Sneak Peek: Miley Cyrus's Memoirs

Teen queen Miley Cyrus: I (heart) me. (AP)

Miley Cyrus has reportedly inked a seven-figure deal to pen her memoirs. And none too soon. At 15, she's achieved the maturity and distance needed to reflect on her life's lessons. Although the book won't hit stores until 2009, Celebritology has obtained (wink wink) an incomplete outline of the book's proposed chapters, complete with handy descriptions.

Chapter 1: Achy, Breaky Start -- In which I am born in the same year my pops hits the country charts with his hip-shaking "Achy Breaky Heart," a song which I hear set a new record for inspiring groans among grunged-out college kids. That record was later broken by Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On."

Chapters 2 - 12: The Building Years -- At this point, I was like a high-yield hedge fund early on in its life cycle. You have to contribute before your investment starts racking up the returns. So, I was invested in once it became clear that pops was a one-hit wonder who could one day look forward to an early-out on "Dancing With the Stars" -- taught to read, sing and charm Disney execs.

Chapter 13: Hanna Montana Rulz -- Corny, predictable "Hannah Montana" rises to the top of Disney's programming slate. And I am like a total hit. I'm like Raven Simone and that Spears-ified "Zoey 101" combined. Bow down before my brand-name name.

Chapter 14: Ka-Ching -- In which I charge my pre-tween fan base hundreds of dollars to see me -- or sometimes not me -- deliver the bubblegum pop of my "Best of Both Worlds" tour. See, sometimes I'm Miley. Then, I'm Hannah. Then, sometimes I'm not me at all. Did I mention that I rule?

Chapter 15: Prime Time -- At 90 percent of the book, this chapter will chronicle the 12 months encompassing my career pinnacle -- I attend the Oscars, perform on "Idol Gives Back," discover YouTube, cook up a little Internet bra pix scandal and change my name to Miley Ray Cyrus.

Chapter 16: TBD -- old age -- like 18. It'll probably include Paris Hilton, "The View" and a reality show.

Miley writing her memoirs is like the time Hillary Duff put out a best of compilation prior to that she had only released two albums.

If those chapter highlights were posts in the comments section, Liz would easily have racked up 6 best comments of the week.

Lizz Kelly Rules.

Posted by: omni | April 24, 2008 11:24 AM

I hope she writes in the style of James Joyce. That would rule. "Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Ham".

Posted by: Anonymous | April 24, 2008 11:48 AM

Speaking of Achy Breaky Barf - One of those chapters should be about how she had the foresight (or right manager) to tell her to change her name from Destiny Hope Cyrus which is what her Father came up with.

I bet there will be a whole crop of girls named Miley coming in the next few years.

Posted by: sjcpeach | April 24, 2008 11:50 AM

Okay, this is probably too nasty, but it's been bugging me for a while and I gotta get it off my chest: Why hasn't something been done about her teeth? You're telling me there wasn't enough money left over from "Achy Breaky" for one set of braces before Miley got famous? And now that she is famous and has more money than God in her own right, there are all sorts of things they can do with braces that won't have her going through the "metal mouth" phase most of the rest of the country has had to deal with at one point or another. I can't even look at her when she talks, I'm afraid she's going to bite herself!

Posted by: tl | April 24, 2008 11:56 AM

Honestly, at 15, what is she going to write about? How much life experience has she had (that the Disney corporation will allow to be published)? At this point, the publishing company could have said, "Here -- have $10 and put out a flyer with bullet points."

Posted by: CentrevilleMom | April 24, 2008 11:57 AM

Of course, in Paris she'd be known as Kilometery. You know, because of the metric system.

You forgot the vh1 "Behind the Music" in 2016. Cue the announcer guy:

At 20, Miley hit. Rock bottom. Her tween fans had moved on, but she clung to her rapidly shrinking fan base rather than expand her universe into new ventures such as Broadway or Japanese commercials.

Despite an attempt to restart her music career with a Miley/Hannah duet of "Achy Breaky Heart," her popularity waned and she feared becoming a forgotten entry in the even-less-popular Wikipedia.

Hope came in the form of Britney Spears and Madonna. Having both conquered parenthood and bad dye jobs -- and Britney already a far cry from the lost, depressed waif of 2008 -- the two elder pop queens took Miley and Hannah under her wing.

The quartet's remake of "Lady Marmalade" hit the top of the charts just before Miley's 21st birthday. Fame had returned.

Miley Ray Cyrus. Was. Back.

Posted by: td | April 24, 2008 12:14 PM

Well, at 15 perhaps Ms Cyrus will pull a Paolini and just crib concepts from others. Chapter 17 - Where Prince Adriatic, disguised as a Ranger, rescues Miley from geriatric fanboys in a daring misappropriated RAF helicopter raid?

Posted by: Quintilus Varus | April 24, 2008 12:20 PM

I think the Miley's book should be subtitled
"This Is My Achy Breaky Spinal Tap, But My Hannah Will Go On."

Geee, there's two Chapters slugged out, already.

Posted by: Sasquatch | April 24, 2008 12:22 PM

This chick already reeks of ultraskank. I thought for awhile that Hayden Panattiatieriatierre was poised to become the next Lohan, but my money's on Miley now.

Posted by: trumance | April 24, 2008 12:31 PM

Under 'In Entertainment' there's a post about Huckabee writing a book about his failed presidential bid. That didn't last 15 years so what could he possibly have to write about?

Posted by: jes | April 24, 2008 12:40 PM

Man, so many Miley haters out there. Me, I'm looking forward to what should prove to be a gem of little book. I just hope the publisher springs for glossy photo pages. I imagine she won't need a good editor, since I'm guessing Miley is pretty well-read. In fact, seeing the depth of her work thus far, I bet she has been (or will be) working hard to polish her writing craft. I'm just bummed we have to wait to so long for her prose.

Really, if Pam Anderson and Nicole Richie can get sweet advances and prime bookstore space, why not Miss Hannah Montana?

Meanwhile, the artist inside me dies a little more. And my own unnoticed book is buried deeper and deeper.

Posted by: Phil | April 24, 2008 12:46 PM

..but starting to get annoyed.

I like her, she can be adorable at times --and I admit that sometimes I watch Hannah Montana (and i'm in my 20's.)

But a book deal about her life? Way to early.

I don't think she'll become a Lohan (mostly b/c I think she knows just how much of a role model she is for her very young audience), but there is a such thing as over saturation.

I'll just wait for the biopic.

Posted by: Sigh | April 24, 2008 1:18 PM

does miley even go to a reagular high school? if so than we could all be regaled with lovely stories of high school drama and girls being catty. if not i am sure she could mush enough stuff matierial together from the sweet valley twins and saved by the bell re-runs to at least give us something! and liz you missed the expo chapter about her relationship with one of the jonas brothers. (i think she was dating the youngest one with the curly locks.) what dark secrets does he know....

Posted by: melissamac1 | April 24, 2008 1:24 PM

Word, tl!! I can't stand her teeth!! They drive me insane, too.

And I know, I know, she's only 15, but man, she bugs. In interviews she reminds a lot of that girl in high school that wouldn't ever shut up. You'd try to talk to her & she'd talk right over you. And as annoying as she was, for some reason she was still in the popular crowd! Argh!! Hm, I'm in my 30s. Obviously I still have some issues from high school to work out.

Posted by: different liz | April 24, 2008 1:24 PM

"I'll just wait for the biopic."

But Sigh, who -- who, I ask? -- has enough talent, charm, personality, and life experience to play a 15-year-old superstar singer/dancer/actress/scion?

Casting such a biopic would require a search worthy of Scarlett O'Hara proportions!

Unless . . . unless -- no, it's a crazy thought -- unless we could possibly POSSIBLY persuade -- I'm telling you it's crazy, but here goes:

Do you think Miley could be persuaded to play the part in the movie herself?

Posted by: td | April 24, 2008 1:32 PM

Huh, a memoir at 15...gripping, I'm sure. I just hope she doesn't embellish like that dude on Oprah.

Posted by: jake e. poo | April 24, 2008 1:34 PM

And besides -- clearly I am WAY too interested in this topic -- does Miley's mother exist? I've never seen her. Or did Billy Ray just asexually bud on one side and out came Destiny (hee hee, as it were)?

Posted by: td | April 24, 2008 1:35 PM

I think the fact that I'm actually taking the time to write a comment about a parody of the Miley Ray Whatchamacallit memoirs is commentary enough.

Posted by: moslackyb | April 24, 2008 1:49 PM

td, take look here: http://www.tvguide.com/images/pgimg/ama13.jpg

Leticia "tish" is Miley's mother on the right.

To hear of a 15 year-old to write memoirs, seems to me that Disney is just acting like a "Pimp Daddy", whoring out their latest money maker (Miley). While I agree she is talented, I also feel that she is being taken huge advantage of, by all parties that manage her to get there percentages of her income. Someone tell me what a 15 year-old would have to write about?? It was bad enough that people were dumb enough to pay big $$$$ for her concert. Just looks like people are just capitalizing on her.

Posted by: FremontMom | April 24, 2008 1:54 PM

People, people, why are you getting your panties in a wad? Have you ever heard of the phrase "Milking the money cow". Come on, she is hot(not in the sexual sense, but as a celebrity). Between her managers and Disney, they better get the money while she is popular. I think Chris Rock's summarized it the best, while at an MTV awards, and it applies to any celebrity, especially a 15 year old Miley: "HERE TODAY, GONE TODAY!!"

Posted by: Emmanuel | April 24, 2008 2:00 PM

True, jes, but in terms of trying to grab the presidential nomination, time moves infintely slower -- somewhat akin to one human year equaling seven dog years, only much longer. Given this time dilation, Huckabee has ample items and time to cover and Hilary and Obama have been sparring for the equivalent of the Hundred Years' War. :)

Posted by: CentrevilleMom | April 24, 2008 2:02 PM

Thanks, omni!

Posted by: td | April 24, 2008 2:04 PM

This isn't a memoir, it's propaganda for furthering the Miley Ray Cyrus brand and promoting her new movie.

A buck a book is a small price for Disney to pay for promotional material.

I dunno about the chapter layout, but I'm sure it will be 1/3 Jesus, 1/3 joys of growing up in a small town, and 1/3 overcoming some pretend challenge (like being too short for Disney, fighting acne or mastering bar chords). Either way you slice it, to anyone over 13, it will likely be 100% boring.

Posted by: MoCoSnarky | April 24, 2008 2:16 PM

Someone brought up Huckabee. That's going to be a combined memoir and cookbook. Behind that backdrop of an epic, grass-roots, come from behind campaign, he'll feature his recipe for squirrel cooked in a popcorn popper.

If his wife throws in some deer hunting tips, I'd say he has an instant best seller right there.

Posted by: MoCoSnarky | April 24, 2008 2:20 PM

are her Dad and Mom still married to each other? Never hear of her.

Posted by: maj | April 24, 2008 2:26 PM

Miley, meh.

'Hannah Montana' is a hammy overacted show even by Disney Channel standards. For some real quality tweener entertainment check out 'iCarly' or 'Wizards of Waverly Place'.

I know a little more about the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon than is really appropriate for a man of my age.

Posted by: yellojkt | April 24, 2008 2:28 PM

Okay, COMPLETELY off topic, but I felt like this needed to be mentioned for the Pride and Prejudice fans in the crowd...

The Cyrus family is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Disney Corporation. So are
Elizabeth Vargas and Marc Cohn. Cohn's
"walking in memphis" gives 'achy breaky heart' a run for top groaner.

Posted by: omni | April 24, 2008 3:06 PM

Hey, watch what you say about "Walking in Memphis"! I love that song.

Having said that (a little off topic, I know), I'll never forget watching a feature a couple of years ago on, I think, "20/20" about Marc Cohn's recovery from being shot in the head. It was reported by, yes, Elisabeth Vargas. Talk about a groaner, at least from a journalistic point of view.

Posted by: KLeewrite | April 24, 2008 3:08 PM

"Hey, watch what you say about "Walking in Memphis"! I love that song."

I do too -- at least I did until I heard Cher's version of it. Now? Not so much.

Posted by: td | April 24, 2008 3:16 PM

The only time it made sense, in my opinion, for a child star to write a memoir was when Drew Barrymore wrote hers about her struggles as a child star with a substance abuse problem. I believe she was 14 years old at the time she wrote it (maybe 15) but she had already lived through more at that age than a lot of adults had. What is Miley Cyrus going to write about - the wealth of knowledge she acquired from playing with Barbies?

Posted by: linds | April 24, 2008 3:52 PM

Perhaps it will be a pop up book with washable pages. Who the heck else would read it????

believe it or not her face is still growing -- she'll grow into them.

then she can put out a second set of memoirs about the trials of having big teeth, and a small mouth (that would be the challenge-to-overcome section.)

Let's hope she gets enough advice, and knows to get out while she's on top.

Maybe it's backlash from previous teen stars like Britney, but as much as I enjoy the snarky-ness of Celebritology, I don't totally get the love for hating on a teenage girl who is a bit overexposed PR-wise, as well as slightly annoying. If anything, I feel sorry for her since her father seems like he might be a Joe Simpson wannabe, pimp-my-daughter type. Liz's post is funny, but some of the comments about her on this website are a bit much -- in particular, I am thinking of one a couple of weeks ago where someone wished she would die, or something along those lines. Not to sound holier than thou, but if you are devoting a significant amount of time to hating on tweens, perhaps you should look for a new hobby!

Posted by: Jess | April 24, 2008 6:33 PM

They could have filmed her life in real time and "Law & Order" would still have been on the air longer.

Miley Cyrus's popularity will not fade so easily, even if there are more scandals. She's so big right now that it would take something really drastic to sink her. In fact, I predict she'll be even more popular.
I don't know why people still underestimate her. Actually, everyone should've seen her star coming. From the very beginning she showed great potential.
Like many actors these days, she could both sing and act, but you add that to the good writing on the Hannah Montana show, her perfect timing in the comic bits, good or decent acting as well from all the actors, and surprisingly great music (for its intended audience) during the interludes and you have a hit show. Since the focus of the show is the main character, Hannah Montana, a star is therefore born, Miley Cyrus. If I had been aware of this show from the beginning I could've easily predicted Miley's present success.
Now she's gradually turning to a more mainstream audience and that is usually tricky, but Miley is both clever and supremely multi-talented. That is rare. Plus, she has good people guiding her, mainly her family.
I predict that Miley will be bigger than Britney or Madanna, even at the height of their fame. In fact, Miley is often looking like the successor to Britney.
Based upon Miley's existent fan base which she'll still have for at least three more years, her proven and exceptional talents in singing, acting and comedy, the continuing addition of many older fans as she transitions, the wholesomeness of her personal life, and the boldness of her act (she never shies away from pushing the envelope and always delivers a good show) I'd say we're looking at a bonefide superstar.
Of course a major part of that outcome will depend on Miley still producing great music for her older audience, a thing that is not easy to predict, but she's already proven herself with the tweens and has started to with the more mainstream fans in the music of her Miley songs.
Therefore, barring any unforseen circumstances, I'd say Miley Cyrus will be the number one entertainer in the world for the foreseeable future.

You all are a bunch of pessimists, trying to prove how much more intellectual you are by making clever comments and immaturely bashing her teeth -- which are FINE, and I think gives her character. You'd all probably bash her for having teeth too straight if she got it fixed, anyway.

Jealously is so incurable, isn't it? Give the girl a chance. I applause her for taking a risk by publishing a book, because I think that is a lot harder to do than putting out a record in my opinion. Calm down, creative writing extremists -- your book will get noticed when you publish one. Miley's memoirs aren't going to win the Pulitzer Prize anytime soon.

She's lived more than most thirty year olds.

Miley Cyrus is just completely overrated and has way too much air time on TV. I think what makes people hate her even more (her haters, I mean) is that Disney puts her face out there EVERYWHERE! Seriously, you cannot escape her! It's so annoying!

P.S.: I've heard that Miley will not be the one actually writing the book. She'll definitely be putting her two-cents in, but Disney's hired a "ghostwriter" to write her a big hit and let her take the credit.

The magazine WEALTHY GOSSIP reported that woman is seeking rich men on famous and largest dating site ---Tallhub.c om--- these days. On that site, there are some of her hot pictures and the wordings show he needs A xx in a hurry. But she said it is an absolutely slur and she are requiring the apologize from the magazine!

I've watched Hannah Montana ever since it came out (and I'm 19 years old, almost 20) and I have to admit, it's a pretty awesome show. Yes, the fact that her face is everywhere can get a bit annoying and over the top, but it's just PR. The fact that you guys are all slamming her because of her continuing increase in popularity and worldwide fame can only amount to one thing: The lives that you guys live are so meaningless and uninteresting that you have to slam celebrities/ actors/ singers just because they figured out earlier in life that they had talent and used it to their advantage just so you can sleep peacefully at night.

That is SUCH A STUPID IDEA! I mean why would people wana read a book all about miley cyrus/destiny hope/hannah montana?! I mean, she aint that great anyways! The only reason she got on the show was because of her stupid dad, who only had like 2 hit songs! And that stupid song he wrote about Miley is just supre retarded... I mean what about the other 4 kids he has? Does he care about them, or does he just like the worst kid of all? Miley Cyrus can't even sing, act, or match clothes! Writing a book is stupid
