Erykah Badu stirs controversy in naked video; Pearl Jam plants trees

ErykahBadu.jpgErykah Badu gets rawer than ever.

- Dallas police say singer Erykah Badu could have gotten a year in jail for her latest artistic statement. In the video for her song "Window Seat," Badu strips naked along the infamous grassy knoll in Dallas, Texas -- the site of President Kennedy's assassination -- and is "assassinated" by the sound of a gunshot. The word "groupthink" streams out of Badu's head in purple fluid as she lays on the ground. (Fact: Badu's video gives props to the Times Square-stripping band Matt and Kim, covered in Chris Richards's December story on the NSFW music video trend.)

- Pearl Jam is attempting to offset their environmental impact by planting trees in Washington State. On Monday, guitarist Stone Gossard announced that the band is investing over $200,000 in the trees, which are intended to absorb approximately 7,000 tons of carbon dioxide -- roughly the amount linked to the fossil fuels they and their fans directly or indirectly burned during the band's 2009 tour.
