Week ahead: Tegan and Sara's harmonies, divas on TV
Tegan and Sara play at Warner Theatre Wednesday.
In concert: Canadian identical twins Tegan and Sara bring their sweet harmonies to Warner Theatre on Wednesday. Check out opener Holly Miranda if you're headed down there. And everyone's favorite apologetic, maybe-racist, maybe-misogynist, controversial-interview-giving, guitar-face-making pop star will be in town Saturday - Roger Miller of Mission of Burma! No no, just kidding. Well, Mission of Burma, post-punk pioneers who have somehow had a second act just as vital as their first, will indeed be at the Black Cat that night. But that John Mayer dude will be at Verizon Center.
In stores: In addition to the albums reviewed earlier today (Freeway, Jaheim, The Spy From Cairo) new ones this week include the latest from former college-radio fave Juliana Hatfield, Moldy Peach Adam Green and - stop the presses - Robert Pollard. If it's Tuesday, the Guided By Voices frontman probably has a new album out.
On TV: Battle of the divas tonight as Mary J. Blige visits "Letterman" and the Sade comeback continues on "Kimmel." And Wale, who you may have read about once or twice in these parts, will perform on "Kimmel" on Friday.
