Happy 21st Birthday, Mary-Kate and Ashley

Okay, so Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen may have been a part of one of the cheesiest TV shows ever (because, seriously, "Full House" made me want to gouge my eyes out). And maybe the twins are partly responsible for a generation of vapid girls weaned on the sap of their multimedia empire (DVDs, inexplicably ginormous sunglasses, perfume, cell phone wallpaper, books, etc.). But as the genetically similar multimillionaires turn 21 today (all true Olsen fanatics know they are actually fraternal twins), it is only fitting that we pause to honor two young starlets who are starting to look downright genius when compared with others, ahem ahem, of their approximate age.
So, happy birthday Mary-Kate and Ashley. I'm sure you'll grow out of the whole hobo/living Bratz doll thing soon.

Normally I cringe everytime I see a picture of the twins...but for some reason, they actually look good in todays pic.
Maybe I need to cut back on the booze and smack.

They look terrible. Their faces are drawn and their eyes look old. Of course with all the money they have they could stop now and try to live a normal life but they probably won't. I feel sorry for them as they won't always be cute. I don't think they look cute anymore. Just worn out.

Thank you, JM! Even back in the day I thought of them as "those poor monkey-faced children," and it continues to amaze me that anyone considered them cute then or attractive now. (I won't even get started on how it makes me want to scream when TV tries to sell people on the idea that it's funny, instead of cause for concern, when children have severe speech impediments -- e.g., the Olsens on "Full House," the actress who played the youngest kid on "The Brady Bunch.")

AMEN! And it's still gifting us with that same visceral response today thanks to Nickolodeon and my kids viewing habits.

I know they say they are fraternal, but I don't believe it. They literally look like clones of one another. That would make them identical twins. I'd have to see the DNA test results before I'd believe they're fraternal.

I never understood why parents brought the cult of Olsen merchandise for the daughters. The Mary Kate and Ashley are anorexic millionaires who mock bag ladies and Lindsay Lohan.
They are dangerous to tweens everywhere.
