'Lost' Madness: First Votes Are In...

"Dude, I lost?" (ABC)

The first round of "Lost" Madness, our attempt to turn the island into a pseudo-NCAA Tournament, is over. That means it's time to vote in round two, which will determine which characters wind up in the Sweet 16. You can see who advanced and make the latest selections right now by clicking here.

Quickly, here is a rundown of the initial match-ups that proved most interesting:

-- As expected, the controversial Sawyer vs. Hurley battle was a tight one. But, proving that the bad boy always wins, Sawyer took 56.2 percent of the vote to Hugo's 43.8.

--Voters overwhelming opted for dog over baby, giving Vincent 62.9 percent of the vote over poor, sweet little Aaron.

--Shocker of the tourney so far: You voted to send Ana Lucia to the next round over Miles Straume. Um, what?

--Most depressing result (for me): For reasons that are clearly unfathomable, Shannon (52.9 percent) beat out Boone.

That's "Lost" Madness, people. Sometimes the brat beats a hot stepbrother in a buzzer beater.

I'm voting for Sawyer. He's my favorite character.

I forgot to vote in Round 1, but I would have voted for Hurley. Love Sawyer, but Hurley's got that Dude! thing going on.

You apparently failed to realize that Shannon and Ana Lucia are actually compelling characters. Shocking, I know. Boone is cute and all, but supremely boring. And Miles only has the boring thing going for him.

I am a guy and think that a lot of guys must have voted. I voted for Shannon and Ana Lucia for the hotness factor.
I did vote for Sawyer and Jack just because they are crucial to the show.

No! You people only voted for Sawyer because you think he's hot! Hurley is way awesomer. This blog's skewed readership gives an unfair advantage to straight girls.

Ana Lucia was the under-appreciated and interesting character of Lost. There, I said it.

And Shannon was also becoming a very interesting character; I liked seeing her stretch herself and become more rounded (um, this is starting to sound weird) to help with the survival.

Which all leads to who the real mastermind on the island is: Vincent. Yep, that evil dog that lead Shannon to her doom.

Sawyer. Sawyer. Sawyer. I'll said it one more time. Sawyer.

What in God's name is wrong with women?

Sawyer, if you analyze the guy, is a failure, a criminal, deceitful, prone to violence, selfish and in many cases just down right stupid. And yet he's the guy the women on this board seem to be drawn to. Not Hurley, the guy who is always thinking about what is right. Not Jack, the leader who cares about everyone in the group. Not Locke, the strongest man in the group who seems to be able to overcome even death. Not Jen, a man who last night forgave his wife after finding out she cheated on him.

I'm sorry but men have a very good reason to wonder just what is going on inside a woman's head when it comes to picking men. Oh, I forgot, he's hot. Yea, that explains it all 8*}

Merriam-Webster Definition:
"Ludicrous": meriting derisive laughter or scorn as absurdly inept, false, or foolish. EXAMPLE< "It was utterly ludicrous to any person with an ounce of intelligence for Shannon (the self-absorbed princess/harlot suffering from conveniently planned asthma attacks) to triumph over her step-brother Boone (the brave, assertive, intelligent & strikingly attractive gentleman so abruptly taken from us by Locke's idiotic notions) in the 'LOST' March Madness results. "Ludicrous". RELATED WORDS: asinine, brainless, dumb.
