wow. lots of celeb babies being born. i wasn't paying attention. was there a full moon?

i loved the 'male companion' in the bjork story crying out "b, don't do this! b, don't do this!" i don't know why, it just made me laugh. what has she got against photographers/reporters in airports. isn't this the third time she behaved this way?

"Will Knowles will be joining the 2008 celebrity baby boom?"

"Will Knowles be joining the 2008 celebrity baby boom?"

FTFY :-)

Why does Nicole Richie's baby have so many names?

Why does Nicole Richie's baby have so many names?

Posted by: | January 14, 2008 08:50 AM

And will we use them all to talk about her ala Jayden James, Sean Preston, etc...

Posted by: WDC 21113 | January 14, 2008 8:52 AM

"A pregnant Richie spent an hour in a Los Angeles jail in August after being sentenced to four days for driving the wrong way on a Los Angeles freeway while under the influence of drugs. Prison overcrowding in Los Angeles County means nonviolent offenders often spend only a fraction of their sentences behind bars."

And this was relevant to the birth announcement why? To remind us that she might be an unfit mother?

Posted by: Anonymous | January 14, 2008 8:53 AM

I know Brit's nuts, but the wedding dress thing seems like too much of a stunt, even for her. Maybe she's playing up the whole crazy thing a little? I mean, for someone who spends $20K a month on clothes, there had to be something else in her closet to wear. Then again, she is certifiable.

Posted by: surlychick | January 14, 2008 8:55 AM

Thanks for the catch, Anon. Fixt!

Posted by: Liz | January 14, 2008 8:58 AM

isn't brit's photoboy already married?

Posted by: rachelt | January 14, 2008 9:09 AM

Wow, talk about the mother lode of babies this weekend. Kudos to Christina and Nicole for giving their babies nice, non-horrendous names. Yes, Harlow Winter Kate is a tad unorthodox, but I kind of like it. Hopefully they will just call her Harlow.

As for Britney, "oy vey" is all I can manage at this point. Will someone PLEASE institutionalize that crazy biatch?

Posted by: ASinMoCo | January 14, 2008 9:11 AM

Harlow????? Ugh.

Posted by: DC Cubefarm | January 14, 2008 9:17 AM

Maybe we're seeing the debut of Britney as a performance artist. My guess is that she was making a statement (without opening her mouth), "well, THIS dress isn't worth anything to me anymore - just your regular day-errand frock to go pick up my lost car..."

And, just because she spends $20K a month on clothes does not mean that any of them are worthy of being worn in public... just saying that we have plenty of evidence to support this claim!

Posted by: harerin | January 14, 2008 9:17 AM

"isn't brit's photoboy already married?"

Yep.

" know Brit's nuts, but the wedding dress thing seems like too much of a stunt, even for her. Maybe she's playing up the whole crazy thing a little?"

I agree. Makes me think that whole psychotic break was timed perfectly to shift the spotlight away from her sister's pregnancy and back on to herself.

Posted by: Anonymous | January 14, 2008 9:19 AM

-Congratulations to Nicole, Christina, David Allen and Courtney.

I like the name Harlow Winter Kate.

-Brit is spending 20k a month on clothes for whom? I seriously doubt Jayden James and Sean Preston need a 20k clothing allowance.
With Brit swapping clothes with random people at clubs and convenience stores, who is doing all the shopping?

Posted by: Lisa1 | January 14, 2008 9:36 AM

That Bjork story would have been much better if instead of crying out "b, don't do this! b, don't do this", her companion had said, "a swan can break a man's arm, you know."

Posted by: byoolin | January 14, 2008 9:38 AM

Half of that first paragraph should get together and start a daycare.

Britney and OJ have each graduated from half-baked self-promotion into full-blown multilayered parodies of themselves.

Posted by: byoolin | January 14, 2008 9:43 AM

I think the picture of Jay-Z works well with the caption in that he has the facial expression of "Girl, you'll be joining the what this year?!?"

Posted by: CentrevilleMom | January 14, 2008 10:04 AM

no, this photog is NOT married. That keeps getting repeated but is not true. The other one she was hanging around with, Osama Lufti, is married. This guy is not.

Posted by: Anonymous | January 14, 2008 10:10 AM

Well clearly Bjork is attacking photographers because it's the only way she gets any press these days.

Sometimes I think these crazy celebrity baby names are to protect the children from the general public knowing their real names.

Posted by: jes | January 14, 2008 10:20 AM

Beg to differ, Adnan Ghalib is married...
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22640121/

Posted by: b | January 14, 2008 10:23 AM

I thought the exact same thing: Bjork in swan dress, acting like swan. Remember how she had a purse shaped like an egg?

Posted by: POS | January 14, 2008 10:27 AM

I loved getting a good look at Brit's wedding dress. Wow! That explains everything.

Posted by: POS | January 14, 2008 10:28 AM

I like Harlow. It's a bit different without being weird. Perhaps its a tribute to Jean Harlow -- which would raise Nicole a lot in my eyes. Middle names are irrelevant, the kid can never use it.

Why does stars using steroids matter? It's not like it will help them get a hit record.

Posted by: ep | January 14, 2008 10:35 AM

Congrats to all the celebs in the baby bonaza!

CentrevilleMom,
I was thinking the same thing when I saw the Jay Z Beyonce photo.

Posted by: petal | January 14, 2008 10:36 AM

Who the heck is Courtney Thorne-Smith? Seriously.

Posted by: EricS | January 14, 2008 10:38 AM

*sigh*

The only swag I get at my job is a magnetic clip and a tiny calculator whose face cover won't open.

Posted by: Magnolia | January 14, 2008 10:43 AM

Who the heck is Courtney Thorne-Smith? Seriously.

Posted by: EricS | January 14, 2008 10:38 AM

An actress that stays out of the limelight:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005489/

Loved her on Day by Day and Melrose. Never watched According to Jim, however.

Posted by: WDC 21113 | January 14, 2008 10:44 AM

i think the problem w/the stars using steroids is that the steroids in question are a controlled substance, thus illegal w/out a 'doctor's note'. a real doctor. many of these steroids are purchased through trainers or other nefarious means. hence the federal investigation.

Posted by: methinks | January 14, 2008 10:45 AM

Why does Nicole Richie's baby have so many names?

So many daddies...

Posted by: BDWESQTM | January 14, 2008 10:45 AM

Maybe the wedding gown was the only clean garment left in Brit's closet....

Posted by: BDWESQTM | January 14, 2008 10:48 AM

So, what would you guys pay Katharine McPhee for her wedding photos? I might give her five, ten bucks if she shelled out for a really good photographer.

Posted by: h3 | January 14, 2008 11:23 AM

We seem to be overlooking the fact that Britney's wedding dress still fits! How many of us could still fit into our wedding dresses a few years and a baby or two later? Not I. Perhaps that was her point. "I'm still hot, y'all."

Posted by: WDC | January 14, 2008 11:23 AM

'So, what would you guys pay Katharine McPhee for her wedding photos?'
Posted by: h3 | January 14, 2008 11:23 AM

All I have to say about that is, Katharine McWHO?

Posted by: jes | January 14, 2008 11:34 AM

Posted by: BDWESQTM | January 14, 2008 10:48 AM

Like Britney stops to tell the difference between clean and dirty.

So if artists like Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, Timbaland, Wyclef Jean, and Tyler Perry are supposedly using performance-enhancing drugs, why isn't their music a whole lot better?

Posted by: MisterBear | January 14, 2008 11:45 AM

speaking of ex-idol nobodies...

http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Music/01/14/people.aiken.ap/index.html

Also Tyler Perry isn't musician he writes those movies with a moral, religious message where he plays a very large woman.

Posted by: Anonymous | January 14, 2008 12:04 PM

Harlow Winter Kate is a little cumbersome, but a hell of a lot better than, say, Kingston, Suri, Greer, Apple, Pilot Inspektor, CoCo...

And Max is just an adorable name, though I cannot and will not defend that middle name.

Posted by: GoodToBeGangsta | January 14, 2008 12:06 PM

Am I the only one who thinks that "Harlow" is way too close to "harlot"?

Posted by: lux | January 14, 2008 12:07 PM

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005489/

Ahh, I see. Congrats to them. Lucky guy......

Posted by: EricS | January 14, 2008 12:34 PM

"The only swag I get at my job is a magnetic clip and a tiny calculator whose face cover won't open."

ROFL -- Magnolia gets my vote for quote of the week! :-)

I have always thought Mary J. Blige looked very masculine. Interesting.

Max. I like it ... did Bridget Moynahan start a "name your baby something normal" trend? I sure hope so.

Harlow ... yikes. Maybe she'll go by Kate, I mean she does have a handful o' names to choose from.

Posted by: Californian | January 14, 2008 12:39 PM

Beyonce's supposed baby wasn't planned? What IS it with these celebs who cannot for the life of them figure out birth control? Holy cow.

Posted by: Anonymous | January 14, 2008 12:40 PM

Uh, there's only one 100% reliable form of birth control, and it's super boring.

Posted by: RiverCityRoller | January 14, 2008 12:46 PM

Yes lux, I agree, Harlow is a little too close to "harlot" for me too & I was just coming here to post that but ya beat me to it.

Usually I'm only into the Golden Globes for the fashion dos & don'ts but damn this writer's strike for making me a Johnny Depp red carpet moment & acceptance speech!!

Posted by: Bored @ home | January 14, 2008 1:05 PM

'Uh, there's only one 100% reliable form of birth control, and it's super boring.

Posted by: RiverCityRoller | January 14, 2008 12:46 PM'

Sorry Californian, I think this is the comment of the week!

Posted by: jes | January 14, 2008 1:07 PM

I like Mary J Blige's chances in the Preakness this year, the field is rather weak.

Posted by: MisterBear | January 14, 2008 1:20 PM

gah... what are you thinking Scarlett... look what happened to Val when he did his Doors flick - not good... now, if the script has the whole 'how i killed my husband and got away with it' angle - well - then maybe i can see why it might be interesting.

otherwise - yawn... rather see the Patrick Stewart story played by Hornswoggle

Posted by: Quintilus Varus | January 14, 2008 1:29 PM

"So if artists like Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, Timbaland, Wyclef Jean, and Tyler Perry are supposedly using performance-enhancing drugs, why isn't their music a whole lot better?"

Would've been funnier if you had left Timbaland and Mary out of it, because their music careers are great and Tyler Perry because he doesn't do anything musical. He's a writer/acter/producer/director.

Posted by: Anonymous | January 14, 2008 2:26 PM

actor*

Posted by: Anonymous | January 14, 2008 2:27 PM

oh lay off Bjork. She asked the photographer not to take the pictures and he snapped away anyway. She shouldn't have reacted so strongly, but he should have respected her wishes..

Posted by: iikamo | January 14, 2008 2:57 PM

RiverCityRoller - right you are! I am in the middle of a "super boring" spell of a couple of years, and I am super bored. Not pregnant, though. Sigh.

Posted by: LLL | January 14, 2008 4:23 PM

i will not lay off 'b'. she shouldn't have ripped that dude's t-shirt. that was way uncool.

Posted by: Anonymous | January 14, 2008 5:04 PM

I love that the actors are all, "Solidarity with the writers! Stick it to the MAN!" and then running around all, "Where's my FREE STUFF???"

Posted by: Anonymous | January 14, 2008 10:49 PM

People who are in public places don't get to just tell photographers not to take pictures of them. (Well, here at least - I don't know how the law works in New Zealand.) He wasn't some evil paparazzo, he worked for a New Zealand paper. Bjork was in a public place. You can take pictures of people in public places.
