Morning click: MTV denies Kanye diss rumors; Lilith Fair returns
- MTV is denying rumors that Kanye West was shut out from the network's major Haiti telethon airing tonight. With practically every famous person in the continental United States except Kanye West scheduled to appear on the program, Popeater reported Wednesday that MTV producers were intentionally dissing West given, y'know, the rapper's history of adding his personal touch to major televised events. MTV told the blog yesterday that West was invited but has yet to RSVP.
- After an 11 year hiatus, the Lilith Fair is back and it looks kind of... awesome? Tour organizers announced yesterday that Loretta Lynn, Heart, Gossip, and Cat Power are hitting the road with the women's festival this year, hopefully putting to bed its former reputation as the musical equivalent of Born's line of sensible ladies' clogs. Update: The tour will stop in the DC area, but no official word on the venue yet. Merriweather? Jiffy Lube Live, perhaps?
- Odds and ends: Billboard reports via the QMI Agency that the remaining members of Aerosmith are actively scouting replacements for hospitalized frontman Steven Tyler in the hopes of finding someone in time for the band's 40th anniversary in 2011; the family of deceased R&B icon Teddy Pendergrass will host a public memorial service for the singer this weekend in Philadelphia.
