'Jericho': At the End of His Rope

Goetz goes down! (Actually, he goes up, but in a really bad, hanging-from-a-noose kind of way.)

So it appears that the Ravenwood threat to the town of Jericho is finally eliminated, but with just two episodes to go this season, we still have that massive Cheyenne government/Jennings & Rall conspiracy to deal with.

With Beck away for most of last night's show (off to investigate a pipe bombing in New Bern), the town of Jericho did indeed play in this bloody, shoot-'em-up episode.

The standoff at the Medical Center dominated most of the action and props go -- once again -- to Hawkins for getting the Jerichoians out of that particular jam. Nice takedown of those mean Ravenwooders who tried to trick him into messing up the Med Center situation.

Meanwhile, there's a bounty on Heather's head from Constantino and his New Bern followers. Good ol' Russell, in town to take her down, just couldn't do that to his old friend. As it turns out, Russell got what he wanted: Goetz's head on a rope.

Stanley mourns Bonnie but tells Mimi it wasn't her fault -- even though it kinda was.

Hawkins keeps working his mystery man -- the big revelation from him this week was that the Cheyenne government president was once a Jennings & Rall man. Not much of a shocker, but, hey, sometimes it's nice when a serial show keeps it simple.

Finally, the Hot Jennings & Rall Girl -- Trish -- comes through in a big way by turning in that evil Goetz, before his eventual assassination from a very angry Stanley.

We got two shows left, fans. Next target: Valente and the Cheyenne government.

If I knew who to write to say "Thank you" for listening to the public and keeping Jericho on, I would write them. This season has left me on the edge of my seat every week. It has been wonderful.

NOT Mimi's fault at all, even a little. Saying that it's even a little bit Mimi's fault is something Bush would think and therfor equivalent to 'fuzz math'. Bad on You!

I love this show! I make sure that Jericho is recorded every week so I don't miss an episode. I hope that we will have more of Jericho in the future. Best show on TV!

Cheryl, you can write to audsvcs@cbs.com and let them know you enjoy the show and want another season.

Jericho is by far the best show on t.v. today. I can hardly wait for Tuesday's to come around so I can see it.
Please make sure there will be another season.

Thank you

I've put a summary and link to this recap in our Jericho blog/news archive.

Anyone looking for the addresses of who to write to help keep Jericho on the air can find them on any of the many Jericho websites.

Possibly the best episode to date.

Season 2 just gets better every week!

I hope CBS does the right thing and gives Jericho a much-deserved Season 3.

Does the mystery man sound like Beck? (As improbable as that is.)

I'm sure you meant, last two episodes of THIS season, right?
Goetz on a rope! LOVE IT!!
AWESOME EPISODE!!
CBS would be nuts not to renew JERICHO.
And they would break several million hearts.
CBS, don't be cruel, renew JERICHO!!

I'm loving this season, but folks, the ratings suck. Badly. (See Lisa de M's last couple of weekly ratings roundups.) There aren't enough peanuts to save it a second time. Let's savor it for the short time we have left, and hope we at least get some kind of wrap-up later, like the movies that "Deadwood" fans were led to hope for but never got.

Everyone needs to start writing the network again. Cancellation rumors have already begun.

I love this show, its definately the best show on TV

Season two just plain rocks. Maybe instead of cancelling the show again, they could support it with a more aggressive advertising campaign. With such well written drama every week, such a cast and all the references to present day politics and to American history, they could definitely get the ratings if they did their part of the work.

In any case, it would be a shame if the whole concept of Jericho went to waste so soon. It definitely stands out among the shows currently on television (good, bad or mediocre) and it deserves another chance at the very least.
