Argh - I just read that as Ioan Gruffud marries Peter Fonda, which just put some *wrong* images in my head.

Dina is flipping out over that? I laughed. It's not like she's bubbling with innocence here.

How BORING were the Emmy's last night?
I can't decide which was the worst part for me: Ryan Seacrest's general lame, not-funniness, the doo-wop music set over a montage of punching and murder, or John Locke's shirt.

There's no way Dina Lohan will let Lindsay quit Hollywood before Dina can exploit her two other kids. Lindsay is the "cash cow" of the family and Dina's link to the media.
-John Locke should apologize for that shirt. He's is too old for that nonsense.
-I glad Piven won for Entourage and American Ferrera for Ugly Betty. Betty rocks!

Ryan Seacrest was an awful host. I think he will get bad reviews. I only watched a little while after he correctly guessed that Eva Longoria's shoes were Louis Vitton because of the red sole. I'm sorry, why doesn't he just come out of the closet already??? Not that it matters, he'd still be an awful host, but at least the gigantic elephant in the room would disappear.

Oh my, a mildly talented actress quitting hollywood? Where's the loss?
Posted by: Anonymous | September 17, 2007 9:13 AM
Why is OJ being held without bail? Can you say flight risk? He's already mocking the system, with snide little comments about "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas." They aren't letting him go anywhere.
Posted by: AG | September 17, 2007 9:13 AM
OJ is being held on several felony counts including ARMED ROBBERY. Not only the the a**hole taped the whole thing which incriminated him.

I was under the impression Kanye's performance was pre-taped. His first performance was very early, around 9:30pm EST which would've been 7:30pm MDT. It wouldn't have been pitch black outside which was the impression I got during his performance. Maybe I'm wrong though...

"Oh my, a mildly talented actress quitting hollywood? Where's the loss?"
I'm not a huge fan, but she is actually a very talented actress, despite her partying ways.

errrr, per my previous post, apparently Vegas is in the pacific time zone, so it would be even earlier? Now I'm just confused. I swear I know geography. WE NEED MORE MAPS.

- I don't think Ryan was so bad; he is no Conan O'Brien and Ellen, but I could tolerate him better than Sarah Silverman.
-Helen Mirren was the best period! She's the only one who knew how to work "theater in the round".
-Not be snarky, but the Desperate Housewives need to visit Nip/Tuck.

The Emmy's were on last night? In all seriousness, I was flipping between the ever-boring Emmy's and the slightly more exciting (once Derek Jeter hit that 3-run homerun) Yankees-Red Sox game.
Apparently, even though I watch a huge amount of TV, I don't watch "mainstream" as I don't watch a single show that got an award!

I was looking at the cover art of Britney's single and thought I saw a wig on the table next to her. Which would be kind of impressive if she did it. But no - I think it's actually a bunch of roses. Oh well.

Liz, why don't you have the audio tape of the OJ robbery posted?
Posted by: Anonymous | September 17, 2007 10:10 AM
Actually, legally, they are supposed to consider prior acts when setting bail.
Posted by: OD | September 17, 2007 10:16 AM
"Actually, legally, they are supposed to consider prior acts when setting bail."
Correction: Legally, they are supposed to consider prior convictions (not "acts" or acquittals) when setting bail.
They are unfaily considering his former charges, for which 12 jury members already decided he was not guilty, no matter how many people assume otherwise.

It also could be that the magistrate didn't give him bail when he was brought in, and the judge declined to set it at arraigment. Since this all happened so recently, it's possible that his lawyer hasn't had a chance to make a formal motion yet. Also certain crimes and situations have a presumption against bail, and since I only know Virginia law, and not Nevada, I can't say if maybe there's a presumption against bsed on OJ's allegations and record, but it's definitely possible.

I heard that O.J. Simpson's next book will feature a cover photo of him wearing a knitted ski mask, black leather gloves and brandishing a large handgun. It's to be titled, "Gimme the Goods, Mutha@*er!"

I agree about Helen Mirren...And while I agree with what Sally Field said, geez. There's a time and a place.
Posted by: b | September 17, 2007 10:54 AM
helen mirren is so classy.
sally field still doesn't know how to graciously say 'thank you' and sit down. i read it wasn't her comments about the war that got her bleeped, it was cursing, which i personally have no problem with. if the awards show was on cable, curse away, but it's not..so show some restraint. also sally, i'll thank you not to speak on behalf of all motherhood.
re: the first post on this site...i'm uncomfortable with the name you used. that word is never appropriate, even when used to describe OJ. if it's wrong, it's always wrong.
Posted by: methinks | September 17, 2007 11:01 AM
sorry methinks...i was channeling red-neck.
Posted by: Anonymous | September 17, 2007 11:21 AM
if it wasn't the ant-war comment that got Sally Field bleeped, why did they bleep the entire comment and not just the explative? Also why did they move the camera off of her?

EMMYS: DID SEACREST COME "OUT"?
So, when he came out in the Henry VIII outfit, did anyone else notice when he said "Could this look any gayer?" and then, in the same breath "Can I keep this?" Did he out himself?
Posted by: akmitc | September 17, 2007 11:33 AM
"Helen Mirren was the best period"
Agreed that I have me some serious Helen-love, but that comment just reads so, so wrong.

I missed that, but when he was guessing the stars' designers in his opening monologue, I think he pretty much let the gay cat out of the bag.
Posted by: Anonimis | September 17, 2007 11:38 AM
Seacrest should just come out, it may actually make him interesting

"if it wasn't the ant-war comment that got Sally Field bleeped, why did they bleep the entire comment and not just the explative? Also why did they move the camera off of her?"
not that the above comment was addressed to me but i dunno, and i dun care b/c she crossed the line w/the expletive. i'm pretty sure i read about the whole 'bleepin' thing in tom shales column found elsewhere on this here website.
re: 11:21, just don't let me catch you sayin' (or semi-sayin' it) again or i'll have to smack your hand and wash your mouth out with soap.
Posted by: methinks | September 17, 2007 12:28 PM
Hey Brit. Did you catch Xtina's performance last night at the Emmys? You could pick up some valuable pointers there. Just saying......
Posted by: arl | September 17, 2007 12:50 PM
methinks, I would completely understand if they just bleeped the expletive, and this wouldn't even be an issue if they had, after the whole "wardrobe malfuntion" incident every network is a little skittish about live programs, but the whole comment was bleeped. Along with Kathy Griffin's anti-jesus comment, it seems more than "bad words" are being censored.
Posted by: Anonymous | September 17, 2007 1:05 PM
i'm not blaming the network. those fines are expensive and who knows how long ms. field would have rambled?
you wouldn't believe how perfectly i stop at all the 'stop' signs in my neighborhoods after receiving a $60 ticket for allegedly 'running' through a stop sign.
Posted by: methinks | September 17, 2007 1:22 PM
Liz,
It is 2:30. Why is the first comment still up there? The "method of signing" should be included under offensive language.
Thanks.

Why, besides his past history (which, legally, should not be factored in to this case), is OJ being held without bail? What kind of robbery suspect gets held without bail? If he did do this, he is pretty stupid because he should have known that they were just waiting for an excuse to arrest him again. And now they can punish him for charges he was already cleared of, and I'm pretty sure they will. Too bad for OJ, Johnny C is dead.
