What kind of dumb parents would allow their kid to attend a class taught by Brittany?

Posted by: RiverCityRoller | February 12, 2008 8:45 AM

I think the odds are that a lot of Grammy winners of the past were on something. Why should we suddenly hold people to that standard.

Posted by: MGC | February 12, 2008 8:50 AM

Britney teaching dance class to the next generation of strippers and pole dancers. "giving back to the community" indeed.

Posted by: 16828 | February 12, 2008 8:52 AM

Yeah, who started letting drugs into the music business? The nerve! Let's nip this trend in the bud. Mmmmm, sweet bud...,

Uh, where was I?

Posted by: yellojkt | February 12, 2008 8:53 AM

I don't think it would ever make a difference, but I'm glad Natalie Cole said something. The amount of celebrities who actually take a stand about something - and speak from personal experience, no less - are few and far between. Kudos to her!

Posted by: rachelt | February 12, 2008 8:58 AM

Natalie Cole's comments sound like sour grapes, and they probably are, but since I don't care for Amy Winehouse or her "enormous talent" I'm glad she said something.

I love Nic Cage suing Kathleen Turner. A good cat-fight is fun for everyone. The excerpts that I read from her book were hilarious and certainly seemed libelous.

As a journalist who has dealt with people who are late to interviews I can tell you, I would have been mightily p.o.'d at someone being 40 minutes late because they had to buy a toothbrush. What a prima donna.

Who knew Isabella Rossellini was one of those furry freaks?

Posted by: Pompous Magnus | February 12, 2008 9:20 AM

Natalie Cole really doesn't have room to talk considering she was almost a crack ho' when she was on drugs. Amy is at least getting help before things got that bad.

I do NOT want to know what green porn is.

Right, Michael, it was a panic attack. The dude always promises to show then never does. There is a reason everyone and his great aunt is suing him for breach of contract.

i, for one, am glad natilie cole said something about amy's "issues." i'm not saying amy doesn't have talent, but she has got problems and i don't understand how leaving rehab to go save a pub helps with the healing? i thought the point of rehab was you stayed put. can someone please explain this to me. i am so confused by how this works...

What, walking around in a bra and jeans (and I forget -- wasn't she barefoot?) in the middle of the night is not "that bad"?

Posted by: WDC 21113 | February 12, 2008 10:05 AM

Methinks Ms. Cole should refrain from throwing rocks while in her own stylishly appointed glass house. She's probably just mad because she doesn't get royalties every time somebody stages one of those "duets" with a dead singer.

Frankly, I think it might be a positive sign that Britney conducted a dance class for toddlers. With kids this young, I'm certain that their parents/guardians are close by in case anything bizarre or inappropriate might happen.

Britney might just straighten up once she gets her medications and mind set adjusted.

What is "green" about sending a personal assistant out in a car (I doubt he/she walked or used a bicycle) to buy a cruelty-free toothbrush? What the heck is wrong with just going out in the yard and breaking off a stick? Oh, that must be why Woody's toting a machete.

And Liz, thanks to your extra tasty Morning Mix, I now have a vision of Dolly Parton dressed as a fly (w/hooters) doing it doggy style and saying "Ouch!Ouch!". Great.

I believe it's something involving that one alien from the original Star Trek series and The Great Gazoo. (And we find out why the Flintstones called him that.)

I'm a DD and have issues with my back, I am constantly amazed Dolly Parton can even stand up straight.

Posted by: Anonymous | February 12, 2008 10:27 AM

I like that Natalie Cole and Keith Richards are both publically commenting thusly about Winehouse. I'd love to see more musicians that have been through that hell and come back (I'm looking at you, Steven Tyler) do the same.

Posted by: 23112 | February 12, 2008 10:42 AM

Wow, I can see how hurt Nic Cage would be about Kathleen Turner's comments. Who the heck would want to be accused of stealing a nippy, bug-eyed, hydrocephalic dog? She could at least have had the decency to accuse him of stealing a real dog.

Posted by: e | February 12, 2008 10:50 AM

Did Keef really go through hell? I tend to thin he enjoyed every minute of it. Steve Tallarico on the other hand, yeah, total hell trip and back.

Who would want to see Mizz Spears on tour right now? For the money I'm sure there are much cheaper train wreaks out there.

I kind of agree with MGC (and others). Are we going to start putting "*" next to the names of performers who were on substances when they won a Grammy. Good luck identifying all of them! Or is Natalie Cole's proposed standard that only performers who obviously have substance abuse problems should not receive Grammys? I'm not a big Amy Winehouse fan, but who's to say that receiving the awards won't cause her to wake up and realize what she is throwing away if she doesn't get it together? Natalie Cole's comments really do sound like sour grapes. Maybe she has been taking cues from Kanye West and Katherine Heigl on how to get negative attention for herself.

I feel bad for Lenny K., but I have to wonder if this has something to do with his year long celibacy? Having all those fluids backed up in your system can't be healthy....

"I feel bad for Lenny K., but I have to wonder if this has something to do with his year long celibacy? Having all those fluids backed up in your system can't be healthy...."

If 'those' fluids backed up into his lungs he has some major issues that have nothing to do with celibacy.

"Dolly Parton blames breasts for postponed tour..."

A spokesperson for the magnificent mammaries says they are uncomfortable with the travel arrangements for the tour and they would like a custom tour bus of their own. Something in a low cut and modestly sexy design, perhaps, crafted in black velvet and trimmed with mesh cutout windows.

"They have concerns that riding day and night on Dolly's bus with her and the band will not be a good fit," said Brenda Brassiere. They sincerely that hope Ms. Parton will show them her support in this matter."

Maybe, the Grammys should form a drug testing policy along like MLB. This way committee will know which artists are on the "juice" before nominations are handed out.

Guess Fergie drank the Kool-Aid. Another day, another celeb pregnant (yawn).

Speaking of kids, what nut would allow Brit near children?

"With kids this young, I'm certain that their parents/guardians are close by in case anything bizarre or inappropriate might happen."

Yeah, 'cause Britney never does ANYTHING bizarre or inappropriate. Did she walk into the class of toddlers naked? Or not wearing underwear?

Posted by: Anonymous | February 12, 2008 12:36 PM

Natalie Cole's comments make no sense. She seems to be saying that illegal drug use should make one ineligible for a Grammy. Just imagine who would be qualified to receive a Grammy if this was a real criteria. I'm drawing a blank.

Another day, another Bai Ling skankin' up the red carpet sighting:

I'm also in the camp that doesn't get Natalie Cole's comments about Amy Winehouse. Why is Amy Winehouse held to a different standard for receiving awards for MUSICAL talent, and why does Natalie Cole think she's in a moral position of authority to determine that criterion? (Pot, kettle--just sayin'.)

If Natalie Cole is concerned about the message musicians' personal behavior sends to the youth of the world, well, there are certainly plenty of examples out there for Ms. Cole to take on, and perhaps Ms. Cole could start a crusade. Or maybe join Tipper Gore's defunt morals crusade.

On the other hand, if Ms. Cole is genuinely concerned about Ms. Winehouse's personal well-being and wishes that she'd get clean and start living a better life (like she herself did?), perhaps there are more helpful and more private ways of inspiring her to do that.

I'm actually a fan of Natalie Cole, but this kind of sanctimonious claptrap just frosts me.

I've never heard of anyone hospitalized for simple Acute Bronchits. Maybe Bronchitis on top of some other pre existing condition but an otherwise healthy young man does not get hospitalized for Bronchitis. Plus the year of celibacy. Is there more to this story?
