding, jealousy and possessiveness.

Posted by: DG | May 1, 2007 6:28 PM

misunderstanding, jealousy and possessiveness ... and I would say, possibly misogyny.

Posted by: DG | May 1, 2007 6:29 PM

i believe we all might be a bit disturbed if, for example, the Cho family decided to start selling his posessions on ebay... afterall, he doesnt need them anymore...

personally, i think there's a line there... i gather by your logic you dont. forgive me if i see that as exemplary of the problem.

Posted by: Quintilius Varus | May 1, 2007 11:01 PM

Oooo I love Bruce Willis movies and I also like Steven Segal movies.. so I guess I am not much of a movie buff. Oh well!

Posted by: Anonymous | May 2, 2007 10:53 AM

I agree on Yoko and Courtney being blamed for too much, but Heather deserves what she gets. She came to the scene literally decades after Paul was famous!

She's the worst of both worlds. She has nothing to say and, even worse, hasn't figured it out yet.

I can't stand that whiny pile. Just make her go away!
