The Roots borrow from Joanna Newsom, Jim James on new album; Carrie Underwood tix on sale in April for some reason
By Ally Schweitzer
- A song on the forthcoming Roots album "How I Got Over" samples Joanna Newsom's 2004 song "The Book of Right-On." Forever stoking the embers of Twitter hype, Roots drummer Questlove posted a video on the site yesterday that shows him recording "the Joanna Newsome jawn." EW.com confirmed that Jim James of My Morning Jacket will also appear on the record.
- If you're one of those people who likes to fill up your social calendar through the end of the year-- and you like pop-country-- Carrie Underwood is playing the 1st Mariner Arena in November, and tickets go on sale April 24th. Sure, buying tickets so far in advance is a long-term commitment, but think of it this way: if you buy a pair of tix for you and your significant other, you're really saying "I love you enough to know we can get through these next seven months together."
