'Office' Hit and Run
Meredith goes down (because of Michael).
Sprinkles the Cat goes down (because of Dwight).
Pam's computer goes down (because of porn).
Ah, yes. NBC's "The Office" is back for season four -- in all its sublime, glorious ridiculousness.
As usual, it's tough times at Dunder Mifflin, although things get off to a particularly rough start this time. Michael hits Meredith with his car; Angela's cat Sprinkles passes on; and Pam needs some serious IT help.
Michael is right when he says the office is "cursed" and I believe the dim-witted, clueless, infuriating boss -- because after all he's not superstitious, he's just "a little stitious." (God, he's dumb).
But forget about the possible curse hanging over the Scranton, Pa. paper office. Let's check in on the various relationships.
Despite some initial teasing at show's start, we learn that Jim and Pam are, indeed, officially dating. I give it six weeks -- because that's when the fall "sweeps" period starts. Does Pam looks a little more polished this season -- with better hair? I kinda miss the plain-Jane look.
Michael and Jan are living together and we see the fabulous horrible Jan early on, passed out on Michael's bed, most likely sleeping something off. (I believe last season she said she was fond of vodka).
As for Dwight and Angela -- Houston, we have a problem. Dwight killed her cat, claiming it was a mercy killing when he put Sprinkles in the freezer. I personally believe him (although I'm not a big cat person). Angela may never forgive him.
Could this season's "Office" revolve around Dwight and Angela? That would be O.K. with me.

The acting is terrific. When Pam finally admits she and Jim are dating, her smile just bursts out. It seemed too spontaneous to be anything but improv.
Still the best show on network TV.

Loved the episode, the whole Jim/Pam thing seems so...I dunno...real. And even though it was obvious that it was going to happen, I had to laugh about Fettucine Alfredo.

I'm with you -- Angela and Dwight are the future -- the woman who plays Angela is fabulous.

With the exception of one storyline in the season opener, I really enjoyed this episode. It was funny until we learned that Dwight killed Sparkles. To give viewers, especially pet lovers, a mental image of a cat trying to claw its way out of the freezer, went too far in my opinion. Not only is it inhumane, but it will also give pet haters more ideas about ways to torture animals. I hope the animal rights groups lash out at NBC for this.

Well, congratulations, KO. You haven't lived until you've "represented everything that's wrong with this country."
By the way, if you could "grow a sack" then you should be on the Heroes chat. I'm just saying.

Mindy Kaling is a complete delight on the show. The show is a Thanksgiving dinner and Mindy is the delicious ice cream sundae.
The show is the best comedy on television. Steve Carell and Raine Wilson deserve Emmys on a gold platter.

Jan's seen at the 5K race several times, and has a jealous moment over Pam seeing Michael's family jewels. Pam looks different because she's wearing more fashionable clothes in better colors and her hair is down.
