Edwards Ad: No Difference Between 'Corporate Republicans' and 'Corporate Democrats'
The third ad released by John Edwards this week steps up his populist rhetoric, and hits both Republicans and fellow Democrats.
"Rigged" is the fifth Edwards ad to air in New Hampshire since last summer. Another ad, "Together" is also airing statewide this week.
"This system is corrupt. And it's rigged. And it's rigged against you," Edwards says. "And we can say 'As long as we get Dmeocrats in, everything's going to be OK.' It's a lie. It's not the truth. Do you really believe if we replace a crowd of corporate Republicans with a crowd of Democrats that anything meaningful is going to change? This has to stop. It's that simple."
Edwards' style and rhetoric is packaged by Joe Trippi, who for a time ran Howard Dean's 2004 presidential campaign. As washingtonpost.com's Chris Cillizza recently reported, "One Democratic consultant who has worked with Trippi said the common thread in the majority of the presidential campaigns with which Trippi has been involved is an outrage with the way Washington operates."
This new ad certainly channels such outrage.
