John Cusack Quizzes Voters on Bush and McCain

Actor John Cusack fronts a new MoveOn.org ad that continues the group's efforts to tie John McCain to President Bush.

"Betcha Can't Tell Them Apart" is a 30-second spot that is critical of McCain's stance on Iraq, veterans' health care, Social Security and the past lobbying work of some of his senior aides.

MoveOn.org is spending only $45,000 to air the message nationally during primetime on the Bravo network, and in the Washington, D.C., market during local cable ad breaks on CNN, MSNBC and during "The Daily Show" on Comedy Central, according to a source with the Democratic-aligned organization.

Considering that the group's base of support is among liberal, anti-Bush folks, its choice of networks makes sense. Bravo is home to shows such as "Top Chef," "Project Runway," and "Work Out," all popular with younger viewers. CNN and MSNBC are widely described as the preferred news outlets of most liberals, and "The Daily Show" is a natural fit, considering the show's regular criticisms of the president.

The ad is also designed to invite viewers to visit an online quiz the group has produced that also criticizes McCain. This new ad hits airwaves as McCain suggested earlier today that the exact timing of troop withdrawals from Iraq is "not too important," a statement sure to upset and inspire MoveOn once again.
