Really quick spin: DJ Ykcor presents Cousin Bubb: "The Campaign"

D.C. rapper Cousin Bubb makes an shameless grab for the title of "DMV's hottest rapper" with "The Campaign," and he's definitely running on a pro-Auto Tune, anti-modesty platform. Mixed by DJ Ykcor, "The Campaign" lets Bubb spit various stump speeches over the most popular beats of the past year or so ("Blame It," "Bedrock," Break Up").

His strategy for winning over the public would make any political operative proud. He brings in a hugely respected rap artist to run down his credentials: Dre All Day reminds us that Bubb has been around since the heyday of D.C. venues the Legend, Safari Steakhouse, and Gee's on the mixtape's intro. Bubb plays the role of relatable everyman on "Everybody's Favorite Cousin." He shows himself to be a tech-savvy man of the '10s on "We Digital," and proves that he's very comfortable pressing the flesh, so to speak," on "Daddy."
