- As a historic blizzard battered Washington Wednesday, local rapper Wale decided to battle cabin fever by calling his fans on the telephone. Those who follow Wale on Twitter could send in their numbers to the rapper in hopes of being selected for a quick phone chat. Very cool.
- Thom Yorke is getting greener. The Radiohead frontman announced plans to play a solo show in Cambridge, England on February 25 to benefit England's Green Party. Yorke says he's doing it as a gesture of support for environmentalist Tony Juniper's campaign for a seat in the British Parliament.
- For those about to noodle, Eric Clapton salutes you. Clapton has summoned guitar heroes from around the world to perform at the third installment of his Crossroads Guitar Festival at Toyota Park in Chicago on June 26. Performers include Jeff Beck, John Mayer and the Allman Brothers Band as well as a few cool surprises, including British folkie Bert Jansch and bossa nova great Joao Gilberto.
