I'm still stuck on the whole Captain Pike thing...

Lauryn, baby, use your head.

Great, use of "Zion" lyrics anonymous poster. Couldn't agree more

Britney reminds me of girls I knew...when I was sixteen. It's really frightening that she's in her mid twenties and has two children. Shudder.
I think the piece about Tom and Katie being turned away from a club because it was "full" is hilarious. I have nothing against the pair - he's a bit creepy, but she has killer style - but I'm always amused when celebrities are treated like the rest of us.
Happy Hump Day everyone :)

TY, St. Louis. :)

Um - have I missed something? Liz is posting, but we don't have an afternoon feature.
Can anyone clear that up? Did she mention something in the book club that I missed?
Posted by: Chasmosaur | August 8, 2007 9:52 AM
Yeah...Liz, que pasa?
Posted by: atwork | August 8, 2007 10:05 AM
"Pete Doherty told to stay drug-free or go to jail." He'll be heading off to the clink soon.
Lauren, separately the pieces may work but sweetie not all together, not all together at all and ease up on the face paint and maybe run an afro pick thru the wig and....nevermind.
What if Britney is doing stuff just to get her name in the paper everyday knowing that there will be a point where you just don't want to hear about her anymore?

When you think that Larry King can interview Dick Cheney and Mel B in the same week, there can be only one question:
Is there another journalist working today who has the range of Larry King?

Liz mentioned that she is vacationing in NC (I think) and will only be doing morning posts this week
Posted by: Anonymous | August 8, 2007 10:18 AM
Gene said (in yesterday's chat) that Liz is on vacation in NC.
Posted by: Anonymous | August 8, 2007 10:18 AM
Uh, when all you do is write inane stories about inane celebs, why do you need a vacation? Sheesh! How lazy is this darn blogger?

Ah, HeadingtoNC..., you are as jealous of Liz's gig as I am.

And why were Tom and Kate wearing sunglasses at night (great, now I have that song in my head)?? It's obvious who they are, the shades don't work.
Posted by: WDC | August 8, 2007 11:13 AM
OK, I finally get it. Charlie Sheen isn't just being asked to swab his gums for a "DNA sample." Is the "s word" obscene or something?
And is Rumer Willis now a porn star, or is Terry Gilliam making another movie?
Posted by: POS | August 8, 2007 11:18 AM
Charlie Sheen's alleged response to Denise Richards' alleged request for a DNA sample:
"Anything for you, baby. Come on over here and kneel down in front of me."

Britney reminds most of us of girls we knew in college. Every campus, no matter how big or small, has its share of irresponsible girls who only want to party and hook up. These girls develop really bad reputations seemingly overnight, some of them get preggers, many of them drop out, and a few manage to marry guys who are too stupid themselves to know any better.
The difference is, Britney is well beyond college age (emotionally, however, she will probably always be 19 yrs. old), she is the mother of two infant children, and she has more than enough money to hire the services of top professionals who can help her to get her life together and her career back on track, if she really was serious about doing so.
Instead, she insists on behaving for the cameras like a trust fund crackhead. Stick a fork in her - Britney is finished.

Okay, totally off topic:
Does anyone watch Age of Love? Watching paint dry would be more exciting than listening to that tennis guy, Mark, talk in that pathetic monotone. The producers have to set up over the top dates to make the show interesting, and even still Mark slumps in and manages to dumb down the scene. He's mind-numbingly boring and completely incapable of holding a conversation. Why do these girls want him?
And what about that other lame has-been on Rock of Love? I don't even know who he was when he wasn't a has-been. How lame is he to be that old and still trying to be a rocker? I'd rather watch Flava Flav and his skanks. At least he's funny to laugh at. Those two guys, I don't care how much money they have/had, are no first place prize to me.

If there is a God he/she will ensure that Eddie Van Halen will stay well & sane & not boot DLR or break up again before that tour hits the DC area.

sunglasses at night: i think i read a quote from posh..'scuse me, mrs. beckham..once where she was told early in her career to wear oversized sunglasses at all times so she wouldn't make eye contact w/fans who would consider that a sign that she was a mere mortal. i'm not kidding. (okay, maybe about the mere mortal stuff, but not the eye contact stuff. apparently stalkers think if you make eye contact, you are their friend for life.
and WDC, thanks for the bad song plant. i'll get you if it's the last thing i do. (shakes fist angrily)

-Unless Samantha Morton pregnant by K-Fed, her pregnancy is not news.
- Pete Doherty will be in jail within two weeks.
-I was hoping Roseanne Barr would say "I did it. So what, It's my blog and I'll write any @#$ I want."

Britney is just so ... gross. I am reminded every time I read something about this trainwreck of the posting a few weeks ago on this board ... someone said she reminds them of the girl in high school who gives all the guys gonorrhea and doesn't smell so good 'cause she doesn't wash. SO right on!
It's sad how desperate she has become ... stripping for anyone who is dumb enough to look.
OK, now for some real snarkiness ... WHAT is up with Tom Cruise always wearing waistcoats? And why is he always about 2 feet in front of her, looking like he is dragging her along by the hand?
Posted by: Californian | August 8, 2007 12:48 PM
Tanget,
I feel you on the "Age of Love". I can't even stand to have it as background noise. I haven't seen "Rock of Love" and from what I've read, I'll continue to avoid it.
I'm just jumping on bandwagons today. I too have that sunglasses song in my head after reading that WDC's post. Only I don't know the whole song so part of it starts to play, stops and starts all over again. (fist shake and an irritated look)
Posted by: petal | August 8, 2007 1:03 PM
Wow - Liz - be on vacation, lady! You're so nice to post while you're away from the office...
Posted by: Chasmosaur | August 8, 2007 1:44 PM
Californian - I always figured that Tom Cruise being in front of Katie in photos is a perspective thing. Makes him look taller.
As far as the waistcoats - I got nothin'.
Posted by: jlr | August 8, 2007 1:44 PM
With Van Halen, what happened w/ Michael Anthony? Was there a falling out I missed? Not that I'm upset, I always thought he was the weakest link in the band.
I saw Van Halen during the Sammy years and MA's extended bass solo hurt my ears it was so bad.
Posted by: jlr | August 8, 2007 1:48 PM
Vacation? Puh-leeeez. Liz could do this job drunk, standing on her head, naked.
Posted by: Anonymous | August 8, 2007 1:49 PM
Is it just me, or does the account of the college student's "wild night with Britney"... uhhhh... just... not... sound... that... wild.
I mean, really: I was expecting something a little bit more "wild" than skinny dipping in a hotel pool.
I'd guess that the "wild" thing that happened next was: they broke into the mini bar in the room, drank all the cordials, and then made a midnight run to a package store to buy cheap replacements so the maid couldn't tell. Woo. Hoo.
The whole thing is past pathetic. It is now hyperpathetic.

Back off Bret Michaels - I have had a strange crush on him since I was 12 and I find him to be a nice guy on the show - unlike Flavor Flav, who, everytime someone kissed him, I wanted to vomit - how and why anyone would find him attractive is BEYOND me!
Posted by: To Tanget | August 8, 2007 1:55 PM
Bret, so that's his name? Well he is a nice guy, but he's kind of pathetic.
Posted by: I Meant Tangent... | August 8, 2007 1:59 PM
He's the lead singer of Poison - one of the greatest hair bands EVER! I wasn't allowed to go see them on the "Open Up and Say Ahhh!" tour when I was 12, so I think I am still carrying a bit of a torch - like the one I carry for Donnie Wahlberg and Markie Mark.
Posted by: To Tangent | August 8, 2007 2:24 PM
to Margo- brit's skinny dip maybe pathetic and not really "wild" ~but~ SHE IS THE MOM OF TWO LITTLE ONES. at least she had the sense to have someone watch them while she went out partying but still, if that was you or me, those kids would be placed with foster parents, no questions asked.
Posted by: Christy | August 8, 2007 2:43 PM
Yes... and that's why the "wild college girl" comparison doesn't fly with me... she seems less like that than just a trashy single live-at-home mom who broke up with the dad and now wishes she didn't have the kids around her neck.
(I've tried SUBMITTING this three times now- no luck. Hope it doesn't hiccup.)
Posted by: Margo | August 8, 2007 3:07 PM
All I can say is, after Brit was in that pool, they probably had to drain it, bleach the tiles and call in the exterminator.
And I think Tom Cruise wears those waistcoat things to hide his corset/girdle that hides his belly and man boobs.
Posted by: POS | August 8, 2007 3:31 PM
It really is creepy the way Katie Holmes always walks several steps behind Cruise, like she's a child.
Posted by: Eric | August 8, 2007 4:01 PM
Brit is SO SO HOT. why didn't anything like that happen to ME in college?!
Posted by: OD | August 8, 2007 5:28 PM
wait, who's samantha morton and why is she getting press in the post for her pregnancy?
Posted by: Anonymous | August 8, 2007 9:16 PM
isn't it party hardy? i mean it sort of makes more sense.
Posted by: g | August 8, 2007 10:28 PM
Brit isn't allowed to be anything. I have 5 kids and they are all on academic scholarships and good moral people..I guess it could look as if I was a good mom..whatever..I went to Vegas and partied with my husband when not nursing and I would be very capable of hitting a car while parking if people were watching and I really really wanted to do it right. Wow I adore my hubby ..20 plus years..but our early fights...did I hit a car with an umbrella? lol could have if it were handy. I didn't have people documenting my every stupid thing..I am sure it would have been worse. The taking the clothes off is what she had been valued for when she was popular.. ironic the same peple who drooled disgustingly at a 16 year old acting sexy in a school uniform now are offened by her parenting..where were all the adults when she was being parented? Society proiduces these lost youths..we should at least be kind to them when their shocking behavior is not as cute as it use to be. Paris had a sex video like 10 yrs ago..lol.NOW there is a problem?
Give her break. From experience I was thinking I was so brilliant and beautiful and smart and together use to think that .."it could never be me" ..funny how life shows you that "But by the grace of God there go I"
