'Heroes': Three Cheers for Claire!
On Monday night's "Heroes": the best high school prank ever.
Claire and Wes give Debbie the Drunk Cheerleader a good scare by staging Claire's murder. Fly Boy, complete in ski mask, grabs Claire right in front of Debbie's disbelieving eyes, taker her up a mile high and drops her on the front steps of the high school.
Joke's on Debbie, of course -- Claire's just fine -- and no one, including the cops, believe Debbie's story.
Debbie's out of a job as head cheerleader meaning our little Claire Bear is the newest member of the Costa Verde squad. Awesome, Claire!
In 1671 Japan, Hiro's love Yaeko has the line of the night: "Why are you still here?" she asks Hiro. We're thinking the same thing ourselves, Yaeko. It looks like we're staying in the mini-"Shogun" movie for a while, too, after Kensei sucker punches Hiro when he catches him smooching Yaeko.
Maya, Alejandro and their escort Sylar have finally made it to the States but not before Maya has to waste a group of rogue border patrol guards with those Baby Blacks of hers. Sylar has the hots for Maya, or at least her powers, calling her a "shiny new toy." Ewww.
Peter and the Irish lass make it to Montreal and, after an embrace, find themselves in an abandoned Times Square -- circa 2008. Kind of fake looking, don't you think?
Claire being dropped on her head by Fly Boy was much more believable.

Why do you reviewers write about the same shows over and over every week? I was excited about this blog, but not anymore.
Where are the mentions of some of the new exciting shows on cable, like Mad Men? Or discussions about more of the new network shows, like Pushing Daisies?
All I see are the same shows mentioned every week: Heroes, that model thing, the Office, that dancing thing.
How about broadening your range a bit???

I can't believe you didn't write about the best part...Claire's daddy outdoing Jack Bristow (from Alias) for sheer menacing badassery. Having the Haitian remove his old mentor's most cherished memories one at a time is on a par with Bristow suffocating a guy to death, then reviving him and threatening to do it again.

Thanks for pointing out that scene -- that was a pretty dramatic turn of events. Nice noting of "Alias" connection on your part.

Thanks for the blogs...I quit watching Heroes after Episode 2 (boring). Nice to check in and see that I'm not missing much! Why didn't Sylar take Maya's powers yet?

I picture Sylar killing Alejandro and taking Maya for companionship. She will have to do what he says or else become a walking plague. This is the only thing saving this plotline. Go Sylar, its your birthday...
Every other plotline is incredibly boring. There are so many signs that the writers have become lazy. 1) Everyone is related, 2) reusing powers (4 people now can make you see what they want you to see), 3) AMNESIA? Puh-leez, 4) and on and on. And if someone doesnt kill Molly and her two dads I'll do it myself!

"Why didn't Sylar take Maya's powers yet?"
In the first episode of this season, Sylar discovers that he can't use ANY of his powers...he even manually sawed off the top of the illusion-casting chick and rummaged around her brain before realizing his abilities weren't working right. I'm not sure if it means all or just some of them, but he's impotent right now.

If Kensei has the same regenerative powers as Claire, any chance he's still alive in the present?

To 23112,
Everything about that story rocked. Mr Bennette kicks butt in the morning and never takes names. Sweet.
I was starting to doubt Hiro would be the hero but when he got knocked out, that theory might not have been so far off.
Is Claire's new beau the masked figure in the painting where Claire's dad is dead? Has this already been proven?
I'm eager to find out who this Adam is and where Peter's been this whole time.
And finally my new "I'd like to slap that character winner" is Maya. For the love girl how bloody slow and trusting are you? Just looking at Syklar I get the cripes.

So, was Sylar treated with the same serum that Sharesh was almost forced to give Molly? Is that how he lost his powers?
I agree with many that the show is off to a very shaky start--teetering towards "Smallville" cutesy, adolescent appeal. Still, there is a thread of substance that keeps me tuning in. Trying to get my fantasy fix until "Lost" returns next year.
Keep hope alive!

I'm a mixed bag at the moment... sick of the Peter & Hiro storylines, but know with "Heroes", those storylines are very significant. Glad things are starting to move forward reg Peter, but Hiro....
It's unknown how Sylar lost his powers.
I read a teaser about Kensei..... (leave it at that)
Also saw in USA Today that backstory regarding Peter surviving blast, etc, will be broadcast Nov 12.

I'm completely uninterested in the Hiro-Yaeko and Peter-Whatshername storlines. It should be clear to all that if you don't have a power or don't work for the Company, the show has no use for you. I suspect that one or both of these women will be killed off some time during November sweeps.

Not to be a virology geek, but if art imitates life, then Mohinder didn't destroy all of the virus by smashing the refrigerator. First, they're should be easy to recover and grow. Second, refrigerated vials are the ones that you plan to use in the near future. You freeze your stock (source) material at -70 Celsius or in liquid nitrogen (-200 C).
Sylar's powers are probably dormant. In teh episode where he killed the car thief, he heard ticking, which may foreshadow the return of his powers.
"If Kensei has the same regenerative powers as Claire, any chance he's still alive in the present?"
Kensei is Connor MacLeod. There can be only one.

Last season, I'd drop everything to watch "Heroes" and I only missed one episode. This season, I can barely watch it for two minutes without switching to TBS or "I Love New York 2."
Get it together Tim Kring, before NBC pulls the plug.
