About the only thing going well for Britney is that she wasn't in "Mad Money."

About the only thing going well for Katie is that she hasn't turned up in any of Tom's videos. (Yet.)

About the only thing going well for Tom is that he didn't appear in Amy's video.

Posted by: byoolin | January 22, 2008 8:57 AM

Welcome back, Liz.

Posted by: lrkr | January 22, 2008 8:58 AM

About the only thing going well for Amy is that she's not featured in the obituary immediately following Suzanne Pleshette's.

Posted by: byoolin | January 22, 2008 8:58 AM

*byoolin's found a good line and is sticking with it.
*welcome back liz kelly.
*i saw this in a people mag story about britney using a british accent. "when the pink wig comes out, you know something crazy is going to happen."
*to john travolta: we'll leave tom cruise alone when he leaves us alone.
*RIP Suzanne Pleshette

Thanks for the welcome(s) back. Mr. Liz and I are now comfortably ensconced in our new digs and fully Internet-capable. Long live fiber optic lines.

Posted by: Liz Kelly | January 22, 2008 9:24 AM

I wonder if Suzanne Pleshette will wake up somewhere and find out it was all a dream. She was so earthy and sexy in a classy way.

And, as I hadn't before seen a pic of Sam Lufti, I have to wonder if Britney's mental illness is manifesting itself in both a British accent and only sleeping with men with utterly ridiculous facial hair. If there's a pic of her with this guy

http://www.findonvillage.com/p2656_mike_solomons_0530.jpg

anytime soon, we'll know for sure.

Posted by: Wikijen | January 22, 2008 9:26 AM

So sad to hear about Suzanne Pleshette.

Congrats to Mr. Big and girlfriend. Interesting name for the tike, I like it.

Wait a tick, the photog cashed in on Brit's pix, well that comes as a huge shock.

Posted by: petal | January 22, 2008 9:32 AM

Nice pic, Wikijen. That guy looks like he was only partially successful in his quest to be fired from a cannon through a sheep.

Posted by: byoolin | January 22, 2008 9:34 AM

Why is it so easy for me to picture John Travolta screaming and crying, "Leave Tom alone!"?

Posted by: surlychick | January 22, 2008 9:39 AM

yay, for two of my favorite actors, daniel day lewis and viggo mortensen! either one can win and i will be happy.

Posted by: methinks | January 22, 2008 9:39 AM

I would prefer if Tom and Katie were in the video with Amy. It would explain a lot.

On the Mischa Barton picture, the photog in the sunglasses is cute. Brit should give him a call.

Congratulations to Mr.Big and Baby Mama Big.

Britney clearly has a mental health issue of some kind, and being followed everywhere she goes doesn't help. (It's like that old saying: "Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean the little men aren't following me.") Please don't say she brings the harassment on herself; she is beyond that point now. Whether or not she (or her mom) set it in motion years back, it has reached ridiculous proportions that she has no way of controlling now, especially considering her mental state.

My point is that publishing news about her every move, her every twitch, keeps the paparazzi employed and keeps this cruelty going. (Yes, I think it's cruel what they do.) So, Liz, I would like you to consider withdrawing your support of the little cottage industry that is the Britney Spears Insanity Watch. Don't publish any more stuff about her. Every little action helps, y'know? Why not try it? I mean, doesn't it depress you to keep after her this way? Kinda? You know what I mean about contributing to the mess; if no one is interested in the pictures, then the paparazzi don't have a reason to (further) drive her insane.

My position is that everyone who is egging them on is, in part, responsible for tearing this woman to shreds. I'm not saying she's a saint, but geez. She's ill. Will you try it, Liz?

Once her real obit is published, it'll be too late.

Posted by: again | January 22, 2008 9:41 AM

this has been reported numerous times, but here is another one. Any sympathy one feels for her is tempered...

I'm waiting for the all-Scientologist remake of "Priscilla, Queen of The Dessert." If we Tommy and Vinnie on board, who would round out the trio?

Posted by: yellojkt | January 22, 2008 9:45 AM

I think Britney craves the attention, or is so nuts, she doesn't know right from wrong. It isn't normal to strip in a store or walk around with no underpants. Most people would be thrown in jail for indecent exposure, so I think if anything, she is getting off easy.
If she can't take care of herself, than something is wrong, but it is up to her family to decide if she needs to be locked up or not.
I wouldn't blame Liz for her "cottage industry". Brit's created it on her own.

Posted by: possum | January 22, 2008 9:48 AM

Dear Mischa, Please stop dressing like you're living in the 80s. You were still in preschool when the 90s rolled around, so I don't exactly understand where you're getting your fashion inspiration from, anyway. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Concerned

Posted by: Ugh | January 22, 2008 9:51 AM

yellojkt:
How about Seinfeld? Maybe he can be the one who gets the cr*p beat out of him.
Brit can be the chick who blows the ping-pong ball out her you-know-what.

Posted by: possum | January 22, 2008 9:51 AM

The fact that Britney calls the photographers just underscores the fact that she **can't take care of herself.** She is making that painfully clear. Does that mean that everybody should laugh and take pictures while she self-destructs??? Is that helpful to a person who's mentally unstable? No way can you convince me that the people who salivate over these pictures/anecdotes aren't contributing to the problem.

Posted by: again | January 22, 2008 9:53 AM

Now all I can think of is applying that song from "Treehouse of Horror" to all the troubled celebrities:

"Just don't look!
Just don't look!"

(Of course, it will sound better coming from Paul Anka.)

Posted by: CentrevilleMom | January 22, 2008 10:26 AM

At least she showed up for a deposition. It gives me some hope that maybe she's listening to someone who is giving her good advice.

Posted by: RiverCityRoller | January 22, 2008 10:29 AM

Norbit is up for an Oscar (make-up). The world is ending - look out for lakes of fire on your drive home.

Posted by: md | January 22, 2008 10:37 AM

No more about tom Cruise. I had a dream over the weekend, he was trying to recruit me to scientology. I guess he ran out of celebrities to stalk.

As for Britney, I have no sympathy for her anymore. She not just call the paps before going out, she invited them into her home. She no longer gets to complain about them bothering her.

RIP Suzanne Pleshette. You missed that the guy who played Sam the Butcher on the Brady Bunch died too.

Posted by: ep | January 22, 2008 10:39 AM

Why is it so easy for me to picture John Travolta screaming and crying, "Leave Tom alone!"?

...in his underwear (tighty whiteys of course)

Speaking of tighty whiteys, has anyone seen Chris Crockers new video where he is dancing around lip syncing to Brit's song, the one she lip synced at that awards show?

Posted by: Anonymous | January 22, 2008 10:50 AM

hey yellojkt -- how about Isaac Hayes for the all-Scientologist remake of "Priscilla"?

a. it's a musical, so you need someone who can sing;
b. ex-Chef's got the Thetan-free creds; and
c. as Michael Clarke Duncan has proven, there are few things funnier than a large african american man in drag.

Think about it.

Posted by: WoW | January 22, 2008 11:19 AM

My first vote for #3 on the Priscilla, Queen of the Desert remake would be Isaiah Washington, but is he a Scientologist?

The only other Scientologist male that comes to mind is Beckham. He might work.

Posted by: e | January 22, 2008 11:22 AM

oh, and forgot to comment on Mischa's pic -- sure, the look does have a Johnny Depp from "Benny & Joon" vibe (which was a 90's, not 80's, flick), but i still think she looks kinda' cute.

yeah, i know, i just lost whatever little credibility i had around here...

Posted by: WoW | January 22, 2008 11:28 AM

Wow, I'm surprised that video of Amy Winehouse smoking crack, if it's real, isn't bigger news. Good thing the AP has that obit ready... Pathetic.

Posted by: sox | January 22, 2008 11:56 AM

to e - I don't think Tom Cruise has been successful in his attempts to recruit Beckham into Scientology.

Posted by: jlr | January 22, 2008 12:16 PM

I think Mischa Barton looks and acts stupid. Why is she even at Sundance? I doubt she was in any of the movies. The hat looks like it came from a flea market. Why do people like her?

Posted by: Marie | January 22, 2008 1:09 PM

Beck would make an interesting addition to the all $cientology version of of Priscilla. As would Giovanni Ribisi who can actually act. Though Beck did a find job of being his future self in Futurama. Beck is a little girlier looking but Ribisi has the acting chops, I dunno, toss a coin!

When I first heard Travolta was playing Edna Turnblad in the new Hairspray I was upset until I realized that they really did cast an overweight drag queen in the part.

As for the Oscar noms, did they find my **winkwinknudgenudge** "list?" That is some major hawtness that's gonna be on the red carpet, if there is one. **hopes&praystothegodsthereisone**

Just thinking about it....**spontaneously combusts**

Re. Amy Winehouse -- has anyone considered maybe she WANTS to self-destruct? She seems pretty suicidal to me. And gee she looks real happy in that wedding photo. Maybe because someone made her take off those filthy ballet slippers and put on a different pair of shoes.

That poor, poor kitten. Where is the British equivalent of PETA/the ASPCA????

Posted by: Californian | January 22, 2008 1:19 PM

Britney's family may not have any authority to do anything about her unless she is declared mentally incompetent and someone is appointed her conservator. The court system in California is 100% on the side of the mentally ill. Brit could well live this way the rest of her life and be free as a (pantyless) bird. Depressing but true.

I just saw CNN reporting that Heath Ledger was found dead in his Manhatten home.

Posted by: Anonymous | January 22, 2008 4:57 PM

Have to say I was shocked to see that too.

Posted by: Anonymous | January 22, 2008 5:13 PM
