At this point, I'd really like to hear only good news about Britney (she's off drugs, she's in rehab, she's gotten rid of the ratty weave, she's working out, her albums gone platinum, etc.) or I'd like to hear nothing at all.

Watching her every sad move is starting to wear on me. I'm not even clicking on anymore links. What if this girl kills herself? What then? She is a running punchline, a cliche or sorts, but still an actual woman, an actual mother.

I'm no sap, not even a fan. I'm all for having a little fun. I laughed about her craziness for a few months.

But at this point, I have to wonder how awful all the paps and reporters and comedians who are making careers off her troubles will feel if she overdoses or takes her own life. Yeah, it will be her fault, but they'd have to feel some responsiblity, no? I thought it was funny at first, even Sarah Silverman's little jokes, but at a certain point, isn't it just cruel?

She's lost her children. That is serious.

I can't see anymore humor here.

I hope that Lindsay/Bono's son thing is not true. I think that last thing two addicts fresh out of rehab need to do is move in together and probably become co-dependent users. How likely is it that this rehab romance won't lead them both back down the same path they were trying to avoid?

Posted by: Anonimis | October 5, 2007 8:38 AM

But on the bright side, Anonimis, at least David Spade's horrible show has been cancelled.

Posted by: ASinMoCO | October 5, 2007 8:42 AM

duh on the Bret/Jes thing. this is flavor flavs fourth season finding "faux-mance," new york's second season. why shouldn't bret also have an endless search for "love" or, more acurately, attention.

Posted by: Anonymous | October 5, 2007 8:43 AM

yes, SinMoCo, we can all rest easier knowing David Spade is not trying to be funny.

Posted by: Anonimis | October 5, 2007 8:44 AM

"Rosie also confided that she and the veteran newswoman were actually so close early on in her tenure as moderator that Walters recommended Rosie use Astroglide, which, she added, took her by surprise."

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
ick ugh yuck

"Rosie also confided that she and the veteran newswoman were actually so close early on in her tenure as moderator that Walters recommended Rosie use Astroglide..."

*shudder*

Posted by: byoolin | October 5, 2007 8:48 AM

On the plus side, compared to that Astroglide comment, seeing something about David Spade doesn't seem nearly as repulsive.

Posted by: byoolin | October 5, 2007 8:53 AM

First off, I call BS on Rosie's Astroglide claim. I just Don't. Buy. It. Second, it sounds to me like she's pulling a Dan Rather now, with the "Oh, I actually got fired, I didn't really quit" line.

Posted by: 23112 | October 5, 2007 8:58 AM

I think Brit Brit should take Sinead O'Conner up on her offer to move to Ireland. I'll help her pack.

P.S. what the hell is Astroglide?

Posted by: jake e. poo | October 5, 2007 9:00 AM

jake, try Wikipedia.

Posted by: byoolin | October 5, 2007 9:02 AM

lol...Wait jake...don't google Astroglide if you're at work! Who knows what will pop up.

Posted by: Anonimis | October 5, 2007 9:08 AM

What is happening to Brit is really awful, and it is scary to think of what she may do to herself. Yet even after looking at those pictures of her in the car, I am just really worried about that little dog. Horrible, I know.

Posted by: Omaha | October 5, 2007 9:12 AM

Yeah, that is horrible, Omaha. Seeing a human being in that much pain and you're only worried about the dog.

Posted by: Anonymous | October 5, 2007 9:20 AM

RE: the video from yesterday's entry...I will admit that I watch very little television and didn't know who either Johnny Fairplay or Bonaduce were, embarrassing, but there it is. So I wikkipedia'd them. And the entries for both individuals have sections at the bottom detailing the "Oct 2 incident." I think it's pretty obvious that intimate parties from both camps had a hand in shaping those entries judging from the claim that Fairplay just "lightly thrust his pelvis" and the detailed description of how Bonaduce tossed him over his head, and then the laundry list of injuries Fairplay suffered ("8 shattered teeth"). The entries aren't really Celebritology material, but they are pretty funny none-the-less.

Posted by: Omaha | October 5, 2007 9:21 AM

Ok, I misspoke - I am not ONLY worried about the dog, but I do see it as potential collateral damage if Brit does something to herself. Which I find sad. People getting hurt=sad. Hapless pets getting hurt= also said.

Posted by: Omaha | October 5, 2007 9:28 AM

She deserved to get fired. For that matter the whole bunch of cackling hens should get fired.

Posted by: Sophie McGlumphy | October 5, 2007 9:31 AM

1. Thank goodness, the suits have finally realized what I have known all along -- David Spade has no talent.

2. Rosie just put that book out there to further the image of "Poor Rosie, the victim." That failed, so she cancelled all publicity. But, she is still trying because just like the Blonde One who lost her kids, she craves attention.

3. As far as the blonde one goes, yeah, umm, not going to court for the hearing, is not a good way to convince a judge you want your kids back. You missed a drug test because you slept in? Get thee to Walmart and buy a freaking alarm clock. And underwear.

Posted by: ep | October 5, 2007 9:33 AM

Since it became clear that Brit didn't have a CA license, I'm wondering if Linds ever did? (Or does?)

And what's with the crazy "knicknames" of the Bono kids? His daughter (with Cher) is Chaz and his son (with Mary) is Chez? Ugh.

Posted by: DLC1973 | October 5, 2007 9:34 AM

whoa. that taylor hicks story is seriously depressing. i am not even a fan, but damn. that's gotta hurt.

Posted by: sarita | October 5, 2007 9:39 AM

Rosie just SHUT UP,SHUT UP,SHUT UP,SHUT UP!!!Nobody cares nor have we ever cared for the love of all that is right in the world just go away! I couldn't take it anymore. How long is she planning on milking this thing? Give me a date so I have something to look forward to.

David Spade had another show? When did that happen and how? No offense but IMO the man is not funny.

I want to believe that Orlando and Jennifer are just friends, but really how many times in Hollywood has that been true?

Posted by: petal | October 5, 2007 9:41 AM

yeah sarita, I guess the millions of people who voted him the winner over Catherine McPhee are all too poor to buy his records. i guess the army of aging couch potatos who picked up their phones and punched in taylor's numbers were too lazy to get up off their a$$es and buy his record. Go figure.

Posted by: Anonimis | October 5, 2007 9:46 AM

Man, I loved Rock of Love, but the finally was SO boring. I guess there's no reunion special? I hope they make another Charm School...

Rock of Love II should feature Tommy Lee. What a ratings driving train wreck. Pam can come on and interview all the ladies to see who is fit for Tommy Lee.

Posted by: not bluto | October 5, 2007 10:17 AM

Maybe Rosie is now saying she was fired because she wants to try and claim unemployment benefits. Lol

Posted by: MisterBear | October 5, 2007 10:23 AM

Sorry, I've been off reading Robinson's column, I looked it up and what I found interesting was that Astroglide was invited by someone working on a space shuttle. I don't know how this got past me, I actually attended 2, count them 2 home parties in 2 days that sold sex toys and various accessories. I was probably too distracted by some of the other products (not to be mentioned of course).

Also, I wholeheartedly agree about David Spade, I never thought he was funny, even going back to SNL.

Posted by: jake e. poo | October 5, 2007 10:27 AM

I agree with Anonimis, I cringe now when I hear anything about Britney. I was never a big fan, but I feel bad that people feel it necessary to follow her every movement -- people like me, who read Celebritology, but it must be a bit overwhelming to have everyone scrutinizing your mothering skills, your legal problems, etc.

I don't really like Rosie, but I watched her "final" argument with Hasselbeck on You Tube and did actually think that, for once, she had a point and was not just being obnoxious. Still, it does seem like she has a martyr complex. Perhaps people might not always assume that she's the instigator of every problem if she didn't present herself as the loud, obnoxious woman who always says what's on her mind.

Posted by: anon | October 5, 2007 10:28 AM

I agree anon about Britney, I do read about her in Celebritology (my only gossip source), but if Liz never wrote about her again, I probably wouldn't even notice.

Posted by: anon 2 | October 5, 2007 10:33 AM

I feel sorry for Brit's kids, but I have less sympathy for Brit. Get yourself together. Stop calling the paparazzi when you leave your house and they won't follow you. Stop trying to revive your "career." Go to rehab and stay there and do the work required to get better. Follow the judge's orders. Be glad that your mooching husband was at least a halfway decent enough person to take your kids and raise them while you get through this rough patch. Live in the REAL world and let go of the fake one created in your head.

And Rosie should just go wallow in the Oreo cookies.

Posted by: Give me a break! | October 5, 2007 10:36 AM

"Arthur's lawyer John O'Quinn said Arthur was preparing to sue for custody of Dannielynn, Smith's baby by Larry Birkhead, who has custody"

This was further down in the Rosie write up. Why does this women think she should have custody of someone else's child?

Oh, and I will never, ever be able to get the astroglide thing out of my head.

Posted by: Irish girl | October 5, 2007 10:37 AM

You know something interesting and completely off-topic? The explosion of comments and blogs gives a fascinating windows into the problems we have with English. I mean, forget their/there/they're and it's/its...in one of the comments someone said "finally" for "finale," and I see things like that all the time. I remember once realizing I'd written "herons" for "errands" in an e-mail. (As in, I'm going to run some herons on the way home.)

Ok, this has nothing to do with Celebritology (although, for the record, I now feel sorry for Britney), but isn't it interesting?

Posted by: h3 | October 5, 2007 10:53 AM

Agreed with the comments about Brit just being sad. I was never a fan, couldn't help but watch the train wreck unfold and now, I just wish she would get a grip, get some help and get better so that the whole world can stop worrying about her kids and her pets, not to mention herself. And, yeah, I really, really do think that she is at risk for hurting or killing herself and maybe others too.

On an actually funny note, I do hope Lilo and the Bono kid hook up so that we can refer to them as LiloNo....Sorry, couldn't help myself.

Posted by: sunnydaze | October 5, 2007 10:56 AM

There is a Rock of Love reunion special airing Sunday night. A little anticlimactic with this Jes news, though. But we'll get to see if Heather still has the tattoo!

Posted by: Bret | October 5, 2007 11:01 AM

regarding the credibility of rosie's claim that babwa wawa suggested astroglide to her, this is the woman who recently said on two separate occasions that she wanted to "do" a guest's husband. i mean, it doesn't sound like babwa, but neither did the other comments -- just sayin'

Posted by: b | October 5, 2007 11:02 AM

h3...i dont beleive we have a problem w/english. just a problem with laziness. Its finale simpley about peoeple getting accross they're messagges to the public and less about people spelling every thing absolutiley write. i mean, comeon, dont be so up-tite. its just a blog, not a acadamic esay. heck, at least i can spell anonimis rite.

Posted by: Anonimis | October 5, 2007 11:04 AM

I agree with Petal about Rosie and David Spade but I must disagree about Jennifer and Orlando.

If I could spend the weekend in Mexico at a fabulous resort with Orlando Bloom, we will be alot more than "friends" by the end of the weekend.

Posted by: Lisa1 | October 5, 2007 11:04 AM

h3 I agree! And I've never been a fan of u, r, or i -- spell it out and use the shift key. I realize it's "IM/Net talk" but it's annoying (even more so since I've always been a grammar nut). What is it teaching "our" kids?

Posted by: WDC 21113 | October 5, 2007 11:06 AM

I care more about the dog than the Brit-Twit too. So there.

The blonde seen w/Hicks is a newscaster on Channel 12 in Milwaukee. Caroline Lyders I believe.

I wish O'Donnell would disappear. Ick.

Posted by: WI | October 5, 2007 11:06 AM

Or if they moved intogether, would their home be Chez LiLo?

Posted by: b | October 5, 2007 11:08 AM

To the comment about the Dannilynn custody issue, grandparents sue for custody of their grandchildren all the time, especially when one parent has died and the other parent didn't have custody of the child.

Posted by: MGC | October 5, 2007 11:12 AM

i think to care more about a dog's well-being than a person's makes you stupid, or a member of PETA. Oh wait...that's redundant.

Posted by: Anonymous | October 5, 2007 11:14 AM

Good one, Anonimis

Posted by: Anonymous | October 5, 2007 11:15 AM

On an actually funny note, I do hope Lilo and the Bono kid hook up so that we can refer to them as LiloNo....Sorry, couldn't help myself.

how about BoLo? haha. the variations are making me laugh.

Posted by: bm | October 5, 2007 11:18 AM

Britney and Lindsay are cautionary tales for parents who have dreams of stardom for their children. This is what happens when chasing "fame" because a more important than the emotional well being of your teenager.

Posted by: Anonymous | October 5, 2007 11:21 AM

I saw Kathy Griffin at DAR Constitution Hall in September, and she mentioned in her act that Babs says she prefers Astroglide over KY. I think there might be some truth to this one.

Posted by: frog7694 | October 5, 2007 11:27 AM

Ha - just noticed I made a dumb typo in my post about language. That's what I get for revising on the fly. (And, Anonimis, I think you spell Anonimis just beautifully.)

Posted by: h3 | October 5, 2007 11:34 AM

Please stop mentioning Barbara Walters and personal lubricant in the same sentence. Just the thought of a woman in her seventies still getting her groove on is soooooooooooooo unnerving. Not saying it shouldn't happen, but what gramma does behind closed doors, I don't wanna know about it.

Posted by: Anonymous | October 5, 2007 11:37 AM

What's so great about people? Based on personal experience, I like a much higher percentage of dogs.

Posted by: I'm with stupid | October 5, 2007 1:08 PM

I see Britney forgot to wear pants again.

Living with a manic depressive is probably the worst thing she could do, but I agree with Sinead O. that she should leave the U.S. and go live somewhere where she can get it together.

That poor, poor little dog. If her kids have been taken from her, why hasn't the dog?

I'm disgusted by those comments here about animals not being as important as humans. People who do not care about animals/regard them as less important/etc. are a complete mystery to me and I think have something missing in their genetic makeup (or are just heartless and cruel). Animals most definitely have feelings and emotions, feel pain and anxiety and stress, etc. and are totally unselfish and unconditional. AND animals do not do the colossally stupid things humans do. I happen to agree with Gandhi: the measure of a society is how it treats its animals and old people.

I think some people on this blog need PETA's compassion training or whatever it was Psycho Michael Vick had to go through.

Posted by: Proud animal lover | October 5, 2007 1:11 PM

I like animals way more than people. Animals are wonderful and I agree -- they don't do the idiotic things humans do.

"Britney and Lindsay are cautionary tales for parents who have dreams of stardom for their children." True, but then you have Drew Barrymore, who was a train wreck and then got it together -- and now she's fantastic.

Posted by: Californian | October 5, 2007 1:14 PM

animals are great. they probably should take that probably neglected dog from her. but, honestly, when i looked at the picture, i thought, cute dog...poor pathetic britney.

when a human being is on a one way road that probably ends with a painful, public death, do you think it's more tragic that there is a dog in the front seat or that this woman is actually going to die prematurely? if you pick the former over the latter, then you are even more heartless and cold than you accuse others of being.

i'll never understand how some people can muster up so much love and compassion for animals that their fellow human beings become second, at best.

Posted by: Anonymous | October 5, 2007 1:42 PM

Maybe because humans are a distant second. At best.

Posted by: Anonymous | October 5, 2007 1:44 PM

i wonder if you'd feel that way if you were attacked by a dog and a doctor was more concerned with the animal's broken teeth than your injury.

or if you were stung by wasps and the doctor tried to revive the dying insects before attending to your allergic reaction.

Posted by: idiot | October 5, 2007 2:13 PM

That's fine about the grandparents and all, but if a grandparent tried to take my kid off me, they might find their self in a world of hurt. Parents should have the right to let their children see who they want, not the courts. If someone is a good parent, then the grandparent has no right to sue for custody or even visitation as far as I am concerned. In Arthur's case, she raised Anna, so what does that say about her.

As for animals, I love them, but if it was between the dog and a kid, I would save the kid. Anyone who wouldn't has a major issue. If it was between the dog and Michael Vick, I would save the dog.

Posted by: Irish girl | October 5, 2007 2:19 PM

I'd consider selling a surplus kidney to see Cesar Millan teach pack leader Babwa Wawa how to properly control Rosie O. Perhaps take her for a walk down the block on a leash. Give her a flea bath. Reward her with a snack if she behaves. Express her glands. You know, dog stuff.

Posted by: Anonymous | October 5, 2007 2:28 PM

For those of you who can not understand how someone can love their animals more than people, that's easy. They are non-judgmental, they give unconditional love, they don't complain if you gain 100lbs they still love you, but most importantly they don't make snarky comments about you in. I can see why Brit is hanging on to that dog for dear life, it is probably that last thing on earth that isn't judging her.

Posted by: Anonymous | October 5, 2007 2:44 PM

"As for animals, I love them, but if it was between the dog and a kid, I would save the kid. Anyone who wouldn't has a major issue. If it was between the dog and Michael Vick, I would save the dog."

I was going to say i agree, but I thought about it....

if like if a huge semi jack-knifed on the road and Michael Vick and a dog where standing in the middle of the road, both of them paralyzed, for whatever reason, you would save the dog and let Michael Vick die, because of his dog-fighting charges? Hmmm... Wow.

I think if I saved either of them (don't know i'd really risk my own life for MV OR a dog) I think it would be the man, flawed though he may be.

Posted by: Anonymous | October 5, 2007 3:17 PM

My comment was tongue n cheek, but it would make me pause to think about it.

Posted by: Irish girl | October 5, 2007 3:27 PM

If you gain 100 lbs you need to be told to lose some weight. Just like if you are a crack head like Britney, you need people to do an intervention that might save your life. It might be nice to live in complete denial with your dog who loves you unconditionally, but it's also dangerous and kind of pathetic.

When the only thing in the world that loves you, loves you only because its brain is too undeveloped to know better or because it is wholly dependent on you for its food and shelter and you are therefore it's lord and master, you have a problem.

no wonder these people perfer animals to people. the animals don't know what losers these people are.

Posted by: Anonymous | October 5, 2007 3:29 PM

i bet they would complain if you gained 100 lbs and then sat on them. there'd be lots of complaining then.

Posted by: Anonymous | October 5, 2007 3:31 PM

Thanks 3:29 pm, you just proved my point.

Posted by: Anonymous | October 5, 2007 3:49 PM

In summation, those who prefer animals to people are stupid, cold, heartless losers.

Very persuasive argument indeed, but I'll stick with the beasts with the "undeveloped" brains.

Posted by: I'm with stupid | October 5, 2007 5:16 PM

I think that my dog is a better human than most humans I know. She certainly has more integrity and is far more consistent in exercising her values. She has a better personality and is much more fun to hang out than a lot of my girlfriends.

I can certainly understand why some people are more concerned over the dog than Britney. The dog didn't choose to be put in this situation. Britney did. She is a grown woman. She needs to get over herself. Life is hard. People fight. And still manage to be happy. Jeez. Someone needs to shake her. And someone needs to take that dog away from her before she loses it in one of the nightclubs or something.
