VoteVets Release Ad on McCain, GI Bill
The VoteVets.org political action committee and the VoteVet Action Fund has released a new ad asking the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, Sen. John McCain to back a new GI Bill being proposed by Sens. Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.) and Jim Webb (D-Va.).
McCain has come under fire from Democratic leaders for not signing on to the bill. Veterans in the ad say that President Bush also opposes the bill.
One of the Iraq veterans featured in the ad says, "in today's economy, the old bill doesn't do enough."
.
The ad is running today and Wednesday of this week on cable news channels.
VoteVets.org made a very similar ad asking Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.) to support the legislation as well. This ad is running in San Antonio and Waco, Texas media markets. San Antonio has three military bases: Fort Sam Houston, Lackland Air Force Base and Randolph Air Force Base. Waco is home of TSTC Waco Airport. The airport is formerly known as Waco Army Field and is currently used as an arrival and departure site for President Bush when he visits his ranch in Crawford, Texas.

This is a lot of money, but I guess we owe it to the Vets. I used the GI Bill after Vietnam, and it helped. I am an independent, but to not vote for this is a real problem for the Repubs. How un patriotic to dis our vets. This is the standard chickenhawk stance. Web used to be a republican under reagan, I believe Navy secretary. To get bipartisan support on this is great, how about it you redneck peckerwood repubs, why not support our troops, or would you rather appease and support terrorism?

still can't fact check that sentence about bush's support or opposition of the bill, huh ???
is it that hard to think of phony issues to slander Obama, that you have to spend all your time on that, instead of, you know, doing actual journalism

free patriot...Bush has openly stated he will veto this bill...Thing is with 76 supporting senators it is veto proof.
Don't you think our vets deserve to be taken care of after sacrificing blood , sweat and tears for their country?
How much of a patriot are you really?
o need to provide YOU with confirmation of the presidents position..
Do your own homework , lazy bum...

Do your own homework , lazy bum...
cuz, you know, expecting a JOURNALIST to do that would be crazy ???
what planet are you on
you might have noticed that I said I already knew.
my point was that this schlock propaganda artist avoided stating bush's ACTUAL and KNOWN position on the bill, and instead of crediting bush with his own statements, used the trick of claiming that the Vets in the ad were the only ones stating george bush's position
george bush said he was going to veto the bill
so why are we told the the VETS say george bush will veto the bill
who cares what the Vets say about george bush's actions
why don't you report what george bush says he's going to do, instead of what the Vets say that george bush will do
especially since there is NO controversy between the Vets understanding of george bush position and george bush's actual statements
doing this creates the implication that the Vets are falsely stating bush's position, when that isn't the issue
the truth
the whole truth
and nothing BUT the truth
the truth is, george bush said he was going to veto this bill, which was accuratly stated in the ad, by the Vets
but you wouldn't know that by reading this dreck
it's about LOUSY AND LAZY JOURNALIST
if they ain't flat out lying on purpose
try your common sense skills some time

how are you able to explore the minutia of a phony issue about an Obama speech, and yet you are only able to report the bare facts when mcsame is the topic of discussion ???
a real journalist would find out if george bush opposes this bill, instead of just reporting that Democratic Leaders SAY bush opposes the bill
I guess you use most of your time thinking up those phony issues to use against Obama, huh ???
and speaking about creating phony issues to use against Obama, when can we expect the next case of the vapors you call journalism anyway ???
