'Project Runway': Christian Siriano Speaks

With nearly all precincts reporting, Rami is polling at 60 percent to win "PR" tonight -- can more than 1,600 of you be wrong?

Last week we asked you who would emerge victorious from Bryant Park tonight, and Rami received the majority of the more than 2,800 votes cast. So just what it is that swayed you to vote for Rami? Was it the polish and professionalism of his designs? The poignant backstory and the kind eyes? Or is it that much-praised dress from last week's showdown with Chris -- the one that more than a few women confessed to us they would love to own?

As the hours count down till the Ultimate Walkoff, we turn our attention to Rami's fierce co-finalist, Christian Siriano. The Washington Post's Rachel Beckman caught up with Christian by phone to get his insider's view of the season. (For more from this interview, click here)

TWP: You say you "can do anything" now -- what was holding you back?
CHRISTIAN: Of course, being young, being new, just moving to New York City, not having any money, those things are a burden.

TWP: In the reunion show, you said that you were going to try to stop saying "fierce" so much. How's that going?
CS: You know what's funny? Some of my friends from the salon [in Annapolis where he once worked] said, "You know, I really don't hear you saying that." For some reason on the show, I said it a lot because I was talking about my work so much. In a normal environment, you don't talk about your work all the time. I've been good. I've been trying to tone it down.

TWP: Do you keep in touch with any of the other contestants?
CS: Victorya and I keep in touch. She's the sweetest person in the world. She's such a smart businesswoman, so she really helps me. That will probably surprise people because I know on the show she's a bit annoying.

TWP: Victorya?
CS: It's because on television, she comes off really horrible. If you ask people who know her ..... well, other than the producers. If you ask someone outside of the "Project Runway" world, they'll tell you that she's really an amazing person. ... I always like to iterate that [on the show], we are being real, but unless you are with us 100 percent of the time, you don't know what we're really like.

TWP: In last week's episode, when Tim Gunn travels, everyone else had family or friends around. What's with that?CS: I don't know. When I watched ... I was surprised. Who knows why they do things? I give up asking questions. But I did have people, I swear. I have friends!

TWP: What did you do with your $10,000 check for being voted the fan favorite?
CS: Well, I'm going to buy a bed. That's no joke because I really need it. I still don't have one. I'm going to buy a really, really good computer. Oh, and I already bought a pair of shoes! They're fabulous. They are amazing, they're like a pewtered silver, like, high-top suede sneaker. They're fabulous.

FINALLY, FOR YOUR VIEWING PLEASURE: Last week, we referenced "Zoolander" and the famed Derek/Hansel Walkoff. Well, the best "PR"/Bravo TV video clip we've seen all week is Christian and Tim Gunn "facing off" in a rooftop Walk-Auf. Who wins this particular challenge and who "makes it work"? We leave it to you to decide:

Auf Wiedersehen.
