with regard to justin timberlake's comments about britney's popularity... it appears he's learned something about the human condition. we're all able to overlook stuff as long as we get what we want.
ny yankees fans don't care if a-rod has a gal in every port(or major league city), they don't care if he's aloof, they don't care about anything as long as he plays well. the same thing is true of pop star fans. when/if britney ever starts performing (for real, not lip synching) again, if her songs make people want to dance or make out or whatever, they won't care where she's stowed her children or what rehab counselor she's dating. it's all about what have you done for me lately.

methinks, you can call me "Lifesaver."

"What have you done for me lately" was Janet Jackson. :-)

"I was not eating or sleeping," Paris Hilton told Barbara Walters by telephone. "I was severely depressed and felt as if I was in a cage. I was not myself. It was a horrible experience."
It's jail. Isn't feeling as though you're in a cage kind of the idea? I think it's called a behavior deterrent. And now, of course, she has found religion.
"I have become much more spiritual. God has given me this new chance."
Paris couldn't spell spiritual. And she'll blow this "new chance" just like every other opportunity she's been given to do something productive with her life.

I can't believe how much I've been defending Paris Hilton this past week, but here it goes. I feel like she's damned if she does and damned if she doesn't. If she complains and tries to get out of her sentence, she's deemed a spoiled brat. If she's gracious and tries to make the best of her situation, she's insincere and unintelligent. No matter what she does, she can't win. I feel for her.
I'm not saying we should all become zealous fans of Paris Hilton, but let's give her a chance and see what she does with these recent turn of events. It's not fair to make judgments either way at this point.

Carrot Top: was he visiting or the joining the act. I couldn't tell.
Britney/K-Fed: "The Tommy Lee & Pam" for the tween set.
Why do people in Hollywood bother to get marry? Don't they know it's not going to last

Noelle -
I also can't believe how much you've been defending Paris Hilton this week. Are you on her payroll? Part of her entourage? Babysitting her chihuahua while she's staying at the Iron-Bar Hilton? Lol

i agree with noelle....
maybe she will come out of this a better person.
really, it could happen. jail did wonders for Robert Downey Jr.
Oh, wait. He's actually talented. Bad comparison.

"If she's gracious and tries to make the best of her situation, she's insincere and unintelligent. No matter what she does, she can't win."
Noelle,
Actually, there's a third option. She could quietly do her time (without calling Barbara Walters and giving an interview from jail), humbly depart the prison when she's completed her sentence, and, with minimal publicity, go on to do the acts of charity she's talking to Babs about.
With this option, she could definitely "win."
However, it would be foregoing the media attention she so craves. Until she can renounce that, she'll have an uphill battle to "win" any public approval.

dermot mulroney is a no talent who has just gotten lucky to be cast. Keener should be glad to be away from him. I can't stand to see him in movies, he ruins the entire movie for me.

Carrot Top ... WHOA. I can see why someone would be scared, seeing him woke me up quicker than my tea!
I never knew Catherine Keener and Dermot Mulroney were married. 17 years at that!! The fact that they were never in the tabloids/media (were they?) should have made for a successful marriage. Sigh.

Paris Hilton is a human being.
In the picture that I saw of her crying, it looked to me like she was suffering. It made me feel bad. Just about everyone else I know, laughed at her, and made fun of her.
People like to see suffering, don't they?
People like to make "silly" girls cry.
Men get off making making a blonge girl cry.
Women bare their fangs and claws, to see this girl cry.
It is disgusting.
I know that the suffering that Paris Hilton is going through is not very great, and cannot compare to true suffering. But apparently, she has had a sheltered life, and doesn't have much experience in the real world. Maybe all of this will be good for in the long run, and help her to grow up.
But it certainly doesn't me make smile, to see her suffer. No wonder the world is in such bad shape, when making fun of human suffering is just sport for most people.

oh for crying out loud, daniel. other than really sicko type people no one really wants to see paris 'suffer.' i didn't smile seeing photos of her crying, hearing her cry out for her mom, or hearing the awful things sarah silverman said at the mtv awards but she's going to jail because of her own actions. she should cry. and then she should grow up and get over herself. i don't feel any differently about paris hilton than i would some no name, selfish, 20-something headed to the county lock up where i live.
this is a celebritology blog where people who like to read about celebrities, the good, bad, and ugly, can also dish about celebrities. posters such as yerself irritate me with your arrogance and self-righteousness.

I saw her crying, and I laughed.
I read that she cried out for her mother, and I was thrilled.
I understand that she will spend a month in jail, and I felt like I was going to have a great weekend (which I did).
You can criticize me all you want, Dannyboy, but Paris has exploited herself for her own personal gain to the point that it was inevitable strangers would take comfort in seeing her fall. You reap what you sow. Luckily for her, Americans also love redemption. She will not find it difficult to get back on top (e.g., see afternoon post re: Pee-wee).

Wow, you have such little compassion. I hope you are never in a position that you need the compassion of others. It seems easy for you to sit there and be self righteous and judgmental.
But, I have to think that if I were to mess up and find myself in the position of heading off to jail, I'd be crying too. Don't think it could happen to you? Think you are better than that? Well, so did one of my friends. Then one rainy night, a pedestrian walked out in front of her and she hit him. She nearly killed him. Because of some of the circumstances surrounding the accident, there were several months where she was facing potential prison time. Fortunately things worked out. But, that moment taught me that good, honest, hard-working, people can have their lives changed in the flash of a second. So, don't sit there and be so high and mighty. You don't know what life has in store for you or when you will need the compassion of others.

"But, that moment taught me that good, honest, hard-working, people can have their lives changed in the flash of a second." - To OD
Except that Paris Hilton never had to work hard at anything in her life. If I remember right, no one had even heard of her before a certain sex tape became public, so no I don't feel sorry for her and yes I did get a little giddy when I read about her crying for her mommy. This isn't something that happned TO her, this is something she did TO herself. SHE drove under the influence, SHE drove with a suspended license, when she got caught SHE continued to drive with a suspended license. SHE showed up to court late...judges hate that. She has not done anything for me to feel bad for her.
Posted by: st. louis | June 12, 2007 8:20 PM
Actually, "To OD", I've been to prison. It sucks an unbelievable amount. But I also didn't get my own special room. And I didn't cry for my parents (and I was her age at the time). You do the crime, you do the time.
