'Project Runway': Jersey Girls Run Amok

Ever in fashion, leave it to this week's "Runway" to feature a Hillary Moment.

There sat the spotlight-loving competitor, who week after week had been tough-talking and smart and confident to the point of perceived smugness -- seeming utterly sure of electoral victory. All the others in the field were simply pretenders and contenders who hadn't yet realized their limitations. For this New York transplant, the coronation would come in the months ahead.

Suddenly, a bump in the road: A younger person with outspoken ideas who threatened to derail the unstoppable train. Instantly, the prospect of early elimination loomed.

So what did Christian do? Like any candidate of good fortune or design, Christian had an emotional moment -- not quite tearing up, but certainly letting a little humanity shine through the calculating exterior. Boy Wonder was not a robot after all, but rather a competitor who was feeling the growing pressure of the trail. Quickly, to some, Christian became more likable. And more important, he survived to design another day.

Last night, the "Runway" contestants had a particularly daunting challenge: to design a prom dress for girls from a New Jersey high school. Victorya won the challenge with a short, poufy bright-blue dress (with faux halter and bejeweled top) that teen Jessica looked completely comfortable in. For our (limited Mood budget) money, though, the real winner was Sweet P, who bounced back from constant bottom-three finishes to come in second with a simple and stunning champagne dress that really fit her Jersey girl, Nicole.

And who got Auf'd? The bottom two were contestants who some had tabbed as near-sure things for Bryant Park: Christian and Kevin. Christian's real crime was not his too-short beaded-and-lace creation, but his blaming his Jersey girl, Maddie, for the overworked dark-brown design disaster. Unfortunately for Kevin, it was his red dress with the funky "non-hem" that was the worst of the bunch, and Kevin went bye-bye -- though with class and a vow that we'll be hearing from him again as a designer.

Till next week, we leave it to you to discuss...

Those high school chicks need to cut back on the McDonald's and Taco Bell. My God, they were HUGE! It's a disgusting look into the future. As if America needed to get any fatter.
