If Obama is 'Dr. No,' Does That Make McCain 007?

In a presidential campaign that has seen its fair share of bad songs, bad parodies, and the return of Chuck Norris, we can now add a tribute to James Bond.

Exploiting a cute campaign soundbite first used earlier this week, John McCain has released a Web-only ad that compares Barack Obama to the namesake of the 1962 Bond movie, "Dr. No":

Beyond the expert use of 1960s-era graphics, and music sounding similar to the James Bond theme, the ad delivers a serious message: Obama is opposed to the energy proposals that McCain has put forth in recent days, including lifting the ban on off-shore oil exploration, more electric cars, more nuclear power, and government grants for innovative energy-saving products.

Energy has been the topic of some of McCain's recent TV advertising, and he debuted another Web-only ad about energy earlier this week. But it's not clear if energy is a true issue of concern to voters: It ranks low among issues of concern in the new Los Angeles Times-Bloomberg poll, but places higher in the latest Post-ABC News survey.

As a heroic leading man, John McCain and James Bond have many similarities - we're glad the Washington Post aren't the only ones to have noticed.

Extensive experience furthering relations with younger, sometimes exotic women, often wealthy, influential, and/or models.

Keen interest in blowing stuff up.

Unyielding belief in stunts that defy science, physics, and/or common sense.

Working as a "double agent", telling one group of people one thing, while secretly working against their interests.

Reckless disregard for violent and dangerous situations.

Perpetuation of outdated stereotypes of women, racial minorities, and other groups.

Repeated references to being captured and tortured by bad guys.

John McCain is Bond. Sea-Bond. And he will be our next President - super action agent McCain! Women love James Bond, and women love John McCain, a real Man's Man.

McCain == 007?

Hardly, I think the parallel you were looking for is Inspector Clouseau, same funky '60s vibe, far less competence.

This James Bond video of John Mccain is not accurate, rather misleading. Obama say's no to Mccain's pandering policies because he has better policies. It's a wonder that anybody will believe a word Mccain has said. Mccain has flipped flopped on just about every issue and has lied repeatedly. Don't believe me watch below:

McCain is more like Inspector Gadget, where he pulls things out of his backside which is just the opposite of Inspector Gadget. Just think, McSame cannot even run a computer, and this is a man of experience?

"McCain is more like Inspector Gadget"

as noted by crooks and liars, mccain first compared barack obama to william jennings bryan; when the overwhelming reaction was 'huh?', st john's then compared barack obama to jimmy carter -- you know the man who has devoted his year since the presidence to rebuilding destroyed communities; overseeing elections in post-conflict countries and been awarded the nobel peace prize. oops, that attempted smear didn't work either -- except among the true believers.

so now, st john has compared barack obama to a character in a movie that was released one year after obama was born.

perhaps at some point st john will join the rest of the country in the 21st century and will be prepared to debate issues in the current timeframe.

hahahahahahahaha. it's hilarious watching his campaign collapse and the efforts of his mcbase to spin for him.

John McCain = Leslie Nielsen in "Airplane"

Boy, they don't call this the "silly season" for no reason do they. The image of John McCain engaging in the death defying actions that fuel the popularity of the 007 genre are well...preposterous!

Look. I take nothing away from John McCain's courage and valor as a Vietnam POW. But for God's sake! That is 40 years removed from that era and John McCain is 72 years old! He's older than the original Bond for Christs sake!

When is the media going to get over trying to make this old man into some kind of young romantic hero who is going to save the nation from the nefarious and dark Barak "Dr. No" Obama. Anyone with an ounce of intelligence knows that McCain is far closer to the Dr. No character than is Obama if one were to check the litany of No!'s he has uttered to reform of energy, taxes, foreign policy and global warming. The image of McCain as 007 is as phony as is the image of him as a straight talker.

Obama has been accurately compared to a hot sports car with no engine; looks shiney and fast but has nothing under the hood.

McCane = Agent 107
Sorry, I don't mean to be ageist, but 007 is suave and debonair. And didn't Rover say that Obama was the martini sipper?

Dr. No? Sorry WP, you still haven't topped your reference a few weeks ago (calling Senator Obama's campaign an "insurgency"). What's next, advertising yourselves as fair and balanced?

Just pathetic, WP. You've become a VRWC dinosaur while America has already moved on to much bigger and better things. Let's just hope McCain continues to run on a platform of political poison.

Obama camp does seem more interested in destruction than construction, a common trait of all historic revolutionists. Chairman Mao once said, "you can't build new without destroying the old", which I believe Obama will totally agree. Yet Obama himself obviously lack the ability to solve real world problems beyond politics. He will win elections, but will get us to nowhere. As so said a Chinese adage: a very ill man will always seek a bad doctor. We are just doing that.

Just like immigration, McCain changes his position based upon the will of the people and changing circumstances, as any thninking person does. Obama changes his positions, like public funding, for political expediency. Obama is a typical politician.
